They are heading for a crash in my view. The PS5 won’t reach PS4 numbers. In a market where the Xbox market has substantially shrunk, that’s not good for Sony. Ridiculous hardware costs, software costs, online fees and development times and costs, I’ve left the ecosystem and I’m sure other people will have as well.

I’m aware they are currently seeing record revenues. I’m more interested in what this will look like in 5 years time.

I've been a PlayStation fan from the very beginning and have bought every new console straight into the collection. And after the announcement of the PS5 Pro, I really have to say that anyone who even begins to defend this bullshit is at fault and should reconsider their attitude towards gaming.

Yes, it is a premium product and may therefore cost a little more. However, when announcing a premium product, cheekily adding a "Vertical Stand is sold separately" and also expecting the purchase of a disc drive is absolute bullshit, for which one can simply show Sony the middle finger.

Switching to digital with the leap into a new generation of consoles is also sad, but at least still understandable and acceptable. However, with a mid-generation refresh, suddenly only offering a digital version and thus screwing everyone who has bought discs since the PS5 release is absolute bullshit for a premium product.

I trust Rockstar in that department look what they did achieve with RDR 2 on the Ps4 its literally a technical marvel. They have the best programmers in the industry and the best part is they give theirs devs the time and budget they need. thats why it takes them so long to release a game. Good in this case Gta v online success plays a role too so we the conumers are at fault because they bought shark cards like nothing. but mabye they used that time just fine and the billions they earned with it.

RDR 2 is still the one of the best looking games and best optimized on the market. they also future proof their games with ridiculously Ultra Settings like it should be on Pc. But it scales wonderfully down no isse playing that with a Rx 470 from 2016 on 1080p and its still very demanding on 4k on a 4090 maxed but its beautiful.

Rdr2 framerate was also not stable at all and crawled into a ball when fire or explosions were on screen, saint denis was alsopretty choppy at times, now imagine a game with numerous cars that can explode, rocket launchers and granades...good luck maintaining a stable framerate with that ancient cpu during chaotic moments, let alone 60 stable (everyone can do a shitty perf mode that go from 30 to 60 all the time, i would not call that an achievement, a perf mode should be locked 95% of times)

Also, rdr2 is nowhere as big, nor has nowhere near the density of npcs\cars that gta6 is gonna have, and let's not even consider all the first in class city simulation that is gonna make look rdr2 like child play after so many years, hair and sea water simulation already look like best in class and these things are not free in the rendering budget, not even close.

Gta is a totally different beast than rdr.

The point of the Pro, as has been discussed for the past 9 months and by Cerny himself when it was unveiled... is to take what would be the quality mode on the PS5, and run the game at the framerate of the performance mode, while matching or exceeding the quality of the quality mode.

That is what the machine is designed to do, that is what any one of us who has been tracking its development over the last year hoped and expected it to do.... and guess what, that is what it has been shown to do.

Again, to take what was the quality mode running at 30fps, and run that at 60fps with equal or better IQ. If you were expecting anything else... well.. don't want to call you any more names because you are sensitive.

I'm the same way, at this point the only thing for me is determining when its purchased.

I might buy it at release to play AC Shadows since I'll likely be playing that game for a long time or might wait till GTA6.

I also don't get this whole thing of people acting as if this is PS vs PC, many of us own both. The last 3 PC builds I've done over 18 months cost well over $13k, I have no fucking clue where anyone thinks some of us give a shit about $800, that isn't anything to make a big deal about, unless folks either have horrid jobs or bad at saving or dead end careers or some shit. This isn't a cheap hobby and no one NEEDS to buy a PS5 Pro.

I at least hope they throw in the disk drive as some combo or something. I've missed a few launches in my day, but because this is an upgrade, I'm more ok to wait till GTA6 anyway and this fall is just packed with work and classes for me. I think what they show with AC Shadows with PS Pro will determine if I get it day 1.

So its 100% a yes from me, simply when at this point.

The pricing polls expectations and even watching some YT talk price, there's a general consensus that if it was $600 digital, or $700 tops (with drive and stand), that seems like an agreeable price. And that's even more than PS5 now which is $500. So people were expecting a price increase. I even chose $600 digital and $650-700 all in seemed ok.

I dont think too many people in modern day expected PS5 Pro to be $500 and then all the older systems go down $100 like PS4 Pro days. It is a different era of gaming, costs, and it seems the longer we go the less mega deals we get on consoles like the old days where systems were dumped for $99. Those days are long gone. That's why I expected prices to go up as opposed to status quo and older systems go down.

It's just that jacking it up, excluding disc drive and stand, and oddly perking up Euro to 800 when all combined together is one big price hike not seen before.

The Euro price is so odd that for any of you Americans who think the $700 situation is bad, take it and add another $100 to it. That's the Euro situation this time.
