PS5 Logo Attracts Double the Attention of Xbox Series X Reveal on Instagram

"We stayed up until 1:30am last night to watch Sony's Jim Ryan reveal the official PlayStation 5 logo so that you didn't have to, but that didn't stop millions of people across the globe from sharing the news across social media. In fact, Sony's simple Instagram post has more than double the likes of Microsoft's Xbox Series X announcement and the Japanese giant didn't even have a console to show.

At the time of writing, the official PlayStation Instagram account can boast of a whopping 4.2 million likes on its PS5 logo reveal while the Xbox Series X announcement trailer debuted at The Game Awards 2019 is sitting at 1.8 million views. A separate post made on the same day detailing the name and the box itself currently has just under 990,000 likes a month later. It is worth noting that PlayStation also has more than double the amount of followers Xbox does on Instagram, but this is clearly proof that the Sony fanbase is eager for further information.

Makes sense.

A huge chunk of the PlayStation audience skews on the younger side -- and we're talking on a global scale here, so lots of dirty Android users.

Microsoft has a smaller audience overall, but that audience is older, typically makes good money and own iPhones.

As I say it before.

The first problem of Xbox series X... Its the itself name and confusing the costumers with Xbox One X... If was Xbox scarlett the situation will be different.

The names ridiculous. They put so much unnecessary work on their marketing department and sales teams.

To be honest I was confusing about that, and this is a problem because im a passionate gamer... Now when the costumers are casual gamers. Its a big problem

You seriously think people are stupid enough to confuse a console that's released in 2020 with one released in 2017 and looks completely different?

Well WiiU say hello!
It's usually the brain dead consumers that can't tell the difference and lack the will to research the new console.
Yeah in part of lack of know even in the sellers

This is no fun. We should invite people from Macrumors to figure out all the hints Sony buried in this logo.

The WiiU looked almost exactly the same as the Wii.

You seriously think people will not be able to tell the difference between these consoles?

To be fair, they both share a similar design language and the new console doesn't immediately suggest a generational leap to the uninformed.

I actually feel funny even calling it a console - it looks so much like a PC. Perhaps "consolized PC" might be more accurate.

It's crazy how ppl kid themselves in thinking Microsoft gaming has this larger worldwide appeal. Microsoft could do things perfectly and the reality is Sony has a larger market and mind share tht isn't going anywhere. They will sell more.
