Sometimes seeing thumbnails from YouTube clips would ruin an entire boss fight. I’m glad it’s being taken seriously. I want to visit OT’s 2-3 days after launch and not see what’s 10-15 hours ahead. I enjoy talking about it and reading everyone’s thoughts. I’m just worried that the climax to the game is sitting there right in front of my face when I click the OT. It’s made me not visit some OT’s until after I finished the game.

Back on N4G we voted to not allow anonymous sources.

But when it comes to spoilers? I don't think people should be allowed post them wherever they want. The reason why it's an automatic perm is to make people think twice before posting them. Granted it doesn't stop people from posting spoilers but it does stop some people who care about being in this place from posting them.

Anyway the current policy is fine. People who want spoilers can always get them in the spoiler thread. It's not like they are banned on this site they are just limited to where they can be posted.

Did you read the original note? You are allowed to post about spoilers in the relevant threads. I’ve been discussing TLOU2 spoilers all day today. The mods are trying to keep assholes from dropping spoilers in threads that have nothing to do with said game just to be a dick. People who don’t want to read spoilers can avoid those threads, like you said, but they shouldn’t have to worry about a random spoiler dropped in a thread that’s not even about the game in question.

I support this. Plenty of folks believe inferring to plot elements in non-spoiler thread is fine so long as it isn’t specific.

I honestly don’t need to know about the presence of any “twists” or allegorical comparisons between the plot of a game and another story.

It’s like the plot of Half-Life 3. Fresh unspoiled territory where anything could happen.

However if anybody infers it’s like Hamlet or has a major, controversial plot twist early on, then sets a bias to the enjoyment of the story even if the element is not specifically disclosed.

It’s not much of a sacrifice for people to wait a couple months more before discussing the story. It’s been years in the waiting.

I apologise for my last few posts. I really was looking forward to not getting the game spoiled for me by avoiding anything Last of Us 2 related on youtube and the spoiler thread on this forum.

This is why I hate when games leak TOO early. Like a week or so sure but the game is still a Month and a half away and we are in a pandemic with nothing to do so sure ill be browsing on gaf.
