I'd say they are already using some sort of emulator for specific titles. PS3 hardware has been out of production since 2018.

Well, I'm still impressed that a lot of you guys can do it and cope with it. Navigating the menu without using a mouse to click and scroll around sounds like a tedious thing.
So once again, respect to all you console players with these (old) first person games.

There are definitely worse cases out there, like when a game features a traditional cursor and forces you to move it with one of the analogue sticks, or when you need to press certain button combinations for various actions because all the single button commands are already taken. Sure managing your inventory or generally using the Pip-Boy is easier on PC, but I didn't feel like I was fighting with the user interface.

Sony have had too much of a free pass for years now about their ps3 catalog...
They arent even remastering the games from the gen that arguably placed them as number 1 (even though the following Gen was the official moment, the PS3 and its exclusives and their first party studios pumping out bangers lead up to that ps4 victory)

But I think it's just a case of just how far I've removed myself from that God awful platform and it's shitty practices.
My PS5 has literally sat in the same place, watching my PC, all sad looking.
The last thing I played on it was Stella Blade, I think the disc is still in it
I'm just glad that got a PC release.

When did this happen? Tried Killzone 2 a few months back and ico were fine. Fine for cloud anyway. Hate cloud and sold the portal most hotels coulsnt use it

Just tried it myself and sure nuff, PS3 streaming is borked. PS4/PS5 streaming works fine.

That's why MS is moving away from using Console hardware to dual-purpose Magnus hardware in the future.
Oh damn, if true, that's like 3-400 PS3 games removed from PS+ Premium. Unless they finally have their emulator working.
If the yellow light really killed most of their PS3 server blades, that would explain things.

It would be a really dumb move to remove support for PS3 streaming without replacing it with "normal" PS3 emulation (without having to rely on the cloud). This feature of Premium PS+ is already a tough sell with not that many PS3 games being added to the existing collection and many games missing from the list.

Until there's a proper official emulator, or official support for backward compatibility through emulation is released, the only real way to play PS3 games on a console is to own a PS3 (which, by the way, isn't that expensive, well, not yet. I actually expect prices to rise). There are no other options.

Eh, it's a bit sad but understandable. Last time I used PS3 emulation (to play inFamous), image quality was awful (as it is a PS3 game running with the limitations of a PS3 + streaming), so not ideal.
It was fantastic 10 years ago but now it shows its age.

I don't think it will, at least not until next gen. They are likely just streamlining everything to using PS5 or more likely PS6 Orion server blades.

that needs fixing until that PS support told that user PS3 streaming is going away. Either Sony is contracting Cloud Gaming rather than expanding or they have something big planned.

You need to undestand that support most of the time not even associated with the company, frontline support usually offloaded to 3rd party companies that's why their scripts may vary.

I don't have it, just tried. Every PS4 ( PS2, PS1, PSP included for streaming) games works fine. Only streaming for PS3 games doesn't work. You can try it for yourself

Yeah agreed this is the way to go, but until they get this up and running I have paid for a subscription without access to a ket component.
You never know though, you could be on to something maybe they have early Orion blades running PS3 emulation and they are going to start using those (we can but dream). Presumably these may even allow improvements via the emulation.

with that said, it's kind of retarded to blow up over some games that run in all modern hardware, there's just a few exclusives left on the ps3 library at this point, like mgs4... so everything else can be accessed pretty much anywhere and in better quality than ps3 streaming

Shame but I can't say it's a service I ever used or was even interested in. Which is probably why no one is really talking about because most people just don't care. I'm to caught up with all the new games they are releasing going back to some PS3 game isn't even something I've thought about doing.
