Eid Mubarak everyone!

I had a surreal experience yesterday. My cousin implored that I sacrifice my precious sleep in favour of going out in a family mountaineering excursion. And to think I was so close to snoozing that experience away!

It was a breath of fresh air to have the wind breezing away at my face during the several hours car ride. I'm all too accustomed with this noisy and smoggy city. A lot of the lush forestry and dynamic weather lately left me reminiscing about Ireland. I was even greeted by a mini hailstorm along the way!

Not gonna lie, it felt great to escape my noisy neighbourhood:

Now with Ramadan done and over with, it's time to go at the gym with full power!

P.S. Artisan sends his regards to everyone. Eid Mubarak! Flourish and prosper with what ye have all attained during this month and use said accomplishments to grow even more in this ephemeral world.

P.S.s EffingVic, fancy hanging out with me, Artisan, and another gaffer in about two weeks, give or take?

Ma Salaam.

Out of all my family and extended Bengali family I've never had raisens in my biryani. This is a mystery I'm going to have to dig in further with my mum when she's awake again!

Also I put on like 2kgs between Saturday to today, I don't even know how that's possible :(

Man, consider yourself lucky. I think thats why I wasnt that fond of biryani growing up. I had to pick out and move so much stuff to the side I lost all motivation to eat. I'm also surprised you didn't grow up eating sweets like nearly after every meal. Maybe my family are just a bunch of weirdos lol.

I also put on a lot of weight these last few days. Binged on fried stuff and sweets. So satisfying but I hate myself now :(

raisins in Briyani ? WTF lol.

Sorry to anyone thats offended, the idea of sweet fruit inside my spicy Briyani doesn't sound right.

All this biryani talk had me hope it would be time to break fast, but then I realized it's not Ramadan anymore

Readjusting is always such an interesting feeling as I feel like I have to train myself to eat and drink water again

Anyways, my family went to St. Louis to celebrate Eid and stoped in Chicago on the way back. I always wonder how my life would have been if I grew up in cities where there were so many muslims haha

I thought you were cool 😥

Confession time: I don't like biryani and generally don't eat rice unless it is certain dishes, but I know what goes on the dishes that they're pretty common IMO :p

Now what y'all really need is dat glorious Er-see-ya

Rice made into a thick paste with lamb meat used for a delicious broth that just brings out that zingy flavour.

That reminds me of a Yemeni dish, aseed, but it's made with flour instead of rice.

So I asked my family and everyone was confused about raisins in biyani and thought it was a Pakistani or Afghani thing.

The mystery thickens.

Oh God raisins in biryani might be the desi version of pineapple pizza.

What have I done

You know not only does raisins not belong with rice it also doesn't belong with bombay mix either.

Chewing my sanachur and finding that one bloody raisin after I carefully filtered through it.

Raisins in rice are associated with Afghan dishes, specifically Kabuli Pulao.

I eat it quite often, and it tastes lovely; raisins in Biryani seems rather odd though, lol

Anyone else at the ISNA in Chicago?
What's happening at ISNA in Chicago?

I thought there was only one, and in Chicago?
Ideed, ISNA Canada (predominately based around the Greater Toronto Area) is mostly independent from the actual ISNA organization; they're only loosely affiliated.

Not sure as to how or why that happened
