Polyphony Digital are being SO scummy with their nerfs, funneling players into having to spend real money to collect cars?

No one would have bought them, if the companies didn't put the mtx function on their games.

You are taking your defending for this very serious.
This isn't true though. Pretty sure people used to pay money for stuff in games before there were any actual ways to do it in game. Sure I heard about this is WoW.

Ask them, why would I know or care, all I'm getting at is its not just a sinple player game. What even is the problem with it being always online?
Always online DRM. thats why im pissed. If this goes on early this gen, you can imagine what will follow. They need to be called out. GT has always been a single player game 1st. but Now they have found ways to scum people to give then more cash. $70 game im ok with but MTX Always online bullshit i just cant.

Most are also conditioned to these models from their smart phones, so the ones that are aware of them, it's business as usual.

These companies make billions in MTX revenue, from smart phones to video games. More people know than you think, and more partake to keep the machine fed.
The worst is making exclusive items behind a paywall. Then you see streamers pulling these items. So people buy them, because they want to get those toys. The next you know, they spent $100k easily.

These companies know these behaviors. It isn't just a mobile thing. It's a social thing at this point. If you dont have these cool items, you are the lower class, who have no money. Which is honestly disgusting.

A great example of something else not to do, is Pokemon Trading Card Game Online.
It's a F2P game. Except players cannot buy cards in the client. (the mtx are codes redeemed from physical packs)

GT was single player out of necessity? How would MP work on PS1 or 2 for that matter at the time? How are people being scumed when none of this is a secret? This all seems like just another thing to complain about.

No thanks. There's good MTX and bad MTX. I'm fine with the bad MTX if it means games and general, that I enjoy, are still able to support themselves after launch and add more content.

You think a mammoth IP like GT isn't able to support itself post-launch without MTXs?

I'd expect to have to pay for cars with true-to-life modeling and handling. But is GT enough of a hardcore sim to justify it?

1. Of course no one would buy them if they didn't exist.

2.Players would just make an economy on their own.

If I'm defending anything, it's the fact that they exist and acting like it's an affront to gaming is nonsensical.

That's fair, but also beside the point. The existence of mtx only should matter to those that want them. My problem is how they're framed by companies. Just say what it is, "Some people wanna spend money on something and we give them that something. Whatever it is."

Also, how do we know that it may not have scored higher with them included? "A good time saver for those who don't have time for the traditional GT grind." Stranger things have happened.

I think it was already established that average age of gamers is in their twenties now. People make a conscious and informed decision to spend their own money.
I know, I'm just constantly confused why people always want to act like mtx are new to scene and act as if protection needs to be served to those who don't know the evils of mtx and the evil corps that sell them what they want.

Most people don't buy MTX. Only a minority spends money on that. But that's what these companies are catering for, rich individuals that have more money than sense: Whales.
So these game mechanics, are made for a minority of rich gamers. Companies don't care about gamers that don't spend money o MTX.

You think companies make billions in revenue from a minority of its audience?

Polyphony Digital probably extra hired one of those "monetization specialists" to come up with this shit. At this point, probably every western developer has one.
Man, it's a fucking joke what's become of the gaming industry :messenger_grinning_squinting:. It's not only Gran Tourismo, though. Lootboxes, microtransaction, games as a service, NFTs, you name it!
Just watch what's gonna happen with Street Fighter 6. They are going to try to sell as many DLC characters as possible, puroposefully making them OP during every season, only to nerf them month later, in order to sell as much as possible of the next OP dlc character.

Gamers are being played like a damn fiddle! You pay 70 dollars for what? To get fucked over? You motherfuckers better stock up on some classic consoles, because the golden age of video games will never come back. From now on it's gonna get worse and worse until the inevitable crash.

You know what the gaming industry needs? A 4th player (not Valve) on the market. A console (company) made by gamers for gamers with a strict "no bullshit" publishing policy: no lootboxes, microtransaction, games as a service, NFTs, half-finished games and other bullshit. Or some sort of "indie game console". Let's make it a non-profit company on top of that. All these greedy motherfuckers can kiss my ass!

minority can spend $5-$10. That is alot of money, over a period of a long time.

100k spending $10 a month will generate $1m every time, they spend that much. Same with 500k spending $5, who will generate $2.5m. That is a total of $3.5m from 600k people a month, or $42m a year. That is a minimum spending.

They would have CALLED THEM OUT on the whole YOU NEED TO HAVE ONLINE TO PLAY THIS GAME. Bullshit. they just didnt know it had MTX that why it needed Always Online.
Who is they? The people that bought the game and found out or the reviewers who don't finish games? Maybe the folks who didn't and/or wouldn't so it doesn't affect them. Calling them out, please, all that's happening is online displeasure with a for profit industry doing for profit things. How much different is sport? MTX must have been absent there.

You don`t get it!
MTX do not just affect people who want the items or buy them.

The ingame economy, the grind, the reward system are developed in a way to make the mtx more attractive.

-Just a little more grind,
-a little less rewards,
-a little less enjoyment

to boost mtx sales.
The stuff is not put in the game to not be sold.
This shit affects all users, because there needs to be an incentive to pay extra.

You have to prove this to me. I never felt like I had to do anymore than I normally would when I was playing DMC5. Nor with any jrpg I've played. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but going out of your way to put sand in your vagina (not you, in general)because it MIGHT be the case is baffling. Most times it seems more perceived from hearing about it than actually noticing.

Read the first post, they nerfed the reward system.

i dont get you. even if it a minority that got the game early or reviewers at least they know whats in the game.
Lets say Sony came out and said GT7 will be Always Online $70 game with MTX from the start. How would u think the gaming media would have responded. If the is Black let call it the way it is. lets stop finding ways around it. Im a gamer who have been gaming for 20+ yrs it pain me to see how Sony is going is gen. If we(gamers) dont call them for their BS they would never change. This way always happens when Sony has a successful gen. Same with PS2 to PS3 now with PS4 to PS5.

Pretty sure the always online 70$ mtx has been know from the beginning. What's the last GT game launched without mtx? If you've been gaming so long you should have seen where the industry was going, not Sony.

thats not what happen lol

some races isnt the all system, people are pissed because they nerfed the ranch race
Is this really about one race? Excuse me for not reading the entire op, but I had a feeling it was a bit much to see keywords like "scummy" and "exploitative" about playing a game.
Sorry for double post

It wasnt when i was first shown. the marketing of this game has been shady AF. so u are say the industry is going so should Sony. NFT, Metaverse, MTX and lootboxes. We should just keep quite to all the scummy ways of making players pay cash because. Did u forget abt the XBone. is cos gamers didnt keep quite about xbox not having exclusive now look how they turned things around.

You think a trailer is going to give you the price, even though you had been told they were raising the price prior, ever? Always Online, known well before the actual launch. Hope you were in the thread bitching about it then.

2 of the 4 things you mention as problems are standard now. Yell from the rooftops as much as you want, they're here to stay. Metaverse and NFT that a whole different thing as they're new and apparently not doing to hot, but that's because most don't care so they don't buy. You know actual shit we can still control

Bring back the days of GT Sport when cars were a couple quid.

I was wondering when I'd reach a point where I saw arguments of "bring back X version of monetisation". Looks like we won't have people campaigning for everything to be included in the initial package anymore.

No I mean I'm pretty sure that in games like WoW people were trading real money for items or accounts outside of the game. So in the which came first I think gamers created the demand for mtx before companies added it to their games.

It's like I was saying, people get upset about them charging this way because they wanna be charged another way

Diablo 2, the original had it. Gamers showed them how they could monetize single item and currency.

Yep, mule factory has been around a long time, and there were other sites years before it too.

Remember when everyone wanted a proper Gran Turismo again and now we have that, grind included, all everyone seems to do is complain about the grind as if they've never played a Gran Turismo before.

They did increases as well. A table was posted in the GT7 thread that has a couple of races that went from 5k to 70k

Was waiting for the shill, well there he is. FU

Some people don't understand how bad the economy is in GT7, you need to be a freak at the game and play the same race over and over again for atleast 300+ times to buy 1 YES 1 expensive car. I have just over 40h in this game and got the 1.1M from my 25th year edition and won 1M credits from one of my vouch and my total earnings are 10.3M after more than 40H. That shit is insane and i got gold on all the menu book races and license tests on the hardest difficulty. So after more than 80H of grinding the same shitty race i can buy 1 expansive car that i can't even test drive to see if its worth it. Thats also a thing, if they where not this scummy they would let us test drive all the cars without giving credits and progression, just a test drive mode. And don't forget the tires which where free on every car in GTS, which cost now 27K and rally cars don't even have rally tires you need to buy them FFS to play the rally events. I love the driving in this game, love its graphics, love its sounds and the other things but they fucked up big time with all the MTX shit. And yes i have grinded the Fisher rally event the last 4 days where i got some decent cash luckily which is included in the 10.3M btw.

Oh I want the old days back don't get me wrong, but it's so obvious we're never getting them that I'll accept an okayish mtx model.

It's sad really.

There a list of some races where some get higher prizes now and other get less prizes.

But what made some amused is the fact that the rally race used to grind credits (because it gives more credits per length/difficult than others tracks) was nerfed.

It that any different from old GT games?

I remember GT6 best place to get credits was Route X Like the Wind 4 minutes that give you 43k credits.

If you look at the GT7 rewards I see very little difference.

Same for GT5 (but you could use AI to the races and use the web browser to set them).

There was 2 races with increased rewards as they gave almost nothing before.
There was 16 races with rewards slashed by 30-60%

So like you are in it can you share the credits per minute of each of these races before and after the changes?

Just to point that those two races are some of the most time consuming in the entire game, the 24 hour (24 minutes real time) le man's can be a real drain after awhile, you start to make mistakes.

It's nice to see there rewards upped as they do feel like alot of work, however yeah... having others decreased just sucks.
