So, a month? Let them take all the time they need to make the game as good as possible. Also to add Crash Bandicoot.

I'm hoping that it's because they got the rights to use Crash and Spyro and they are putting them in the game......

It's more likely because it was going to be released in this years hell month. October is is just filled with big releases. Even NFS and Assassin's Creed were moved from November to October this year.

Is this for development or financial reasons? Maybe Sony is going to try to push this as their big Q4 title? (Not much to choose from between this, Sly 4, and LBP Karting)

I'm not really that disappointed over this as there are quite a few games in my backlog that I want to go through before the annual "Holiday Rush" of games in Oct/Nov.

Unless Sony throws a huge amount of money at marketing, and actually does so in an effective manner,I think this game will be more of a slow burner anyway. If it turns out to be really good then word of mouth will help sell the game.

Maybe not, but releasing after almost every other major release this fall may dampen sales threshold.

What other "AAA" title does Sony have for the holidays? This is what they're banking on.

PSAS will do okay, probably better than LBP Karting and Sly 4, but they really needed Last of Us for 2012 to make a proper mark this season.

Well now they are releasing a week after COD

I'm sure that they'd take that gamble over their original release date. Did you see what games were releasing around All-Stars in that original release date?

I really expect this to happen. If that slim PS3 comes out this year then I don't see why they wouldn't bundle the smallest harddrive model with All-Stars. That'll help it out a lot.

But they aren't just competing with PS3 games.

And you are also competing with Black Friday game sales.. which tends to be the rest of people's disposable money.

Oh, I know that. But Sony wants to believe PSAS is a much bigger deal than I think the rest of the world does.

Who knows, maybe they will market the hell out of it and it'll be their Uncharted for 2012
lol

This. But I dont trust Sony.

They can also add the demo to the LBP disc, maybe even Bioshock Infinite (with Big Daddy as playable). In fact, they can do that with a lot of the third party games-- every demo offering the exclusive character of that IP. Offer digital version, discount for Plus

OT: Who is that in ur avatar?

Thats why i am saying they need some more story trailer to start the hype.

A person will get more hype seeing A trailer where Dante fights against Raiden or someone else then what a a gameplay video which sure isnt actually exciting to watch even though its fun to play

After observing the beta, I think that I can safely say that it probably still isn't enough time. The game is in pretty rough shape, imo. Probably best to push it into spring.

Here's hoping they use this time to really make the UI and sound design impressive. The game is really fun, but the current presentation (placeholders or not) is pretty weak.

And put Kat in, of course.

Meh, as long as it's not pushed to next year this isn't a big deal. More polish is never a bad thing, and October is a crowded month anyway. Doesn't Assassin's Creed 3 hit on the original PBR release date of the 23rd of October?

ACIII is October 30 IIRC.

This game's never going to just fly out of the gate. It'll sell to PlayStation fans at first, then -- assuming it's good -- will have a steady tail heading into PS4.

Sony's potential big seller this holiday is Wonderbook. That's the game they'll be chucking their marketing budget at.

You never know with them. But they're bundling AC3 with the PS3

It'd be foolish to not do the same for their biggest release this year. Especially since Yoshida said that they're going to make a push for the family market. They'll have a family oriented game and potentially a much cheaper version of their console ready for its release. A bundle seems like a very obvious thing to do.

This game will be bigger than some of you expect. It was Sonys headliner at E3 and they started an entire ad campaign "Michael" last year based on the concept of this game, that trailer is one of the most watched videogame commercials of all time on YouTube now with over 11 million viewers. Hopefully that trailer is a hint of the quality of marketing we can expect for this game, although it will be a little hard to top, I think Sony has big plans for this game

Even though those pictures leaked recently I don't think the super slim will come out this holiday. It would be nice, but normally when there is an upcoming new model/price cut there are tons of deals and incentives to clear out old inventory before hand

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't the rumors of a HDD-less PS3? If so, it may exist alongside the current models

I don't think a lot of people are going to make a connection between a commercial that is a year old and a new product.. especially since not all the characters from that commercial are in the actual game...

Though you are right, would be a great template for them to use to market PSASBR

Bundling that new cheaper PS3 SKU with this game would be genius. Not only does it draw people to the console because it may include characters they know, but it introduces them to Sony's other franchises as well (which is something they've had a hard time with).

I don't think people will either, but the team have said that that trailer was created as a precursor to revealing the actual game. Though more broadly it was advertising the system as a whole. I just think Sony sees big potential with the game and is really going to run with the concept based on their efforts last year
