Day 1. Can’t wait to see the launch lineup.
He got the Pro date very specific way back in May, so chances are he's legit in some capacity. Kinda crazy that the best leaks of the year have been coming from Discord chats .
Anyway, $399 for the base model is more than what I was expecting, but I guess that one might have more than 32 GB of internal storage and probably has the same screen as the upper model. Probably also comes with a dock. All that considered, $399 may not be too bad.
It's not gonna be like the Series X and S situation; the two models will be equivalent in performance. Just one will likely come with less internal storage and maybe some other accessory or non-essential feature missing (weaker WiFi, for example).
I'm curious if the base model sticks with $399 or comes in closer to $349, though. $299 is probably out of the question.
Nintendo makes too much money from physical sales to cut off a big portion of their audience with an all-digital base model. That'd necessitate more storage in said SKU, meaning regardless of price Nintendo's probably making less margins on it.
Not worth the tradeoff vs. having cartridge support on both, but cheapening out on storage capacity for the base model. That way the user either pays for more storage or spends more on carts. I'd imagine Nintendo also gets bulk pricing discounts for cart manufacture supplies, and you'd maximize those prices and supply volume advantages by having the largest addressable base for the carts. A digital-only base SKU nerfs that pretty hard.
60hz, without dock and without charging cableI would definitely go for an OLED screen.
LCD can suck my little weener.
I don’t think they split their base like that. To me the existing blueprint for the Switch seems to be the logical path to follow.$400 base sku and $550-$600 for the dock sku with additional features sounds about right in this economy.
mineSounds pretty reasonable and likely.
Is this your speculation or is this what the leaker actually said?
Even if it's 550 to 600 dollars?Day 1. Can’t wait to see the launch lineup.
That would be very on brand for NintendoImagine, if they offer two SKUs with no OLED!
Nintendo barely has internet. Nintendo will be the last company to do digital only.Hopefully base doesn’t mean a full digital system.
Hated on Xbox guy, Nick, rumored it's coming... for a price.
It just depends what kind of games she wants to play I guessAnd thus, they lost a sale. My gf thinks it's too pricey and would rather have a PS5 Digital for that price, because it offers more value.
Thanksmine
Nintendo can be dumb but i doubt theyre that dumb. A premium model would likely be $450-500 at most. And yes i would still buy it for that price, i bought the steam deck oled for around that price.Even if it's 550 to 600 dollars?
My thoughts exactly. I own maybe 6 exclusives on my ps5 but on switch i have 17 (not including the remasters like mk8:dx)It just depends what kind of games she wants to play I guess
Either way, my guess is $349.99. $400 is too much for a Nintendo console
Yep. Seems like the most likely scenario. Can't see Nintendo going above $499.99 for any of their SKUs. Most likely the base will be $399.99 and higher end SKU will be $449-499 USD.
She's a non-gamer, so she doesn't care about games at all.It just depends what kind of games she wants to play I guess
Lol probably not worth getting her a gaming device at all then. She's a non-gamer, so she doesn't care about games at all.
I'm mostly joking. I can play on my tv whenever.Lol probably not worth getting her a gaming device at all then.
Maybe ask her if you could play your PS5 a little more on your OLED, I'm sure she won't mind!
Seems like you wana buy one for yourself really and use it as an excuse to give her a "gift" knowing she won't use it lolI'm mostly joking. I can play on my tv whenever.
But I think she'd enjoy it and we can play together with our 2 older sons, like Fortnite with the 4 of us, occassionally.
But she does think a €500 Switch 2 is a bit too expensive, given that she's not a gamer.
*could buy her a cheaper Switch, ofcourse, but if I'm going to buy a Switch, it's going to be Switch 2.

Yeah, maybe. LolSeems like you wana buy one for yourself really and use it as an excuse to give her a "gift" knowing she won't use it lol
Nah, we actually have 2 tv's in the same room, so I can play on my tv 100% of the time I want to.She's not going to magically become a gamer and you're going to be cucked from your TV forever. That's the life you chose.
Save yourself and build a PC, seclude it from your family, assert dominance, and play games whenever you want.

Hmm, maybe get someone she'll really like, something that'll light her eyes up, is my recommendation!Yeah, maybe. Lol
She does like games like Fall Guys, Pinball FX and GT7 though.
And Mario Kart.
Wii U launched with 2 SKUsbullshit....Nintendo will never sold two versions of HW at launch
The leaker didn't say that the base sku would be digital only, btw. That's the OP's personal speculation.Yeah definitely not believing this.
Sony pulls a shitty move with their digital only and pricing and suddenly people have info that the next switch will release without cardridge slot.
You have to be a special kind of stupid to believe this.
Also the dock is part of the switch they are not gonna sell that seperately and don't start with the lite cause that's not the main model.
Yeah i just reread it should learn how to read right the first time. The leaker didn't say that the base sku would be digital only, btw. That's the OP's personal speculation.
Agreed, I don't think a no-cart sku aligns with Nintendo's philosophy or business interests.Yeah i just reread it should learn how to read right the first time.
It's maybe possible they release a version without a dock ( i really doubt it) but leasing out the cartridge is a no go
I'm with you. I never use Switch as handheld.I wished they'd release a SKU that's just a console that plugs into your TV with no screen or anything for cheaper.
They'll never do it but I'd buy that in a heartbeat.
wiiu never happenWii U launched with 2 SKUs
