Dat 6x drive. Probably not a silenced drive. Could be why the drive in the Bone is bigger.

Yeah it's the ramp speed for faster drive. On the plus side it means the drive doesn't spin as long because the data goes faster.

If you buy a PS4 disc, it only works on PS4 so it's still the Sony ecosystem.

This was already known. It's still installing. It gets quieter after it's done.
Yes but it's harder to get out when you go digital -- you can't trade in digital games.

I wish you could install your games and not have to use the disc to play - I hate that. I try to get most things digitally, but Australia gets done over with prices on digital games. I'd go all digital if I could, just for speed and noise reasons - not having to find a place for a new game case is another bonus.

It's a faster Bluray drive, it was always going to be louder than the PS3 and as others have said once it is finished installing it is far quieter.
