When does the first Coro Coro hit that might have Pokemon coverage?
It's either this month or next month definitely - I was actually expecting CoroCoro to provide indepth info and the site to drop a title and other tidbits. No one knows how much info will overlap though - it would suck if they just said the same thing as the Direct did.

Probably the same would go for Smash, as they'll have to show some ingame stuff/'reveal' some new Pokemon soon as well - they won't remain quiet for long.

I've wanted a Ghost/Normal ever since my Red version Hall of Fame glitched out and decided that's what type a deformed Geodude was.

Hopefully they make one based on some animal that pretends to be dead, like an opossum or something. I don't think they've done one of those yet.
That's actually a pretty neat idea for a Possum. Maybe when it get knocks down to a 1/3 health it turns into a ghost type or something. Now I'll be dissapointed when it never happens.

EvilMario

Will QA for food.

Grass/Dragon you mean. Grass/Dragon!

But yeah, we need Bug/Dragon so badly.

Edit: Wait, I swear that said Dragon/Grass before.
You're just losing your mind!

Am I the only one that wants an Orange Islands game (with actual gym battles though)?

Reading through this Bulbapedia article makes me wish I could travel through each city :O
I found the Orange Island saga real boring. I always saw Sevii Islands as the counter-part to Orange Islands anyways. ...Does the show have Sevii Islands by the way?

I love new type combinations, but I don't like how half of them go to legendaries. I'd like to have an usable Electric/Flying pokémon for example.
Emolga doesn't count

Is anyone else slightly questioning the names of the new games?

I mean we had colors, we had gemstones.

But what is a X and what is a Y? Generation X and Y?
The two leading theories are (1) X-Y-Z are the 3 dimensional axes, and (2) X and Y chromosomes. There are little DNA helices in the Japanese logo art so it seems like the chromosomal theory has at least some merit.

X and Y could refer to:

1) 3D space, or the X axis, Y axis, Z axis, etc -- it is on the 3DS, after all, and in 3D

2) Chromosomes, as in X and Y (and yes, they could do Z)

It seems pretty obvious to me that it's referencing the X and Y axes. 3D, man! Also, chromosomes.

Hnnng, I'm all for a Pokémon Rock and Pokémon Scissors and Pokémon Paper for the next generation.

I mean the 3D thing makes sense, but I fear for what comes after that? Alpha and Beta, Omega?

The starters should all get the types that are weak against them in their 3rd form:

Water/Fire steam frog pokemon - can be named Vapoad, Steamrog or whatever

Fire/Grass flowery fox

Grass/Water swimming hedgehog

What's to fear? The Pokémon formula needed shaking up -- it's been the same since 1996. It's been too boring and predictable. Creatively, Black 2/White 2 instead of Grey and now X and Y are steps in the right direction.

I wouldn't really consider X/Y some big revolution compared to gems, precious metals, colors, etc.

Your thread? Your OP was shit till a mod hijacked it.
I was busy, okay? :'( I had to leave home before the trailer/screenshots were up, and by the time I was able to change it, a mod had already hijacked it (thanks to whoever did that, by the way). I didn't know the thread would explode like it did, either (although I probably should have anticipated it).

Anyway, isn't it stil your house if you built it and had someone else do all the decorating? :p

Weeeeellll it isn't quite a revolution, but it's what Game Freak has been does with those names - Black and White weren't just names, they were representative of the themes driving the 'plot'. That's a positive change if there ever was one - shows there's some effort beside just picking opposite/related things and just rolling with it.

Like now, with X/Y, it's representative of not only the game being on 3DS (without actually attaching 3D to the title), but of themes the story will take - genetics, DNA, engineering... maybe the story will involve a look into issues with cloning, maybe we'll get some followup on Mew/Mewtwo, Ditto, Porygon, etc. Maybe the legendaries represent science (Yveltal) vs. nature (Xerneas), who knows what will happen.

...of course I'm doing that train of thought thing again, who knows what direction the story'll take.

While the art style of the new starters is a little off putting for me, I do like thier designs, especially when in engine. Mix that with the great looking legendary, namely the stag, and I have really high hopes for the Pokemon of this generation. I really hope they can nail interesting and fun designs while still keeping them a little more down to earth.

I am worried about grid based movement with the analog nub though, something tells me it will be a little weird to get used to. Shame the overworld visuals weren't a bit bigger of a jump, but once again, the battles look amazing.

--

So what changes to the formula do be people expect, and what changes do people want? Personally, I would like to see battles continue to move fast and not get weighed down by needless wait times. Also, and more importantly, I would like to see HM's get a makeover.. the idea of an HM slave really needs to die IMO, they just feel more like a burden and an annoyance. As for other things.. I would like to see exploration and discovery get more of a push, a new type and possibly see breeding expanded upon.

HMs should just not take up move slots. Give Pokemon 3 "Ability" slots where they could go
