Preorder refund system on PSN

So now that the shit has hit the fan with The Order, and no doubt right now and over the next few days, Sony will be inundated with people requesting refunds, as they no doubt did for Driveclub as well.

Will this finally be it? Will the controversy surrounding The Order being a mediocre exclusive that was in development for a long time be the catalyst for such a system similar to Origin to be introduced on PSN?

Considering they are struggling to even deliver Suspend/Resume, a feature that was promised before the PS4's launch, I personally doubt it, and it makes me angry with myself that I bought into this before reviews arrived. Preordering is very much dead to me.

You were right all along, GAF.

It'd be nice, but, no. You could have pre-ordered physically.

If people were to stop pre-ordering digitally in the first place, that might help them change the way it works.

Will be determined if a refund will be given. Drive club was a fundamentally broken game at launch which took time to repair. Makes sense it was refunded. The order is just a game with bad reviews. I don't think Sony will refund based on it being bad.

While I'm not as anti-pre order as most, digital preorders always seem like a bad idea to me.

I hope they don't so people will quit pre-ordering and hopefully we will start to see the decline of these pre-order BS promotions.

I pre-order games, like collector's editions, as I'm worried they might be short on stock. I don't really understand digital pre-orders. But I also don't let people's opinions about something decide a purchase.

You can pre order in EU without paying until release.

I only pre-order games that I KNOW I want to play. I pre-ordered The Order because I have to know. Same reason I pre-ordered Arkham Knight. Even if that does turn out to be a suck sandwich, I still want to play it. Pre-ordered Infamous because I loved the first two that I would try whatever they put out next under that name. If you're not sure you're going to want a game, don't pre-order it. But if you do, then do it, and don't complain that it's not great. Easy.

PS: When I say "pre-order," I really just mean release day Amazon shipping. But that counts, right?

I dont have a PS4(XB1 only atm), I am all digital and think refunds should only be given for broken games like Halo(got a refund for it) Unity and DriveClub. Just because a game is mediocre doesn't entitle you to a refund.

Only reason I got a refund for a digital title, was because the Halo:MCC was/still is a broken mess. Seems like The Order works just fine, outside of the fact that the critics dislike it. Get some enjoyment out of your investment, because you're most likely not getting your money back...

yup, there is a place for preorders, but digitally, at full price, on a new IP, with no cancel button is not that place.

Those I call ignorant and stupid. Driveclub was broken (for a period of time). That`s one thing. With The Order we all knew what to expect.

Yeeeaah, about that pre-ordering things digitally... Don't do it, you should have known what you were sacrificing when you clicked buy.

Now if you excuse me I'm going to pre-order Bloodborne digitally, that can't possibly fuck up.

People who pre-order
digitally
deserve all the shit they can get. Actually companies should charge you twice if you pre-order a game.

What's the point of preordering a digital game?

For the consumer? The minor benefit of preloading.

For the publisher? The major benefit of racking up sales (that are unrefundable and untradeable!) based on marketing rather than the final quality of the product.

Hey is this the 3rd the order circle jerk thread I understand people love a dogpile/circle jerk/bandwagon.

You guys are on point today.

Also pre-ordering anything if $60 is that important to you is stupid.

Why preorder something if your waiting for reviews. Don't know why anyone Preorders anything. Gone are the days of games selling out.

Driveclub doled out refunds because it was broken. The Order won't be getting that because some gamers won't like a shorter experience.

If you aren't completely sure, either don't preorder or preorder physically. At least with the latter, you can cancel.

Nah, obscure Japanese games are harder to find locally. Even Bayo 2 was an issue until maybe two weeks after release.

Just don't pre-order anything... unless it's Nintendo branded and therefore likely to be out of stock in five minutes.

I hope they don't. People should be held accountable for their own consumer practices at some point.

If I pre-order something(which I still do occasionally) and it turns out crap, I'm not going to complain to anyone or point fingers elsewhere or demand I should get my money back. I could have avoided the situation by not pre-ordering.

Refunds should only happen for functionally broken games(and no, a game that runs at 25fps is not 'broken').

There is no substantiate reason to offer refunds for The Order. Driveclub was broken on release and resulted in limited server availability which lead to refunds being given. Just because a game is divisive and "short" doesn't mean the buyer deserves a refund.

That's just stupid. I hope this teaches people to learn some common sense about spending their money instead of expecting to be babied when they make bad financial decisions.

If you call\chat in and request a refund on a pre-order, they usually have no issue giving it to you.

(I've done it like 4 times so far.)

(I'm just going to stop pre-ordering games.)

But we're talking about digital preorders, here. They're never going out of stock on the digital release. It really doesn't make sense not to wait a few more hours to play the game on launch day.

Even if you KNOW you're interested in a game based on pre-release footage, there's always the off chance that the game is broken on release day. I just don't see the benefit to a digital preorder.

Preorders of physical items (especially as a Nintendo fan) are a different story.
