That first sentence could be applied to a lot of games. Take the parkour out of Titanfall and you got a standardized shooter. "Time is power". No wonder that Quantum Break relies on its time powers. That's the reason it is slightly different than other generic TPS where you just normally shoot stuff.

It's different in that it's no longer a cover shooter and instead encourages active movement. I think that makes for a very differently paced experience. It could be considered a gimmick but it helps remove the need to hunker down and slowly eliminate enemies. Instead it's all about zipping quickly around chaining kills together as smoothly as possible.

Playing as a cover shooter gets you killed quick. In a lot of engagements covers are easily broken by gunfire and there are enemies that can still damage you even if you duck, grenades are frequent, certain enemies can flank you with time powers, it simply doesn't work,
