So, you'll be playing filler that you are not interested in then to justify the subscription.

Thanks for proving my point. ;)

Your proving your own point by showing your ignorance with that response.

I'm currently playing Nier Automata, Yakuza Like a Dragon, The latest Dragon Quest, Evil Within 2, and a ton of other excellent games. After that I plan on going through the Yakuza remastered collection. How are those filler precisely? Game Pass according to your own logic is a bunch of sub tier indy games. Which is blatantly wrong.

Your Sony fan boy drive by posts are getting boring now.

If that isnt a great, then i have a question about your taste.

A great game is the one that lets you do whatever you want to. And if starfield does that for me, that is the S tier game for me. Because i will have a batman game, until a batman game is made. If you dont see greatness in that, then i have nothing to say to you man.
Jesus Christ, I swear you have to be some 12 year old kid.

I don’t follow games as much as I do movies now a days but there are insiders posting rumors about Spider man sale if the SMU doesn’t do well (venom ame modok movies)

I hope not! I like their take on Venom, and don’t think Disney/Marvel would do it right.

Are you suggesting that online games have the same type and amount of storyline and well defined characters as single player games? That hiding and shooting in PUBG, that building a fort in fortnite or that another round of COD multiplayer has the same narrative weight and experience as a single player game?
You are only quoting those games, while ignoring all those solid online games. Please try to type better games next time.

Just like how there are great single player games, there is also great online games.

And just like how many shit online games, there is also shit single player games.

Both has their strengths and weaknesses.

So, old port, relatively new game, old port, old port. Then a bunch of more old games. I played almost all of those games many years ago, at least the ones I was interested in. It seems GamePass is only a deal for the lapsed gamer, while hardcore MS fans have to spend their time playing filler or old games. From your statement, the way to justify your subscription is through old games that debuted on PS many, many years ago.

How is that a good deal for you? It doesn't sound like you were looking forward to playing those games when all you list are old ports, sounds to me that you are just filling your time with those. Hence, filler content.

That I would have stuff to play and you wouldn’t?

I was pretty sure being a gamer meant I like playing games, but maybe in 2021 that’s not the case 🤷‍♂️

I am playing games, I am playing the PS5 version of Final Fantasy VII Remake, and after that Ratchet and Clank. I still need to finish Miles Morales. I don't understand the argument for a hardcore gamer that Gamepass is such a great deal when all you get is 2 or 3 AAA games a year, then a bunch of filler indies and old ports.

You are only quoting those games, while ignoring all those solid online games. Please try to type better games next time.

Fortnite, PUBG and COD aren't bad games, on the contrary, they have enormous userbases and millions of people playing because, I assume there is something very good about them. I was asking you about your point though, about how they were "the same thing", when the experience of an online game is about as different as it can be from a single player, narrative driven games. It sounds to me that you can't explain your point because it's nonsensical.

I would rather someone do it, instead of Sony.
Last spiderman sony did were garbage. The ones marvel did were great. Reimy made the character great in his movies, then they messed up spiderman 3.

The only great movie spiderman they did was in to the verse, and that wasn't even main spiderman movie, but miles. A support character.

While I don’t like how they turned spider man into mini iron man in the MCU, that venom movie was just embarrassing, and the next one looks worse.

Sony track record with spider man movies is iffy at best, without marvel/Disney to guide them can’t see it turning out well. The spider man animated movie was good (sequel in the works lost all talent that made the 1st) but amazing spider man was horrible. Who knows how bad the spin off will be.

I dont know why they say that. There are alot of genre games out there. Not everything you dont like is a filler. I might not like slime rancher, but someone out there is enjoying it.

Same as how I enjoyed Gemini heroes, while others have no clue what this game is.

PS now doesn't have more games than GamePass. Also worth nothing, you can download all GP games for better quality. Comparing PS Now to GP is not a road I'd go down.
PS Now has both more downloadable games on console than Game Pass, and more stremeable games than Game Pass on all platforms.

Also, your mentioning Forza, Halo, and Starfield, but there were many other Day 1 GP games shown, with gameplay, at E3.The narrative that Xbox only showed CG trailers has gotten way out of hand.
As I remember, all Microsoft Games Studios games announced at the conference were CG teasers with a single exception that shown gameplay: Forza Horizon.

And we still have to see gameplay of a single 2022 (including Starfield) or beyond MS exclusive.

Here is some gameplay they showed, aside from just Halo and Forza:

Psychonauts 2
Replaced
Somerville
and more.

As well as gameplay from a bunch of mutliplat games coming to the console, like Hades.
Psychonauts is multiplatform since day one (as many other ones shown there like Far Cry or Battlefield) and the other two -like many other ones shown there- are timed console exclusive indies, so a few months after launch all will be multiplatform.

I may be wrong, but as I remember all the gameplay we saw were from multiplatform games, Forza and MS games we already knew (Halo, Flight Sim, AoE). Outside Horizon, the other Microsoft Games Studios shown for the first time were shown via cg -some of them in theory running in-engine- teasers+logo (Starfield, Outer Worlds 2, etc), as back in the time many other ones were announced (Hellblade 2, Fable, etc).

End of the day, it's silly to call out GP if you are someone paying for PS Plus or now. You're already paying essentially the same fee but getting less. It's the unsung "gotcha!" to anyone dissing GP because they "like to own their games." They don't own those PS Plus or Now games they are paying for.
If we rule out free trials, 1€ promotions and so on both sides, in a cd key store you can get a year of PS Plus+Now for less money than you can get there a year of GP Ultimate. But in any case, if like me you buy many digital games every year, thanks to the extra discounts offered in GP and Plus the money saved with these discounts in a year is bigger than the yearly fee so basically you get them 'for free'.

In PS Now you have around 800-900 games stremeable on both console and PC (and somewhere in the near future on mobile), being over 400 of them downloadable on console. In Plus you get the monthly games and PS Plus Collection.

In GPU you have 381 (+79 from EA Play) downloadable console games and 270 (+54 from EA Play) downloadable PC games, being many of them counted twice because are available on both console and PC. It also includes xCloud with the (GP console?) games stremeable to PC, mobile and somewhere in the near future on consoles. With Gold or Ultimate you also get the monthly games.

On both cases all these games (excluding the ones you buy using discounts from these services) are 'rented', you have them available when subscribed. If your subscription ends and you don't renew you lose them until you subscribe again.

That is if you only count it for Microsoft games. There are other games in the service, which you could have enjoyed during those times.

For example, kingdom heart is a good series. To some, its not a must buy. But you see kingdom heart 3 on gamepass. Now you multiply it by 300. That is the minimum amount of games the gamepass.

From that, you have the freedom to pick any games you want, and play it for 3 years. In those 3 years, new titles come in and go.

Now to the Playstation side. You have bought 9 games, at the price of those 3 years, which you are keeping it. Now the question is, how many people do you think will go back, and replay it again, after their first gameplay?

9 games in 3 years is pretty low. Considering that is only 3 games per year. And you are stuck playing those 3 games a year, while the other person, went a head, and played a minimum of 3 games a month. 1 good, 2 might be meh. Total of 12 good games, 24 meh for that year.

As for the sales, Demon souls was 61$ last sale on May. It was released with console launch. 7 months of wait time, just for that price.

At the end of the day, 1 gets to keep 9 games for those 3 years, assuming he hasn't bought anything, and doesn't use the discount that much (Sony ps5 discount these days is bad). While the other person went game after game, during those years.

Now let's go back for kingdom heart 3 example. Used copy of that game is 10$ for ps4. Now you are playing 3 times of that game per month. Instead of spending 30$ buying those games, you can spend 25$ a month, testing them out. If you like it, you can buy at discount 20% is when it's leaving the service. So you are spending 8$ for the digital, instead of the cd. Now what happens if you dont like the game. You wasted 10$. You can return the cd, exchange it or sell it for lower price. Or you are stuck at digital, and you can't sell it back. Then, you are losing your money. That 25$ subscription saved you the hassle of wasting that 10$ to buy the game. You could have tried on the service, and jump to other games, if you don't like it.

For game ownership after the service is ending, you are getting xlive free games. They aren't high quality, but its enough to play games, until your next time you want to sub again. In those 3 years, you got 108 games. Some of them might be good. And some of them might be bad. But nevertheless, those are free games you got it for free with the 25$ service.

The only one who doesn't have value, is the one who wants to play new games only. While Microsoft is doing day1 games. Its not guaranteed that person is gonna enjoy it. So the service to him is useless, until they release their 1st party games.

After 3 years and 4 month with the sub, you have 120 games (3*40m) vs 9 games Sony only exclusive. The other games won't have the same quality as Sony games, but they have something to play in the mean time. This if we aren't counting 3rd party game sales, and only going on Sony exclusive vs gamepass only sub, who doesn't buy games.
But a huge majority of those other games could have been picked up on sale for $10-15 each, meaning you could have got way, way more than 9. The vast majority of Gamepass games are not new day 1 releases, they are older games that you can pick up on sale.

If you go the Gamepass route, you’re left with absolutely nothing to play the moment you decide to quit. Microsoft have you locked in as you lose your entire library after you quit. If you pick up games for $10-$30 each on sale over those 3 years, you can build up a nice library of games to keep, including multiplayer games. That was my point, you can’t just say Gamepass gives me X games but only costs Y day 1 game purchases, therefore better value, that’s an oversimplification.

My point was not to say that one model is better value than the other, just that you can’t use that equivalence of prices because they’re entirely different models. I do think GP is good value and I have 3 years stacked, however, I don’t think I’d pay 20-30 a month for it… tbh I’d have a hard time paying the full price of 15. Now, when the first party games start dropping much faster (5-6 per year), assuming they continue to also add good third party games on day 1 as well, then I might be convinced to keep it, but it’s 100% down to that first party quality, because I don’t care about 2-3 year old games on Gamepass and I don’t care about 95% of the indies, so there’s not enough for me unless Xbox Game Studios really step up to Sony’s first party level.

The thing you are missing, is that you aren't wasting your money buying games, that are 1 experience. Games that have no value replaying.

And on gamepass, you can buy those games. But you can't find it, unless you buy them, or try them with gamepass.

You also ignoring the value you are getting from those old games. How many old games are you likely to buy? Unless people talk about it, or go to sales, you wont be able to buy those games. You are getting to play those games, with other great selections like red dead 2 (it was on gamepass before).

If you are a gamer, your number 1 priority is playing games. You do that by buying it. Sales or no sales. Some games you are done with 1 gameplay, and you stop playing it again. Gamepass meets that criteria for gamers. They don't need to buy everything. They have selection of games, they haven't heard about. They try those games, and play it.

Plus gamepass titles gets updated every 2 weeks with new games that haven't been on the service. Like the entire yakuza series.

Actually one of the best things about what Game Pass offers is being able to go back to older games, some that I've always wanted to revisit, but now with FPS Boost making 30fps games now output at 60fps, with no patch from devs needed. It creates a transformational difference and as a hardcore gamer I'm really enjoying that benefit.

If I want brand new releases before they debut on GP, I'll buy them. However Yakuza Like A Dragon literally only came out less than a year ago and that's saved me money right off the bat with its GP release.

I don't consider what I'm playing as filler games, some of them I've never gotten around to playing before, new games are always coming into GP and more and more older games are now getting the auto HDR and 60FPS boost treatment.

PS5 fails to offer anything like that. Not in terms of backwards compat and nothing like GP. I had a PS5, I was fed up with their BS backwards compat attitude, PS Now and new games coming out for upwards of £70. I sold it for an XsX and I honestly couldn't be happier. Its an incredible system.

GP is amazing. Both in the back catalog it offers and it's backwards compat QoL improvements. Or I could throw that all away and buy one new game on PS5 and that's it.

That's how good it is now. The future looks even better.

I dont know how to translate this to usd.

That was their debt in 2017. Considering how hard it is to pay that much in 4 years, I will say their debt is quite alot.

That is nonsense....

Here are the correct figures;

7 billion longterm debt, that is it.

The site you linked to is in Yen..... 200 billion yen is equal to 1.81 billion dollars. That site doesn't say what type of debt they are talking about or give any details beyond saying 'debt'...... which is pretty useless.
It may mean they are lumping all liabilities into one figure, which would be utter nonsense.

Here is Microsofts longterm debt....

50 Billion dollars, down from 59 Billion last year.

Nurturing creative talent is not as simple as throwing money at it. You also must give them the freedom to be creative

This got a good laugh out of me. Same company regularly throwing money at exclusivity deals? Pressuring Japanese companies to adhere to western standards? (i.e, anime tiddy bad, decapitating realistic people good) Yeah okay Mr. Ryan.

Sorry, I will try better discussion. Let me dive deeper - you are either 12 years old, an AI pet project, or an outsourced astroturfing service.

Why even play Starfield if you are wanting to immediately change it? Furthermore, while we kind of know what the setting of the game is, we know nothing about the game itself. It could be an intergalactic mahjong game for all we know. And not only do you feel strongly that this is going to be the best game ever, you are convinced that playing intergalactic mahjong as Batman will make it even better.

Maybe you are an outsourced astroturfing service built on AI, made to emulate a 12 year old kid.

Mortal Kombat on Sega genesis is best game ever and you are dork if not think yes. You better discussing if not fanboy for the Nintendo sides.

Short answer what gamepass is, save money.

People who scream about old games, are the ones who scream about doing 60 fps for their games. Its easy to mock people who play old games.

And as for ff7R, he should ask, why Sony made that game timed exclusive to their system, considering they don't even own the franchise. And go mock other party, for not playing that game.

Like, enjoy your games, and stop shaming people for playing games. I own ff7R, but I won't touch it. I simply don't like it. I won't even bother buying new games. I am not wasting 60$-70$ of my money, to have a sub par experience. When I could just wait for 2-3 years, and buy the entire complete package for 20$ in spiderman case, or 12$ for watchdog 2 ultimate edition on ps4.

Exactly, and if I’m a gamer who wants to play games, I don’t want to wait 2-3 years for them to come to Gamepass, or even longer like with Yakuza. I want to play them day 1 or soon after, meaning, like I said in my first comment, the first party output of Microsoft will be make or break for Gamepass. “Real gamers” (since you seem intent on lecturing me on what gamers really want) aren’t that interested in 2-3 year old AAA games, which is when most third party titles end up there, as they’ve probably already played them. They want new games, so Xbox Game Studios absolutely has to deliver to make this service worthwhile when all the promotions on price dry up.

Its because the game allows me to do it. When a game supports a mod, it allows you to play however you want.

I am not playing the game as a princess or an edgy hero. Its ment to enjoy how ever you want to. Same as how skyrim was.

And dang for your last point. Chill out man. I own mortal combat X, but I deleted it soon. I dont like fighting games, despite having some in gamepass, virtua fighter from ps+, street fighter 5 on steam and mortal combat X on xbox.

Gaming is ment to be enjoyed. If you can't do that, then why even play games.

You aren't a real gamer, if you are waiting for new games only.

Real gamer is the one who enjoys all games, no matter how old they are.

Just say it, you don't like the current gamepass. And that is ok.

there are others who love it, because it gives them games they never got to play it. For the current value, its great for them.

I have an entire digital and physical library of PS4 games that work on PS5 and many of them have 60 FPS boosts on the new hardware. What does BC have to do with GamePass, btw?

Does it really save you that much money? You were not interested in it when it released, a year later I'm sure you could have found a copy much, much cheaper. The fact that you are playing it on GamePass just because it's there it means that it's filler content.

You are going on a tangent, we are talking about GamePass. PS5 offers BC for PS4 games and enhancements for many of those, so that statement is factually wrong. You also get a library of more than 20 games that were GOTY or candidates for it when you buy a PS5, so I'm not sure what attitude you are mentioning about BC.

Excuse me if I sound a bit skeptical that you sold your PS5, I don't mean this in a bad way, but you sound like a 15 year old kid that's really passionate for Xbox and is trying to justify why it's the best of the best. Xbox has good things, and also bad things. I simply don't agree that GamePass is a good value for hardcore gamers. Want to stick to that point?

That's how good it is now. The future looks even better.

I forgot to quote this. This kind of rings my astro turfer alarm in my head. ;)

You’re kind of silly…. I do enjoy games of all ages, but by the time 2-3 years have passed, I HAVE ALREADY PLAYED THE GAMES I AM INTERESTED IN. You are literally the person who said most games, you only play through them once and that’s it. It’s not rocket science, holy crap 😂

1) I'm 34
2) I was with Sony since the PS1 days, with a short period of having a 360 in its final year. PS3 was my main.
3) I had a PS5 day 1 from pre orders. PS4 generation was amazing. PS5 let me down

Why can't you accept that people are seeing the moves MS are making and what they are offering and choosing to go over to XB as they feel Sony are really letting themselves down this gen?

It sounds like your the child here, trying to twist people's words and context to fit your blatant PS fanboyism.

PS This this now the second time you've made assumptions about my gaming habits, considering you have no idea what I've played in the past, my interest in past releases on original release or wherever the fuck ever else, I suggest you stop.

In what way has the console let you down? Sure, things should improve in regards to PS3 and earlier BC, but the hardware is very solid with a very nice performance, great PS4 BC and the controller is adding innovation to controller feedback.

I also find that statement funny that the PS5 has let you down, when Sony has released Astro's Playroom, Miles Morales, Returnal, Sackboy, Ratchet and Clank, Demon's Souls in the first seven months of it existing, some of it actual next gen exclusives, while MS has released literally nothing.

Why exactly did you trade your PS5 for? Old games on GamePass? I find that extremely hard to believe.

what I find Ridiculous is how the same narrative of “we Xbox fans are better than the rest” comes up everything single generation

we have better online that’s why we pay for it

These people are so dumb. They think we don't see right through them. There is nothing to play on PS5 and all games are 70$ so they got a Xbox instead. To play what? Kingdom Hearts and Yakuza. All games you can get dirt cheap on PSN. Some of them even free giveaways and on PS Now.

Shills. All of them.

PS Now has both more downloadable games on console than Game Pass, and more stremeable games than Game Pass on all platforms.

As I remember, all Microsoft Games Studios games announced at the conference were CG teasers with a single exception that shown gameplay: Forza Horizon.

And we still have to see gameplay of a single 2022 (including Starfield) or beyond MS exclusive.

Not concerned whether GP games shown were all developed by Microsoft Studios. That’s moving the goal post. Also not concerned with whether they are only “launch exclusive”, because there is plenty of this going on with both Sony and Microsoft. For instance, Final Fantasy 16.

I think it’s laughable to bring up how PlayStation is a better value on CD-Keys, to be honest with you. . I mean we can play “bargain-bin hunter” all day, but it’s not relevant to what these companies are actually offering to the average consumer.

PS Now has more than I thought but you can’t download it all and there’s basically nothing exciting coming to it for the foreseeable future, unfortunately. Not on the scale Microsoft is providing with GP. It also sounds like you’re conflating PS Now and PS Plus in comparison to GP, but those are two different services that need to be paid for. Getting a deal for the both of them on Cd-keys is irrelevant. I can get GP for a couple dollars on Ebay, but it’s not worth mentioning.

Real gamers aren’t that interested in 2-3 year old AAA games, which is when most third party titles end up there, as they’ve probably already played them. They want new games, so Xbox Game Studios absolutely has to deliver to make this service worthwhile when all the promotions on price dry up.

Its you guys who kept saying that gamepass has old games, as if you guys are looking down on those game, like some elitist.

If you want to scream about better online, I suggest you see the pc games. Those have top notch, not consoles, and definelty not xbox who has it.

Gamepass is for those who like games, not whiners who scream about owning physical games, and scream anything about digital games or subscription based games.

You can go a head an list whatever crap you like.

And as for my statement, gamers are the ones who enjoys regardless what they are. anyone who looks down on other games, isnt a gamer. just some cult follower, who wants to feel better about himself.

who cares if they don’t like it!? Some people like owning physical games, others only playing new games…

why does talking about about a service makes you so angry? Nobody is taking the service away from you!

Probably quoting the wrong post of yours, but just to give my two cents on gamepass. I have been subscribing on and off since April 2017 when I bought my x1x. I have yet to finish a single game. I think the quality has been lacking. Note that i havent finished a single PS+ freebie either. I was hoping BF6 would be a day one gamepass title but i guess they cant afford it with just 23 million monthly subs. Maybe 50 so in that respect, I agree, the future is bright.

Especially considering the fact that Bethesda and ID tech games are gonna go on there next year. I will definitely sub for Forza Horizon and Halo this year, but I dont see any reason to continue subbing until starfield comes out in late 2022. I think if they want to be the Netflix of gaming they need to have those big AAA experiences way more than just once or twice a year. Which means spending on big AAA third party games. Outriders and MLB are good gets, but I am talking RE8, Cybperunk or BF6 quality titles. 23 million monthly subs mean $230 million in revenue. they should be able to buy those games for that much.

And just to bring it back to Sony. Sony has released TLOU2, GoT, Demon Souls, Miles, Returnal and Ratchet in the span of 1 year since June of last year. I bought all of those games. Thats $400 vs $120 they wouldve gotten from me if they had a PS Gamepass. Right now, this thing makes sense for MS who are only able to produce 1-2 big AAA games a year. Horizon and Halo are their big AAA games. If people give them $120 for a year for gamepass vs buying them at full price for $120, MS breaks even.

Sony has an EMPTY next 7-8 months but then a flood of titles with Horizon, GoW, MLB and GT7 in the first half of 2022. Once again, it's $280 vs $120. $350 if they included Deathloop. It just doesnt make any financial sense for them to do gamepass right now. especially considering they would have to start paying publishers millions every month just to fill in the lineup.

I was talking about Venom, not Spidey. Nevertheless:
“Last Spiderman Sony did were garbage, ones Marvel did were great” - What? All Spidey films are Sony: Maguire, Garfield, Holland. All of them. I assume the ones you like are Holland; if so, I agree that the Garfield movies are shit.
BTW it’s spelled Raimi. You’re welcome.

To me, people are different. now matter how you try, some people wont do what you do. they are different from you.

so if they dont like it, its ok.

its better to respect them. but when they look down on you what you like, that is when i get angry at them.

and i have to remember, some people just get too angry, and defensive about certain things. i faced those people in real life. and no matter how nice they are, if you touch that subject, you lash at you.

I mean the amazing spiderman. The rest was director vision, and less studio meddling, until spiderman 3.

Venom is cool though.

Embarrassing? While critics did not like it, audiences did, to the tune of $853 million box office against a $116 million budget. It was definitely flawed, but embarrassing? No.
Agree that Garfield Spidey was an abomination.

But somehow Gamepass doesn't generate revenue in millions on top of that?

It's funny how you can be so optimistic for some companies, and not with others.
Compared to the other console platform holders, Microsoft is a distant third.

If we only compare game subscriptions, Sony generates way more revenue than Microsoft (without needing to spend Billions to purchase content for it, so it must be way more profitable business for Sony).

Sony has an EMPTY next 7-8 months but then a flood of titles with Horizon, GoW, MLB and GT7 in the first half of 2022.
No, they don't have empty these 7-8 months. Sony released this month Ratched, FFVIIR Intergrade and Guilty Gear Strive and for these 7-8 moths they have Kena, Deathloop, Ghostwire Tokyo, Horizon, Forspoken, Uncharted 4 PC, some -pretty likely timed- console exclusive indies and who knows if Death Stranding Director's Cut. Plus marketing deals with games that pretty likely will be the best selling ones of the year like GTA V next gen, CoD and FIFA.

1st party games aren't the only ones who are very important and strategical for them. Example: since Sony part of their revenue, they want GTA/CoD/FIFA/etc to sell as much as possible on their console, and at the same time they want to make sure that PlayStation continues as the lead platform for these games because means more consoles sold directly and indirectly. So on top of helping them with marketing, they would prefer not to shadow them with 1st party releases. And at the same time, since they are huge sellers, don't want to compete with them releasing 1st party games at the same time and be shadowed by them.

Sure, the key ones may be 1st party, but these other games also play a role on Sony's strategy and marketing roadmap.

Good job with moving the goalposts. First these games are filler/poor. Now they are too old. What reason you'll have next? Do you realize many people don't play games just when they are new? On the contrary, many games get better after like a year. There's big community called patientgamers, many of them do it not just to save money, but to play best possible version of the games.

It's perfectly fine if gamepass curretly does not have game you'd like to play right now, or that you played all the games that you were interested in the first place. But that doesn't mean everyone had. You were constructing your argument on the fact that gamepass don't have quality content to offer to its subscribers, which is entirely false.

A.I are getting this advanced?

I remember messing with a chat bot a while ago but it's pretty obvious that it wasn't human.
Lol. Maybe it’s AI from the future. Fartynoob seems pretty convinced that every game Xbox that releases from here on out will be unadulterated perfection.
