LOS ANGELES -- Dec. 29, 2005 -- LEFT BEHIND: Eternal Forces, the highly-anticipated
PC game based on the blockbuster fiction series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins,
went on pre-sale at more than 3,500 locations across the country.

The Sneak Peek Pack, which includes a unique bracelet, special access to key
codes that assist in conquering multiple levels of game play and a DVD featuring
the official trailer, is available for pre-sale at GameStop and EB Games. Fans
can reserve for $5, one of the first copies of the game and receive the Sneak
Peek Pack, while supplies last.

LEFT BEHIND: Eternal Forces is scheduled to ship by Easter 2006. The game puts
players in command of an apocalyptic battle between the Tribulation Forces and
the Global Community Peacekeepers during the End of Days raging in the streets
of New York City. Gamers will participate in events from the Left Behind book
series and experience newly written material.

According to Troy Lyndon, CEO for Left Behind Games, the company has devoted
more than 3 years to the development of LEFT BEHIND: Eternal Forces.

"We are looking forward to releasing one of the highest-quality PC games of this
genre and anticipate a positive reaction from both gamers and those eternally
minded," said Lyndon.

It's even more fun to make fun of those who can't seperate evangelists/fundies from other christians.

Why not show a non biased, unprejudice post like this:

" There's a Left Behind game in the making. Publisher is hoping game will be as successful as the books. etc. etc."

Or critique it:

Game has vibrant environment:

Buldings could use some texture work though:

I'm all for making jokes. I thought the protestant one in the other thread was funny, but it's clear Matlock is trying to upset Christians with his comments. There's a difference between making fun of a game and making fun of peoples' religion.

So uh, its a RTS? Looks like a WC3 clone.

I thought it was a Christian GTA clone in which you can do nothing bad. The goal is to hand spread the word by handing out bibles, and making sure you get to church on time in hectic, rush-hour traffic.

Does anyone here even know or care what Left Behind is really about or is it just fun to make fun of anything remotely Christian in nature and assume it has to be stupid and bad?

Sure -- Left Behind is about "The Rapture" -- an interpretation of the Book of Revelations to which only a small minority of Christians subscribe.

There. No one's making fun of all Christians. Now I feel better.

Perhaps ... maybe, just maybe, gamers don't want this kind of crap to exist in games due to the additional garbage that comes with it? That's how I feel anyway. Keep religion out of gaming. Gaming should be fun or, failing that, educational. While I'm certain the developer's working on a fine title, the screenshots don't look half bad, I disagree with the idea of making a game based around any particular religion.

That has to be one of the most retarded things i've heard. Games are not government, it's a form of media and entertainment. I suppose you think there should never be a religious movie made, or music made, or books even. Let's just throw the whole "freedom of religion" out the window because YOU don't want it to exist.

Or you could just not buy it.

For the record, I'm not striking at Christianity, I'm striking at the laughable commercial venture offshoot that has made itself more prevalent of late.

I was going to reply but you pretty much said it better than I could have. So as they say: QFTaJ! (and Justice!, not Jesus, but in this case I guess Jesus works pretty good as well)

I wouldn't mind religion explored in a game if it was handled with maturity and added something substantial to the experience. In fact, I would welcome that in a story. It would be a helluva lot more interesting than what we've seen as of late.

But Left Behind... ugh. A trashy secular novel series in Christian drag.

I think it's because all Christian games up to this point have been crappy budget games. Chill out everyone.

You mean Adam. That's a rip on Michelangelo's "Creation of Adam", in which Adam has his dong out. Adam is supposed to be naked, because, well, it's pretty explicit in the Bible that Adam was naked until he ate the fruit and realized he was naked, whereupon he fashioned a fig leaf apron.

Heh, I didn't realize God had clothes on until you noted that--I'd only previously seen the picture in small detail and when I found a larger version I noted that the pudgy bit of flesh was indeed a tunic.

That whole bit distracted me from the clothes on Adam, which is simply mindboggling. I don't know why that would be edited, as fine art should pass the "offensive" filter. Strike up one for whitewashing, I guess.

I have seen left behind 1 and 2 and they are both absolutely retarded. The series deserves all the hate it gets.

It's like Christian Fundamentalist Fanfic, but poorly written. Someone on SA called it on that and made his attempt to write his own fanfic version, it was leagues above anything quoted from the Left Behind series and really entertaining.

The movies are pretty corny. The books on the other hand (particularly the first two, before they decided to stretch a trilogy into 12 books) are pretty good.

What are they thinking? I'm a christian and even I know that the devil's already got all the good game developers.
