I'm honestly surprised it took as long as it dod, but when you think about it the system barely had any Japanese games for it for almost 2 years.

A non-event.

And the fact that it took years, a price drop and a new model, makes it even less impressive.

Truly a battle for SCRAPS.

Why are they so close?
Because Japan do not really care about next generation and are more of a Nintendo handheld country. When PS3 launched it was outsold by PS2 for a long time, in fact those who had launch PS3 consoles played PS2 games for the most part.

They're happy with their backlogs.

Wonder what kind of impact ffxv/p5 will have on the ps4, of if this is about the size of that audience over there.

Also amazing how much of a cultural phenomenon splatoon was over there.

Vita?

PS4 will easily outsell Vita (5.193.428).

I mean, sony will support ps4 for longer than they did vita, so I think that's possible - but how long will it take to get another 2 million if it took 3 years to get to 3 million? Will ffxv/ff7r/kh3 be the catalyst to speed up sales?

GGGRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

Seriously though i'm a bit surprised it took this long.
... ? Japan was pretty much the one country where the WiiU was "somewhat" successful though, so yeah, considering the time differential in releases (late 2012 vs early 2014), well done Sony, in a market that is just becoming harsher and harsher.

Good luck to Ninty with the NX, they'll probably need it imo, even with their baked-in audience.

I'll add the release date comparation.

XBO is not worth for this comparation though. u_u

P5 was the PS4s saving grace it seems. Very curious to see if it gets an NX port because that would do gangbusters in Japan.

Only 3 million install base? Final Fantasy XV isn't hitting 1 million in Japan :/

More incentive for PC/NX ports?
