The Official Playstation blog just announced that the the DUALSHOCK 3 rumble controllers have started shipping to stores and should be on sale by next week, a week earlier than the original street date.

The DS3 includes pressure sensors that rumble with each action and the SIXAXIS motion controls. The asking price if a whopping $55. The post included a "complete" list of titles that will support the DS3 at launch, a list that is much shorter than the one released at TGS, though that list included titles that still haven't hit stores and this one doesn't. All new releases that support rumble will now have a DS3 compatible icon on them, according to the blog. Playstation is also a page on the official Playstation website dedicated to games with force feedback support.

Hit the jump for the list of available games that support the new controller, titles with asterisks will require a patch to use rumble. For those title the patch will automagically download to your console when you start it up.

I'm still waiting for my White DS3 to arrive from Play-Asia. It shipped last Wednesday.

My friend imported one and I thought the rumble was very weak. The controller feels heavier now, which is good.

The rumble feels pretty much the same as the DS2 to me. I like the added weight, and the more solid feel of it.

34.79 euro if you import it.

Yeah but knowing my luck I'd get stung for import tax, which would bump up the price to a pretty unacceptable level for a controller.

It's ok though because according to Sony we enjoy waiting for stuff here. Party time all around.

Let me guess - still nothing for us in Europe then?
You should've imported a long time ago if you live in Europe. I got mine for €40 from YesAsia when it's probably gonna cost €55 or more in stores over here.

I think it depends on the implementation. I've played games with strong rumble and using the rumble diagnostic options in MGS1 seemed as strong (and maybe a bit sharper).

Sorry, I don't wipe my ass with hundred dollar bills, or nothing, so every cent matters to me.

So what do you do when the batteries in you're 360 controller die out?

C'mon $5 is nothing today, can't even get a decent burger combo for $5.

Hey how about this? You shut the fuck up and don't buy it and we all go on commenting on it as if your inane complaining never actually happened. Sound good? Okay cool.

Who the heck is going to buy these for MSRP?

If you're smart enough to be on GAF, then you are probably smart enough to check out CAG or fatwallet or some other gaming coupon outlet. Controllers are regularly discounted on Amazon as well, I picked up the limited edition Halo 360 controllers for $35 and a sixaxis for $20 during Amazon sales. As for a DS3, I got a white one for $47 from play-asia.

Keep on the look out, the deals are there and like Evander said, not everyone is made of money, so why not save a few bucks if you can.

Does this mean that the PS3s will start coming with them?

I wouldn't expect that to happen for a bit, but who knows. Does the MGS4 bundle mention anything as for as DS3 included?

I imported a DS3 and am glad I did.

However, I still have two SixAxis controllers that occasionally "drop-out" on me. I'm wondering if I should go trade those in and pick up another DS3 when it hits. At this time I can't imagine any 3 or 4 player PS3 games that I would need more than 2 controllers for.

You should try it.

Also, if $5 matters to you, maybe buying a $50 controller when you have a controller that works perfectly fine is not the best use of your money.

....may be waaaay in the minority here, but I actually sold off my White imported DS3 to a coworker....Still very much in love with the "feel" of the SIXAXIS and don't care for the added weight due to rumble (as I never use rumble in any game)....also, I really disliked the "Clickyness/stickyness" added to the D-Pad and Analogs

...with that, I need to get around to buying another Sixaxis before they go the way of the Wavebird :D

My left stick is FUCKED from running in COD4, as in it sits noticably higher than the right stick and it causes all kinds of character drifting when the conroller is sitting at rest. Not Tokyo Drifting mind you, that's sexy. Just annoying drift.

And I DON'T press too hard, I'm just fucking mighty, alright! This never happened with my PS2. They just simply made the Suckaxis puny and the weakness enrages my fingers.

Overall the DS3 is a pretty bullshit re-up. They shouldn't even be making money on this. At cost Sony, because you fucked up the first time.

This gen, every fucking company has some serious dirt on them. It's a shame because you think by now they would be getting this shit right on the steady.

I grab my play-and-charge cable.

And I wouldn't know about burger combos. I gave up red meat arbitrarily about a year ago.

Still, every dollar adds up. With the ammount of driving I do every week, any spare money at all is important.

Yes. The bundle comes with a DS3.

Then I would imagine that is the first we will see of them. Who knows if they will be standard after that.

I've always liked you and your name, but this weakness sickens me.

There is nothing arbitrary about giving up red meat. It's a betrayal. Repent.

Even though they're a bit early, I'm still glad I got my white DS3 from Playasia for only $54. Can't wait until it gets here. Hopefully, it'll be this week.

Only picking it up because I've killed my launch controller with 100s of hours of Resistance.
