Just got this announcement from Bizarre
Today we received the go-ahead to tell the world about the new PGR4 DLC, titled the Challenge Pack. It comes in both freebie and premium incarnations (400 points for the latter), and includes a bunch of new stuff like new vehicles, game modes, cheats, and achievements.

More info on their site:

Some of that stuff is cool :) , the cheats stuff bothers me a bit, sounds to much like EA "pay for cheats codes" to me :/

Supporting it day one for such an excellent game...

I need to finish up Arcade Mode as well as going through Career Mode again - plus I like the car choices shown, especially that S2000!

Adding cheats gives me a Crackdown DLC vibe for some reason, and I like that...

Plus, you'll get two new game modes-one of them the player-requested Tourist Mode, which lets you tool around any city in the game checking out sights with your friends. Or play Free Roam Cat and Mouse, where a slow mouse vehicle must avoid enemy cats. And you add another 10 achievements. Get more racing fun for the best price-free!"

Yes! :D

I just hope the tourist mode will be available when playing "alone".

Tourist Mode... I wonder how it'll be different from custom match, I could just drive slow there without AI if I wanted to gaze at the pretty scenery.

Regardless, it's a must to support the best arcade racer in existence.

Tourist mode opens up all the "city". I guess it's like the Bulldog mode but less competitive.

I got this back yesterday from my rental place and its dead as a dodo online. Cant play any team championships to get the achievements which sucks.

Same I've been stuck on 980/1000 for way too long. Struggle to get 8 player team champs and then when you do, theres always someone that cant keep up.

I loved this game to death when it came out. Played basically all the way thru it. Hopefully more people hop online after the DLC!

Count me in, eventually.

Love the game, but got turned off by that one "time vs. kudos" challenge that forces you to drift and fishtail for five full minutes in order to have a chance to win.

If anyone has any pointers, I'm all ears.

And back OT, glad to see this game getting more love.

Really curious to see how they've tuned the W12 which Jeremy Clarkson declared nigh undrivable during turns..... cat and mouse mode... wow spiritual successor to Midtown Madness!

I'm actually playing some PGR4 right now, (some of these platinum medals are a bitch), and this is really good news. After Bizarre packed up and left, I didn't think we'd see any DLC for the game at all, but it's nice being wrong sometimes. I'll pick this pack up in support of the game-- heck, I'd buy it just for the 430 Scud.

It's a real shame PGR4 never got the attention it deserved and bombed like it did. For me, it's right up there with PGR2 as the best in the series. Good for Bizarre, still supporting it after all.

Sounds good.

I'll enjoy it while I lasts, since my guess would be that this franchise is going the way of the Dodo, just as Midtown Madness and Rallisport Challenge before it.

Damned shame, too. I've been a big fan of the franchise since, well, before the franchise technically began...Metropolis Street Racer on the Dreamcast. In many ways, though, I don't think they ever advanced beyond the immersion factor of that first title, despite the advances that improved technology afforded them.

I'm still sour over them releasing this a week after Halo 3. A delay would have done wonders for this game's sales. Was such a good game, and practically no one bothered to pick it up.

Ben ;-)

Didn't see this post when I first popped in here, but I just wanted to say...

You are one cool moefoe for doing what you do over in the Bizarre forums. I've never really posted over there (more of a lurker), but I've been checking in over there for a while now. You guys have always been great at relating to your fans and engendering this sense of community with all of your titles.

Shame some of those guys in your forums can't read the writing on the wall and understand that business is business and you have to carry on, though.

Regardless of all that....bravo and best wishes.

Considering Jeremy Clarkson makes statements which are at times ridiculously biased and, other times, completely laughable, I'd have to say that in this instance, I wouldn't give a flying f#ck to the wind what he thinks :)

Considering this statement was accompanied by multiple demonstrations of how unstable the vehicle is in turns... this time I'd tend to lean towards his line of thinking(in this case its really just massive amounts of rear spin that need to be controlled by the throttle). Still that is a bad ass looking car....

Isn't the proper response: why should it matter?

I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed, but Project Gotham's not a driving sim...at least, it wasn't the last time I checked.

I wouldn't even put much stock in that, either. Top Gear, while certainly entertaining to watch, is as applicable to automobiles as Inside Edition is to actual news. :) Sure, occasionally they make a good point, but they far too often lean with their biases, make overgeneralizations, and hold certain classes of vehicles to double standards, etc.

But I'm ranting now. back to PGR :p

Even the stig couldn't make that car turn

GREAT! I was just thinking about getting back to the game after finishing from Paradise (finished Career Mode of course, but it's fun to goof around with the tracks while listening to Beethoven). Hope it won't take too long to get released. EDIT: so it's coming 14th Feb; AWESOME.

Good job, Bizarre.

Slight more derail then I'm done with this. Top Gear isn't the only driving impressions mag that commented on the instability during turning. So it goes wider than your apparent distaste for Top Gear. ;)
