Polyphony Digital are being SO scummy with their nerfs, funneling players into having to spend real money to collect cars?

It's a subscription based service, take it or leave it. There's also a bunch of content you get free with just the subscription.

With GT7 they are asking for £70 up front, for a game that has microtransactions and then on top of that you still need to subscribe to PS+ if you want to play online (in an online mode that is completely unfinished in it's current state). It's currently the worst of all worlds.
You pay for the got damn game on the top of the subscription on the top of cars and tracks.
Now your excuse is the online you have to pay. You pay 70 bucks for gt7 and you don't need to pay for anything else. How is that hard for you to understand?

No you don't. You can't "buy" iracing. There is no way to access it other than via the subscription. There's no up front cost other than your initial subscription fee.

Throughout this discussion I'm talking about my own personal use case with the game. If someone is only paying £70 and they don't play online and/or aren't interested in that side of things then good for them. But that's not me, hence I've been clear that I'd much rather they charge separately for any future DLC rather than that being "paid for" by those who lack control via the in-game microtransaction system.

You mean taking someone's screenshot after they brought credits and blurring it out poorly enough that people can still read it and pretending it pops up after a race or are you all in for the forced real money transactions that everyone has to do to finish the game.

Just so we are clear to respect your opinion or not.
Ah I see, so this window pops up after one buys credits. I am for the latter then. No MTX in a $70 game PERIOD. Any MTX is scummy in a full-price + $10 game, which also needs PS Plus ($65) per year.

Isn't this what you get from iracing?

You're confused because you clearly have no experience with iracing, if you did you'd know the difference.

Here are the weekly races for GT7:

And here are the weekly races for iracing:

It's not even a competition in terms of race event selection. And those are only the fixed races (no custom setups allowed). You can see for yourself here:

Beyond that you get seasonal endurance races (including 12/24h races) and a robust points and appeals system (yes, if you are unjustly deemed to be at fault for an incident and it has dire consequences for your irating/safety rating then there is actually a way to appeal via real people).

So no, the online system in GT7/Sport is not "unrivaled". Maybe on consoles, but in the grand scheme of things it's lacking in a number of key areas. I actually hoped they would improve things after sport but instead they have made things worse in a number of key areas.

And for the record, I'm someone who would like them to actually sort their shit out in this area because I'd race a lot:

Nah, see above.
So it just end to the amount of daily events? That is cool and all but that has nothing to do with race system and organization.
Plus you don't need to buy either tracks or cars in GT7.

Your comments is basically the same for GTS, GT7 and iRacing... that makes it confuse... because the keys features you support iRacing are the same as GTS or GT7.

That's the problem you have no idea what you talking about
And whatever people do with their money that's none of anybody business

How this any better?
Doesn't even access to the full game.

Also you have to pay to host private lobbies.come on mate. Are you serious?

No, read the post again.

On top of MTX, rigged roulette, low payouts and no-selling cars there is another giant turd in this game - LIMITED OFFERS for cars. This is such an obvious FOMO case and pushing ppl towards impulsive buying of MTX . I feel ashamed that I bought the game. In previous titles you just could chase your goal - wanted 5mil car? You were grinding and at some point you just bought the car. Now if you see a cool car you have limited time to buy it - so you can't grind. You either sit on pile of cash and wait for some cool limited offer or... rush to PSN to buy credits.

I wish I could refund the game right now. I don't want to support this kind of practices. Always online on top of it.

Almost every single problem of this game is because of MTX - shitty roulette, always online for SP (so you could not hack your money somehow), low payouts, no selling cars and fucking limited offers. What a bunch of bullshit this game came to be.
It is a feature found in old GTs games that the community wanted back.
User Cars Dealership have periods to sell old stuffs.

Ok this is scummy

Edit: To be clear, this pops up after one buys credits from the store, and not after a race. Still, the presence of MTX in a 1st party, $70 + PS Plus requiring game is scummy.
That explain why I never saw this screen.
The end race screen is totally different.

I'm still more confused.

You listed 3 key points to support iRacing.
Now you want me to understand that outside the 3 points it has more to it... and that is fine... iRacing is really great what it does.
So why did you not posted these things in your list of key points to support iRacing?

It just doesn't make sense because the original 3 points were not what made you support iRacing.

You can't even sell cars in this GT, wtf. They're deliberating pushing people into buying credits.
EA has that mechanism.

They have Sellable players, and non-sellable players(trash). The trash players can't be sold, so they occupy your inventory, while you waste the duplicates by accident.

I did my first 2 seasons with iracing with just the subscription alone. That's how fleshed out and in depth their simulation and online system is. There's a reason so many people are not only willing to subscribe but to also pay for the content they want. You have to pay to host private lobbied because they don't want you using private lobbies, they want you on the track with the rest of the community. And last time I checked, it was about 50 cents an hour. In the world of GT7 microtransactions that's not actually bad value.

Just a reminder, you brought iracing in to this discussion, not me. If you're going to do so then you should have figured out how the payment structure works, but you didn't.

GT7 couldn't create a payment structure like iracing even if they wanted to - they couldn't justify it with the current state of the game. What they could do however is get rid of the microtransactions, let people earn credits and grind how they want and then create DLC packs like pretty much every other non-subscription based racing game out there.

Lmfao fuck that. Why would pay for something you get for free?
Split the user base.
Also iracing will be forever niche. If wasn't for the streamers subscribers paying for their subscription I doubt you would see many people there. And if acc got their shit together and add oval races that game would be dead

Iracing is terrible example of monetisation is like you don't have a clue.
$12 for a car that could get in 30min or less in gt7

That's the thing. This is an old feature that the fans wanted back in the game, and would be there whether they sold Veruca Salt's credits or not.

Some people are just commenting based on not knowing a thing about the series. They see MTX and then see blood.

what happen in the daily c this week?

It was meant to be a fixed setup race, someone found an exploit which allowed them to enter cars that didn't have the fixed setup and had tunes on them. That led to them scrapping it being a fixed setup race.

The value the cars have in iracing is far beyond what GT offers in terms of simulation. Hence, people pay for them and the vast majority of the racing series are well populated.

If it were so easy then someone else would have come along and copied their system without the monthly fee. They've had enough time.

If you want to own everything currently available on iRacing, you have to pay $1.548.86, excluded your membership.

GT7 all you need is time dedication and patience to unlock everything. Yes MTX is inserted making that progress slower but people acting like GT7 has a paywall preventing progress and that PD invented MTX in racing games instead of trying to catch up to everyone else in the genre.

40 hours in and been doing everything, only on cafe book 16, haven't seen or used all the cars I've unlocked yet, and sitting at 3.5 mil from playing naturally. If I go quicker I'll be done in a few months and bored with it instead of still playing in a few years. Driving at top lv requires consistent practice.

MTX is a reality we have to live with and no one likes. Wait till you are 40+ and get to have regular colonoscopies and prostate checks, then you'll really understand what getting it up the ass without liking or wanting it in the first place really is.

The price on games has not gone up with the rate of inflation, how else do we get top quality games at subsidized prices in comparison with the rest of inflation?

Wish the maintenance would end already so I can stop bitching

people will still blindly buy it because playstation and because gran turismo.
That’s what I call stupid people . I honestly gave up on Sony ever since Andrew left and shu was no longer in charge.

Ever since Jim took the lead and the company became so greedy to make quick cash. I get it as a company but there is going to be backfire on them at one point in the future where they will if not already have bad reputation.

and you dont have the Option to play this $70 MTX game Offline. Scummy as Hell.
Yup.

Any game that does that is scummy. I dont think the typical console gamer expects free MP since it's behind PS+ and Gold paywalls even though there's been a rise of F2P games lately. Console gamers are used to it.

But to ban offline career modes with an excuse of "we want to prevent offline cheaters" is BS. It's obvious the strategy is GT is such a popular game, might as pressure gamers to sign up for PS+ and then hit them with mtx too.

Remember they'll only change it if people don't buy it.

How did this work out with horse armor?
How did this work out with battlepasses?
How did this work out with loot boxes?

Yeah, we are fucked!

Its pretending, that you don't have to spend money is the reason why we have mtx in alot of games.

People like material things. Spending money is the fastest way to get it.

So blame the people who want to buy them, not the system that let's them do it. Everyone on here has bought MTX at some point and made a rationalization as to why it was ok there, but bitch about it here. All of us have fed this beast, so either accept reality or feign concern.

The system allowed that option. Let's not put the blame on people.

The system gave the players the option to buy credits.

Compare to previous GT games: "just as grindy".
Proved that they were not.
Move goalposts to compare to iRacing

I game for 30+ years now, never bought MTX. Never!
They ask 70€ for the game. And they exploit their fanbase. Stop cheerleading for the billion $ corporations and stop defending shitty business practices.

MS is not your friend!
Sony is not your friend!
Apple is not your friend!
Google is not your friend!

The system allowed that option. Let's not put the blame on people.

The system gave the players the option to buy credits.
I'll blame them as long as they give them billions in profit. Things tend to stop happening when the pay stops. Online passes didn't disappear out of kindness from publishers, they stopped because it wasn't profitable.
Edit: people asked for these kind of options. How is anyone surprised it got exploited by a system that is meant to exploit.

You've never bought an expansion or anything like it....sure, but my point stands. Regardless of your moral and ethical standards, millions of others don't care. I'm not cheerleaders anything, I just recognize a revenue stream of people that don't seem as bothered as some feel they should be.

Weird because after Jim took place PD release a GT game with everything fans asked.
But hey the same people that hated GTS continue hating GT7.

The issue seems not to be the game but people minds lol

Ive never seen people defend this stuff. EA was voted the worst company in the WORLD many times over mostly due to their microtranscation policies, but when console makers do it, you are bound to see more people defend it because of their massive fanbases. EA has no such luxury of a rabid fanbase willing to defend every scummy practice.

Thankfully you can count on your fingers the number of people defending this. Most everyone else here understands just how deplorable this really is. it hurts to see this behavior over and over again from your favorite company but this just proves that none of these corporations are your friend.

Who is defending it?

I see people saying that it doesn't impact their experience at all. Yes MTX suck more often than not and fuck yes some are far more intrusive than others, but at the same time, some can play and enjoy a game without even remembering they exist until a thread pops up, and as long as they don't impact the game in a way that's P2W.

Also yes many people support it because they buy it. Proud owner of Oblivion horse DLC and I regret NOTHING.

There is a difference between defending MTX and not getting on board with some of the hyperbole.

An example of the hyperbole is bolded. You HAVE seen the daily sales charts threads bro.

Companies put these systems on their game. The blame is 100% on them, period.
