Anyway, $399 for the base model is more than what I was expecting, but I guess that one might have more than 32 GB of internal storage and probably has the same screen as the upper model. Probably also comes with a dock. All that considered, $399 may not be too bad.



It's not gonna be like the Series X and S situation; the two models will be equivalent in performance. Just one will likely come with less internal storage and maybe some other accessory or non-essential feature missing (weaker WiFi, for example).

I'm curious if the base model sticks with $399 or comes in closer to $349, though. $299 is probably out of the question.



Nintendo makes too much money from physical sales to cut off a big portion of their audience with an all-digital base model. That'd necessitate more storage in said SKU, meaning regardless of price Nintendo's probably making less margins on it.

Not worth the tradeoff vs. having cartridge support on both, but cheapening out on storage capacity for the base model. That way the user either pays for more storage or spends more on carts. I'd imagine Nintendo also gets bulk pricing discounts for cart manufacture supplies, and you'd maximize those prices and supply volume advantages by having the largest addressable base for the carts. A digital-only base SKU nerfs that pretty hard.

Either way, my guess is $349.99. $400 is too much for a Nintendo console

I’ll be a tad disappointed if they don’t have BC with the Switch. Nintendo still sells the switch and not having that ability to use your content is sad if you ask me. I’m still using a launch Switch.

I don’t think they split their base like that. To me the existing blueprint for the Switch seems to be the logical path to follow.

1 SKU day one with dock.

Follow it up with a Lite version and Oled model. 3 SKUs. I think they keep the memory the same on all models (256gb).

The leaked specs from the shipping info are sound for this device. Good RAM, fast memory, the processor.

Nintendo can be dumb but i doubt theyre that dumb. A premium model would likely be $450-500 at most. And yes i would still buy it for that price, i bought the steam deck oled for around that price.

My thoughts exactly. I own maybe 6 exclusives on my ps5 but on switch i have 17 (not including the remasters like mk8:dx)

She's a non-gamer, so she doesn't care about games at all.

Already took enough persuading to get her excited about me buying her a Switch 2 as a bday present next year.

Tbh, I'm just trying to get her 'away' from the tv, so I can play on my OLED again instead of Portal all the time.
Might be able to persuade her with Mario Kart, so she can play it with our 1yo son in a year or 2-3. Lol

But I think she'd enjoy it and we can play together with our 2 older sons, like Fortnite with the 4 of us, occassionally.
But she does think a €500 Switch 2 is a bit too expensive, given that she's not a gamer.

*could buy her a cheaper Switch, ofcourse, but if I'm going to buy a Switch, it's going to be Switch 2.

She's not going to magically become a gamer and you're going to be cucked from your TV forever. That's the life you chose.

Save yourself and build a PC, seclude it from your family, assert dominance, and play games whenever you want.

Just give me a huge AAA dark fantasy styled Zelda game on the Switch 2 and I'm sold. I'll even buy it for that one game. There's bound to be other games I'll like eventually and Nintendo push their hardware to the limits for great games so I'll definitely be getting a lot of Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart level games.

Nah, we actually have 2 tv's in the same room, so I can play on my tv 100% of the time I want to.
I just prefer the cosiness of sitting on the couch together and I don't mind remote play. But it would be nice if sometimes I could play on the tv in the same scenario.

Yep. Honestly I'm constantly gobsmacked by how divorced from everyday economic reality a lot of the people making comment in the game space seem to be. Alleged professionals and media reps included.

The cost of basically everything has increased significantly over the past 5 years, and yet so many seem in denial of the prospect of gaming somehow not remaining magically immune to inflation.

Not to say that things coming out at unexpectedly reasonable price-points is inconceivable, simply that doing so right now is really is bucking the normal trend.

You have to be a special kind of stupid to believe this.
Also the dock is part of the switch they are not gonna sell that seperately and don't start with the lite cause that's not the main model.

The leaker didn't say that the base sku would be digital only, btw. That's the OP's personal speculation.

Yeah i just reread it should learn how to read right the first time.
It's maybe possible they release a version without a dock ( i really doubt it) but leaving out the cartridge is a no go
