Xbox One and PS4 released four years ago...Wii U released in 2012 at five years ago
let's assume this gen has another two-four years in it... what do you foresee and hope for in the coming tailend of this generation.
Take a look at some significant highlights the first half of this gen has provided:
Four original home consoles, two slim editions, two 4k Pro editions
one semi-successful VR set up
one failed Kinect
one useless touch pad
Xbox Backwards compatibility
Xbox Play Anywhere
Increased online service costs (ps+, nintendos service, etc.)
Capturing and Sharing media with consoles
Some incredibly well done fake leaks ( Smash Bros, Switch, etc)
The split of the industry's leading forum
even stronger support of remasters/remakes - (FFVII, REMake2, etc.)
Nintendo going "mobile" (mario run, pkmn go, etc.)
No Man's Sky - blunder and their survival
Lootboxes and even more in your face microtransactions
Crossplatform multiplayer
Kojima's departure from Konami
eSports rising quickly
downfall of Capcom
the departure of Jack Tretton, Peter Moore, and Satoru Iwata
I know there is plenty more, but seeing how much has gone down already, what are your thoughts on what's to come from the big three? What are your hopes?
will the industry slow down a bit in the later years? Some heavy hitters still to come in 2018, but not too much has been discussed further down the line. will there be one more wave of big titles that end up being cross-gen?
