PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS4/PS3) | February 2015

It's almost certainly the same localization, so it will probably release in the west simultaneously.

Yeah, that's what I figured. I'm hoping they don't just stealth release it on PSN some week, though. If it gets a retail release in the US I'll buy it here to support it, but I'll import the physical version if it's digital-only outside of Asia.

it will be Soul Sacrifice Delta all over again.

good thing is they will probably put it on sale eventually and then forget to put it back to normal price

Same. Knowing ahead of time would be helpful.

And at least it's an offline game with no online pass to worry about.

Buggy Vita ports like Grim Fandango are a good reminder that we should never buy non-exclusive Vita games before waiting for hands-on reviews, because they can very well be half-assed outsourced efforts.

BlueMaxima's YouTube channel is a good source for determining what games to avoid, he basically captures footage of every single Vita game, sometimes even before its release. I don't care much about his actual opinions on the games, but he serves as a good "shit filter".
i see his vídeos and find some comments really funny but he is constantly " annoyed " by every aspect of a game so . idk about shit filter.

Filled in a couple holes in the collection ('cause they were cheap) and a glaring omission I was slacking on buying for awhile:

So vitacats . what's the next big vita game you are waiting for this 2015? It doesnt have to be an exclusive vita game.

Me? I'm sure dreaming atlus would bring a persona 5 special edition for vita. But that's not happening so I guess the new ys game will be my choice.

The only game I'm on the edge of my seat for is the port of Steins;Gate. I've already beaten it once but I'd love to read through it all again on the go.

It really depends on what you consider "big" on Vita nowadays.

Neptunia U or Senran Kagura (I'm getting it but I'll be playing the PS4 version--I just wanted the figures). Oreshika seems interesting but I have no idea WTF is up with that release/localization-wise. Also Firefly diary, whenever that is. And Dangan Ronpa Another Episode which I'm sure will eventually make it's way over

That's easy, Operation Abyss.

The game I'm most looking forward to in general remains Galax-Z (PS4, can't remember if it's coming to vita too).

And Uncharted 4.

Stranger of Sword City is the game I currently most want localized, though there may be others I don't know about since I wouldn't know to look.

Any news for the asian version of Moero Chronicles?

They have that listed for a March release, too, but it doesn't say if it includes English text. The TGS conference said the game would have it, though. I e-mailed Play-Asia about it last night but they haven't gotten back to me yet.

Hyperdevotion Noire, Firefly's Diary, Neptunia U, Oreshika 2, Operation Abyss, Moero Chronicle (if it includes English text) are my Vita purchases for the next couple months.

Its looking pretty lame for me in terms of confirmed localizations.

though i am looking forward to Ys 8 and IA/VT Colorful. Estival Versus too but the PS4 version looks so good.

I would be more excited for P4D but the total lack of P3 songs is a bummer. Most likely DLC but yeah..lame.

Gamasutra.
Urg, and of course it doesn't autosave. Is it only buggy on Vita or PS4 too? I got stuck on the first major instance of Adventure Game Logic and haven't really gone back to it. I didn't realize quite how pervasive it is, I'm fine with looking up That One Puzzle once per game but I don't want to just play with a guide.
I haven't played but about 5 minutes on the PS4. I've almost completed the game entirely on the PSV.

And, let's be clear, some of the bugs are from the original. Getting stuck in the elevator in the High Rollers Club? Original game bug, I believe. Wonky movement? Original game.

I don't know if crashes in the final act are part of the original or not. But I crashed twice trying to
go from getting my makeup on to getting into the Casino
. Then while I was in the
casino
, one of the NPCs simply moonwalked out of the scene. Hope I didn't need him for the game to progress!

NIS America has shared images of Operation Abyss: New Tokyo Legacy's limited edition on Facebook, and they're stunning:

They went all-out with that artbook, it makes up for the price.

It's been delayed to June, right? At least it says so on the NISA store. On one hand I'm glad because there are a lot of good games in the upcoming few months, on the other, ....I want my drpg fix :(.

It's been pushed back? WTF, NISA? What the hell kind of problems do you have that you're pushing back the game by two months?

Goddammit. :T

It's a shame if they really delayed the release, but I can wait. It's looking great, I'm very happy that it's looking as fine as the one we got for Bravely Default from Nintendo.

Not counting something like La Mulana, definitely Operation Abyss. Oreshika too, now, and fingers still crossed for a Disgaea D2 port.

Wait for real? If so I'm actually happy, because these next fews months are busy as hell, and this is a game that I want to play really badly.

Wow, yeah pretty good artbook especially for the price. Banned Game's was smaller than I expected. Oh, speaking of, wasn't there supposed to be a keychain in that? I didn't see it. Wasn't going to use it, but if it's hidden in some weird compartment I'l like to at least dig it out

Someone stop me from just buying all the limited editions on NISA's store

http://store.nisamerica.com/preorders/operation-abyss-new-tokyo-legacy According to their store, the new release date is June 9. However their European store still has it as an April release.

As far as I know, they haven't announced anything. But, it's probable that their European store is just slow with updating :/.

If I only got one of these DRPG things, at least to start with, should I wait on Abyss or Demon Gaze? ...I might have asked this before

Isn't that the one that's still very much still in stock? http://store.nisamerica.com/operation-abyss-new-tokyo-legacy

Demon Gaze. According to people who played both, it's more accessible of the two. If it means anything, DG has slightly more story than OA (Not that either of them have a lot of story to begin with).

Demon Gaze was my GOTY 2014, there is that. From all DRPGs I've played, it's among the easiest, but it doesn't mean it's an easy game, it's just easier than most DRPGs.

Most DRPGs kick your ass if you don't put a bit of time into them, it's just the nature of the genre. I feel like maybe Etrian/Persona Q easy mode would be the way to go if anything, but those are on 3DS anyway.

Demon Gaze is great on the Vita though, so I can't wait for Operation Abyss. So, so, glad that it got delayed, I know a lot of people would love to get it in April, though. June has nothing noteworthy in terms of releases, so it's perfect. Gonna be a great summer :D

For me, it is a few games :D.

Sword Art Online Lost Song looks very promising and considering I really enjoyed Hallow Fragment, I'm willing to give it a shot when it launches :).

This years trio of adventure games (Grim Fandango, Day of the Tentacle, Broken Age) for the Vita are going to be great :D! I never played this in the past, so giving them a shot on my Vita sounds great to me :). Didn't get Grim Fandango yet due to wanting to clear my backlog alongside trying to have a stronger focus on my college stuff.

Lastly, I guess this handful of Indie/Kickstarter games :); Shovel Knight, Mighty No. 9, Shante Half Gennie Hero, and more :D! All of them look great, so I can't wait to give them a shot. Notably Shovel Knight; I love how the game looks and while I can play it now (have a laptop and a 2DS), I prefer playing 2D games on my Vita (the OLED screen and the D-Pad really make games play great on the system :')).

Also, other stuff looks cool too; the upcoming Sega Fighting game for the Vita looks great (seeing Kirto and others fighting on Green Hill is just priceless XD!), Oshoka should be a fun time, and I hope we get a Persona 3 remaster for the Vita in the future (just....it makes so much sense for it to come out soon, considering the third P3 Movie is launching in Japan this fall while the second film comes stateside early this year).

Speaking of Persona, Dancing All Night looks fantastic :D. The visuals look great, the soundtrack has a lot of great tunes from P4 (though tracks from P3, Persona 3 Portable and hopefully P5 (you know, as a teaser for the full game or something :D) should be in the final version or at least some kind of DLC) and I like how the game looks to play (left side of the screen uses the D-Pad while the right side of the screen uses the buttons).

This year looks to be a good one for the Vita, even if Sony isn't doing a ton for the platform.

You can guess what they plugged immediately after the games.

As if the lack of communication wasn't enough, I think it's safe to say Oreshika 2 is a PSN-exclusive in the west. But hey, import the English Asian release if you want a physical copy.

Nothing so far unfortunately but i believe that's due to me not having time to look up the various upcoming games announced so far. I hope to change that soon

If Demon Gaze is supposed to be "accessible to new players" then I don't wanna imagine how the others are. A game should be playable without needing to read some arbitrary community-written google doc first.

Okay, maybe I'll look into Demon Gaze then. looks at prices ugh, why can't I like over-produced AAA crap that declines in value.

Since there seems to be a few importers in here, are there any general sites that are helpful for playing imported games?Even just a diagram with the menus translated would be super helpful for some games. I currently have a Super Sonico PS3 game and Senran Kagura 2 that I'm awkwardly blundering my way through, and a ton of shmups that I can play but have no concept of the finer score-y bits and what different modes really do.

Not all genres have the same base level of accessibility...Binding of Isaac is probably on the more accessible side of Roguelikes but it still complicated as hell

Anybody else playing Jungle Rumble: Freedom, Happiness and Bananas. It is a phone type game but a lot of fun so far. Its a mix between Rhythm Heaven and Patopon. Be sure to learn to start the pattern at the visual indicator because it didn't make that very clear to me. It is $5 on Vita.

I would say any of the OT in this site. I got a lot of useful information just by reading here alone.

It's playable without all the reading. It just needs more observation for things instead of the need of telling you what to do at each check point. Thinking how to exploit everything in your deposit for each of your trip is the nature of this genre. Preparation is also important, and I would say Demon Gaze is much lighter in this part, since you could get a good one setup and run through the whole game.

The google doc only saves you time. It's not the necessity for beating the game.

While it's not a lot, Oreshika, Hotline Miami 2 and Titan Souls look like some really high quality titles. Shovel Knight as well if you haven't played it yet (or like me want to play it again on a handheld). I really hope most of the indies will have PS4 cross-buy.

I'd lean more towards recommending Etrian Odyssey IV as an accessible dungeon JRPG over Demon Gaze, personally.

I'm in agreement with antibolo, I had the exact same problems as he described before. Still stuck at Mars at the easiest difficulty.
I know I can grind some more or change armor but just thinking of playing it makes me feel super stressed. Definitely my last DRPG if I don't warm up on it some time. As of now it's more tedious than fun. Bleh.

Think of it this way - once you get Mars you shouldn't have any issues with other bosses till you reach end game. Mars, with some luck, can obliterate anything in a few turns.

I was in a similar position; stopped playing either before getting Mars or shortly after. Then I came back to it and everything clicked. Found myself unexpectedly platinuming the game.

Take a break when you're stuck. Don't stress yourself too much. Mars is the first road block that if you're not familiar with the genre, it will break you. Try to get the 5th member as soon as possible, since you will need them eventually, and the sooner you can gather a full party, the better.

This will do for Senran Kagura Estival Versus I'm pretty sure, judging by the thread about it, but all the other stuff is quite old and doesn't have any recent threads. The Sonico game probably doesn't have any at all. I could ask the shmup thread about those games, but I'n surprised there don't seem to be any "let's translate them menus" sites for importers. The LTTP for SK2 died so fast I got very little info out of it too.
