Just waiting for either Yesasia or NCSX to start taking pre-orders. I would pre-order at Play-Asia but they don't ship Sony stuff to Europe. :(

Will import if I can change it to English and use international PSN accounts on it.
This. And said accounts connect to their respective stores.

And yeah, I really need some official statement saying that it is region free.

Indeed, would be a shitty surprise to find out after it's been shipped. I do believe it will be, but nothing can be taken for granted nowadays.

So, I noticed he said MOST dl psp titles will be compatible with Vita, not all. And then he went on about a possible trade-in, discount program for umd owners who want digital versions of the game. Thought it was interesting.

The Vita launch has been one of the biggest backfires since... well, the 3DS launch. Sure, it actually has games, but the release timing couldn't have been worse. One week before Christmas will cause absolute chaos for the parents who can't get one for their children, and will in turn drive people towards securing a 3DS instead, or some other gadget like an iPhone 5. And let's not even get started on the 2012 delay for the rest of the world. Disgraceful way of killing hype.

17.12, eh? Looks like they really were affected by the quake, because that´s pretty late for a planned 2011 launch.

Play-asia won´t send to my region (lol Yurop), so I won´t import a Vita, even though I imported my PSP.

No noticeable difference between the JP and NA versions?
What was the import price?

I didn't import since I live in Japan, just bought them at the electronics stores. The only difference is that the Japanese (and Asian) model uses O for accept and X for cancel/decline.

I'm not sure if your even serious here, but Japan's largest releases are on the eve of Christmas. Its not uncommon for a massive release to come on the 24th, as the 25th is more a commercial holiday where shops are still open out there. Its a perfect launch time. Sucks for those wanting to import, because international shipping means its doubtful you would get it before new year (unless you UPS'd it).

As for the delay. I'd rather they delay it and it actually got some decent launch titles, then they realising hardware that has no software for it. the 3DS will do a lot better in the US and Europe with the lack of the Vita for sure, but I'm not really sure you can even put an iPhone5 here as its double the unlocked price of any gaming related console/handheld

Any reputable place in Japan I can pre-order this from? Amazon.jp doesn't orders up yet. Want to send it to my friend who will deliver it here

Erm. I agree that missing Christmas is terrible for the West, but this is great timing for Japan, no?

fingers crossed for region-free. Are we just assuming based on PSP/PS3, or have Sony made any statements?

And good that most games are physical media. If I import I'll want physical cards for a few launch games, don't want to tie my machine to a JPN PSN account, will want to use my UK one to redownload my PSP games.

"In a PlayStation Vita session for European and Australian press at E3 today, Michael Denny, Sony's Vice President of Sony Worldwide Studios Europe, confirmed that - to the best of his knowledge - Vita would be region free. "

Take it as you will.

edit: far too late

Has anyone else noticed that every single version of the new Lego Harry Potter game will be released in November while the Vita one comes out on March 30th? That's what Amazon Germany says and I somehow think this could be the Vita release date as well. All other games have a placeholder release date... Just Harry Potter has a real one.

Preorders aren't being taken until the 15th October, so I doubt the reputable places will take any until then.

I want to, but fuck the large premium that will surely be put on it.
I look forward to seeing what insultingly high price Play Asia charge for it. Their 3DS price was hilarious.

Fuck them for the 3DS. I hope they lost money on that. "Hey we'll charge you Ebay prices because we fucking can". No fuck you PA, you charge me the MSRP along with shipping prices but don't try to rip me off. Seriously fuck them for that.

Anyway what would be the best places for preorder in Oct.? Or should we just do a pre-order thread when the 15th comes around?

The biggest megaton was that it basically had none. Not even 3rd HD.

I'm not sure that's true, unless it was regular 3rd PSP, I know for fact one of the montage videos had it shown for a few seconds. I think we have to wait for Capcom's show for more details.

Play Asia has always done that on hardware though.

It was probably Portable 3rd PSP. They showed it at the "Playstation Meeting" unveiling back in January.

Then why do people preorder through them? There has to be alternatives other than a company that you know is going to rip you off.

Was there any megaton at the conference last night?

More like a Meh-gaton.

But those two new Square titles for launch could be nice. Too bad we only saw a logo... for launch titles we never even knew existed.

That show was 99.5% about features. Well, TGS full steam ahead, though I'll probably watch the keynote. Maybe I should get some booze for that so I can point and laugh at the repeated fail to use a huge event to hype up the Vita.
Or they surprise me and do one hell of a keynote about the Vita focusing on games and I'll be all "hell yeah."

With booze I win both ways :p

I predict around $600 for the Wi-Fi only model

Someone told me Sam Bishop confirmed it yesterday so the information that it is seems reliable.

Is Sony even capable of having a good conference anymore? That sounds even worse than E3...

If its out in the US/EU around march, then the sensible thing to do is wait. But i'm in japan at Christmas... And the UK usually gets screwed on exchange rates anyway...

I never understood this line of thinking. So you will get your kid something he doesn't wants/is less desirable, instead of agreeing with him he can get his dream Christmas present a week or two later? My parents did that with me all the time, on Christmas I often got only sweets.
