Sugimori's old watercolor art is leagues better than his recent stale efforts. He went from having a wonderfully unique style to being generic in just about a generation.

His art from the R/B/Y and G/S/C eras is unparalleled.

It brings back such great memories to see the old art. I knew something was off with all the newer stuff but I could never put my finger on it, but this is definitely at least part of the problem with the newer generations. The original stuff had a certain badass factor associated with it that got lost.
