Wonder where that was taken.

I'm in the Air Force and work at the missile sites.

True story: My friends little brother too that photo. More of his illustrations and photos can be found here.

Antti was a exchange student in Australia when he took that picture. People were celebrating independence day at some Australian beach. Fireworks, lighting storm and the Haley cometh. Hard to beat that.

Funny story: Antti thought that the picture was so cool that he wanted a printout. About a week later he went to print shop, only to find out that the picture was allready on sale in the shop. The printshop had found the picture from internet and was selling huge poster versions of it without his permission :D
I don't remember if he ever got it printed. :p

It was on Australia day (were still part of the commonweath) and it was taken from north of the river (maybe north beach or sorrento?) i was always told it was photoshopped but still an awesome picture :) it was on the cover of our newspaper (sunday times)

Someone needs to get every picture in this thread, stuff it in a rocket and shoot it out into space. Others must know....

I want to believe

Ferrofluid. I had a small bottle of this stuff before and it's very interesting to play with, but kind of a mess when attempting to get it back in the container!

Used to live near Plitvice: it is beautiful indeed. And the water was so clean and clear that you could drink straight from the streams.

Oh and if you ever visit there (which you should, since Croatia is a beautiful country), make sure you buy any and all cheese sold by little peasant ladies on the side of the road. Best cheeses... in the world. Americans used to pasteurization will especially be in awe.

Wow, what a great thread. Amazing photos.

As a hobbyist photographer myself (hopefully a professional one in the future), seeing such works of art makes me wonder why I'm even bothering.
As a wannabe hobbyist photographer (I need more free time, damn you grad school), it only serves to inspire me. And make me a little sad I didn't choose photography as a career path, instead of computer science. D:

Great thread, though.

And now you know how to dispose of a CD if you don't feel like breaking it up.

I think it's a super strong net that can stop a truck driving at... what was it? 50mph? I don't remember. Might've been higher. I only actually read the title of one blog post, never investigated further. U:

Yeah I went to Plitvice Lakes in 2009 and it was absolutely stunning when I went, and I didn't even catch it in spring and summer, I was there in the fall. 16 lakes or something connected by waterfalls, I managed to do a day trip there and live in the little town that was about a 30 minute walk from there. The one with this ski hill and the little market up the hill.

My girlfriend was there for the last two days, and is now on her way to Greece.
