It wouldn't even be so bad if not for that fact that all they have to show off this hardware with is a bunch of cross-gen games that also run competently on 2013 hardware. Oh, and they are also pretty much all on PC right now running at the same or better settings than what they showed off today running on pro hardware.

Who says it will run GTA6 at 60 fps? We do not know that yet.
CPU is the same as the base model. Obviously it's more powerful than the base version, but do not expect miracles from the pro.

I am not defending sony, its common sense. They have the data and they know people who spend a certain range in the ps store are mainly buying games digitally.
People who spend a lot of money want convenience and buying/using disc isn't convenient.
If you are buying a $700 console, most likely you don't care about saving a couple dollars buying or trading in a disc.

This is what I don't get. The more complex the scene for ray tracing, the more load on CPU. To keep the same CPU with a tiny overclock is already bottleneck galore. Forget complex scene path tracing on this thing.

Dude this is a premium product that isn't targeting the main stream audience. Its not the same thing as the base model. Plus you can buy the disc drive as an add on.
I just bought some blu-rays again since streaming is getting worse by the day, and my PS5 is my only blu-ray player. So the real price of the PS5P for me is $780 + tax.
Maybe $300 resale value on the PS5 Disc? After taxes and fees it's a >$500 upgrade. Tough pill to swallow without a system seller title.

When I bought my PS5 a couple of months ago I was toying with the idea of waiting for a Pro version but at 700 notes, I think I made the right call.
Definitely not interested in mind-gen upgrade, I did last time and in hindsight it was a waste of money.
I’ll save the cash for the next gen console shopping spree!

I don't think so? The difference in sales between the disk version of PS5 and the Digital one is huge. Unless you have something to counter this I don't think will be different on this case, even if the PS5 PRO is supposed to be a premium product people make absolute case of the disk, theres no denying.

Cerny says in the video that 3/4 choose performance... so they don't care about graphics above fps... so they aten't gonna spend 800€ to run games again in 60fps...

What exactly is the target audience again? Because all I can discern is that this is made for people who are willing to pay huge sums for "upgrades" that are completely arbitrary and limited, with some features even cut. This is nothing but a maneuver to boost stockholder esteem. This has no actual purpose for us. I'm going to be sad when this launches and mindless consumers buy this in the millions simply because it has the "Pro" tag on it, not even knowing what it is they're buying that's so Pro. This console generation has been a long joke.

I also believe Sony are testing the waters with this price point….. you’re talking people upgrading their iPhones every year or two for $900-1200+ , and PC’s close to what this can do probably run at 1k+ in cost….. so they wanted to close the gap a bit, steam decks are quiet expensive too, people expecting a $499 console are in over their heads imo.

Look in to getting a kaleidoscope player if it's available where you are, I hear great things about the system. It is expensive though.
If it were available where I live then I'd be all over it. But until then, purchased movies via the 4k Apple TV and blu rays are my only options.
