I am on the third island and I guess near the end of it, this has been the most fun I had playing pokemon since gold and silver and I love the removal of the HM, I believe that they improved on almost anything that made X,Y and ORAS somewhat boring for me with the exception of fishing, I am so tired of getting Magikarps and Wishiwashis on almost all darn fishing spots.

on a side note, the game is keeping the trend of being preschooler levels of easy, the random trainers should have at least from 3 to 5 pokemons, heck your rivals should have a full team

I have to say, I'm pretty unhappy with battle tree. It's a worse Battle Maison. No triple, no rotation battles. One upside is the scout feature. Otherwise it's Battle Maison all over again. Game Freak, I can't keep playing the same mode 3 games in a row.

Is it too hard to add a team preview so we're not bent over by rng team comps? If you're seriously going for a streak, you have to devise a foolproof safe team. You can't pick the Pokémon you want. This has always been a problem with Maison, but after 3 games in a row, it's unacceptable.

Pokémon Stadium had 3v3 singles where you brought 6 and team preview allowed you to choose 3. Vastly superior back in 1999.
Holy sh*t lmao.

But seriously, I agree with you. The sheer amount of times I've lost in both the Maison and Tree because the opponent full on counter-picked my team, is completely bonkers. My problem is as you stated, "You can't pick the Pokemon you want" cause that makes me really mad. I remember winning 50 Super singles in the Maison because I used Garchomp, Aegislash, and Greninja. I was happy I won, but it was disheartening to know that I could only win if I used the best stuff.

Plus the Maison and Tree get things we normally can't, like Intimidate Incineroar, or Custap Berry. Seriously I lost to a Custap Berry Claydol at 49 in Super doubles. I was livid.

For real what is with the number of magikarp in fishing spots? I stopped using them entirely. I only ever got 1 wishiwashi and 1 barboach (wischash prevo) out of 25+ fishing spots ALL have been fucking magikarp.

I stopped by the 4rth island, simply not worth my time. A place like Hawaii should have an extremely diverse ocean. And surfing just gives you either finneon or its evo, tentacruel or its prevo and thats about it. Maybe the extremely rare pelipper which is also found in grass.

Just fish in the bubbling spots. Those ones have better chances of landing you rarer Pokemon. The normal ones are total garbage. Don't even bother with them.

They should've just made the bubbling encounter rates the default rates for all fishing spots, but I guess Gamefreak wanted it to be exciting when you saw one. I don't really get it.

Natures are most important of all. While EVs can be freely manipulated and IVs improved under specific circumstances, a Pokémon's Nature is determined at birth and cannot be changed.

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
Tapus and UBs are Tree and Royal usable right?

You missed out man.
They were all the rage a few weeks ago.
Got every Legendary with them.

I just got all the Legendaries myself from this method, Necrozma being the last one yesterday. So, people are still trading for Trubbish lol.

Annoyingly I swapped my spare Buzzwole for a Pheremosa, but nobody will give me a Celesteela for my Kartana. I should have looked to see which were equivalent value, I didn't realise I was conning myself.

What's strange is that they marketed Pheremosa and Buzzwole as equivalents.

They are in the sense that its masculine vs feminine, punching vs. kicking, muscular vs lean, one annoying insect (mosquito) vs. another annoying insect (cockroach). They've got the same typing.

Kartana's only connection with Pheromosa is the number of them. Course its connection with Celesteela is questionable too.

Jesus christ the pokemon league champion, I was not prepared.

This marks my first ever lost in this game and I steamrolled through the E4 with only 4 properly leveled pokemon and swapping in my two vastly underleveled pokemon for EXP.

Time to train up those two pokemon.

EDIT: I'm giving this a break to go get me some trubbish.

I also have a genesect code but I need to see what legendaries I'm missing from ORAS. I think its volcaninion. I'll throw in a blue psyduck if thats not enough.

Kartana and Celesteela are similar to Buzzwole and Pheromosa in the sense that they're opposites again. Vaguely masculine Kartana vs. vaguely feminine Celesteela, Spaceship vs. Paper Plane, Huge vs. Tiny.

At least that's how I see it. They're both kinda bizarre.

Anyone else think it was a huge missed opportunity with some of the UB type combinations? I mean, these are extradimensional beings that don't follow any of the "rules" of Pokemon. Gamefreak should've taken the opportunity to really go wild and give us some type combinations that we've never seen before because they don't make a lot of sense in the natural world.

Like, where's our Fire/Ice UB (with immunity to Stealth Rock, of course)? What about Dark/Fairy? We certainly didn't need two of them to both be Bug/Fighting, that's for sure.

It is kind of disappointing that Nihilego is the only one that comes off as being really alien. Guzzlord had that opportunity I guess, but they skimped on his typing. Doesn't help that no one really knows what to do with it either.

Any news on why Tauros and Miltank are on the same Pokedex page?

Since Miltank's introduction they've been paired together. Just wish they'd go the full length and actually treat them the same in breeding like they do with Volbeat/Illumise and Nidoran.

That terrible feeling when you just want to google good art of your new favorite pokemon and find porn instead ( ._.)

Exactly. It's a puzzling decision.

Yeah. I didn't have too many problems with the E4 even though my pokemon were only LV 53 at the start but the champ was much stronger. Didn't help that
none of my Pokemon could take on his Primarina and so had to use a Z-move to finish her off.

One thing I like about the champ thematically is that
they finally had you take on the professor in the final after scraping that idea in gen 1

Modest nature seems like the way to go with Magearna, with Quiet being option for something specific like Trick Room. Naive could maybe work if your gimmick is to use Shift Gear and become mixed attacker...

Any opinions?

If magearna is legal I'm totally preparing a trick room team, I already have plans for 3 pokes for it and I need something with decent BST.

Which UB or Tapu would be good under trick room? And please don't say UB-05 because I will cry a little if I have to rush to it.

I went with Modest for mine. I figure you want to secure early KOs to get Soul Heart boosts and start tearing dudes apart with boosted Flash Cannons and Fleur Cannons. I don't see a mixed attacker being a thing even with the attack boost from Shift Gear. Just treat that as Agility imo.

Even if you're not going mixed, Timid + Shift Gear turns her into a pretty fast attacker so that might be an option.

Probably better off going Modest to focus that strong Sp. Atk into something fearsome.

Well I'd love to do that but for whatever reason whenever I see one and dash to it the bubbles disappear as soon as I draw the fishing rod, I really stopped caring, I guess I'll farm starters and get the fishing pokemon later using GTS

You have to approach it slowly.

The fish pokemon generally go for more than starters. Everybody on the GTS almost always has the full set because trading one baby starter for another is one of the most basic trades you can do.

Dashing in Lapras causes the spots to stop bubbling. You have to approach them at normal speed.
