Prime Matter, the new publishing label under Koch Media, and developer Myrkur Games have announced narrative-driven third-person action adventure game Project Echoes of the End for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. A release date was not announced. It is being built on Unreal Engine 5.

Here is an overview of the game, via Prime Matter:

The game is a narrative-driven third-person action adventure set in a unique fantasy world. Players step into the role of Ryn, a seasoned fighter with the unique ability to manipulate and destroy matter, taking players on a journey to a unique Fantasy world with a rich lore and breathtaking landscapes.
The highly ambitious action adventure is the first title developed by Myrkur Games, a pocket-sized studio located in Reykjavik, Iceland, that is extremely motivated to deliver a new approach to storytelling.

“We’re incredibly excited to announce our partnership with Koch Media for the development of our upcoming action adventure game,” said Myrkur Games CEO and game director Halldor S. Kristjansson in a press release. “Koch shares our high ambition and passion to deliver phenomenal gaming experiences, and their team has been wonderful to work with. Koch empowers us to do what we do best, and we couldn’t be more excited to show you some of what we have in store.”

When it comes to a completely new announcement and new IP from the Summer Game Fest though, this one definitely seems the most interesting to me.

Whenever I see a poc inserted into what clearly looks to be inspired by european medieval times, I immediately wonder why? Why can't poc have worlds of their own? Why are their no games based around other cultures throughout history?

Why is the only thing supposed artists are able to do to bring diversity, is to insert a token ethnicity into medieval Europe?

Aren't other continents good enough or something?

I love medieval europe, but this always feels like a completely missed opportunity. I want to see those worlds, but no. Fuck you player, no african mythology for you, forget about playing a praerie native in a vast rpg, keep dreaming of that inka game. You're shit outta luck.

Absolutely agree, there are so many great worlds and mythologies waiting to be explored, it's crazy that so many have chosen not to yet.
Both African and Asian (excluding Japanese) mythologies are severely missing in the current landscape.

I’ve been waiting for someone to make a hardcore action game or survival horror based around Aztec culture for a while. Could use more Egyptian settings too. It seems like most fantasy settings are medieval Europe or Japan inspired, which makes sense given the western and Japanese dominance in the gaming market, but I wanna see something new. There’s plenty of other old civilizations to take inspiration from. Fuck give me a Gilgamesh game or something.
