Rumor Red Gaming Tech (RGT): The PS5 has a custom feature to be found in future RDNA 3 Cards.

What do you think? Is it true that the PS5 has a custom feature to be found in future RDNA 3 cards?

It normally is a tight nit group and you all appreciate how much it takes to create a video game, when I used to work for Sony and was embedded in the first party studios staff work extremely hard so when Indie Devs or small time devs who have not worked on a corporate level shit on people its extremely disappointing.
Sadly there have been a couple of indie devs doing this over the past few months, some of them are devs only in name because they've never even worked on a game and are only part owner of a "studio" with no active projects and to make things worse don't even have dev kits for either console. There was a pro xbox "indie dev" doing that on era and another who did have dev kits and is making a game but kept bashing the PS5 because the only engine he knows how to work with isn't fully functional with it yet.

Jeez, some of the crazies in here need to relax.

I believe it has long been established that the PS5 potential RDNA3 feature touted is most likely referring to GPU cache scrubbers. There may be more custom work involved that may be elaborated on but at the moment neither AMD nor Sony is particularly forthcoming. All we know is that AMD had a bit of a struggle implementing PS4(GCN) hardware compatibility in the CU's for Sony - who praised the efforts of AMD in this regard. How that effects things from a performance perspective we simply do not know at this time.

To those attempting to imply that XSX is off the shelf RDNA2 as some sort of negative. Hardware accelerated Direct X 12 Ultimate level features are a result of the joint R&D work conducted by Microsoft and AMD (Nvidia as well it must be said). These features exist because of Microsoft's wish for a common feature set used to port games between Xbox and PC. This is further illustrated in the shift from XDK to GDK which in future should allow games to be ported from PC to Xbox easier than ever (and the high level features in tact).

Further, it's reasonable to assume Sony would not have been able to utilise Microsoft R&D and as such have created their own solutions both in hardware and software i.e. tempest etc. We simply do not know all of the advanced features that are evident in hardware as Sony unlike Microsoft have not been forthcoming with the details.
This is another reasonable post.
Too bad, the crazies who keeps stirring are unstoppable, and is fair to say, are those fully in the Sony fence. :messenger_downcast_sweat:

Why would people want to set themselves up for such disappointment? If this were the case, Cerny would have mentioned it much like he told us about vega parts in the ps4 pro.

I personally dislike these kinds of threads, mainly because it's mostly a bunch of people shitting on someone that they don't at all. It's usually someone taking one story and calling bullshit on it without taking into account this person body of work. I'm not saying RedGamingTech is right now this point, his sources could be damn wrong.

I'm waiting till there are other sources, I never take just one sources for my news... that being said, I'm not going to shit on the guy for doing his job. Yea, what he does is a job. He's so far been a pretty honest and straight up guy. He seems to honestly do more source checking then some of the "real" journalist in the gaming industry. He states straight up in his videos that he checks the sources, double checks with others to a make sure. Then still gives the warning that they could be wrong still.

Edit: The only thing that makes me distrust me is that he's potentially a vampire.

Apparetly... he did. That's what people have been saying "If our partnership has been successful. You may see PS5 features in future GPU releases" Or some shit like that. What does that mean? Fuck, hell if I know. But, he's probably being purposely vague for AMD's sake? But, features could be anything. I/O features? It could be anything, it could be insignificant. My guess is we likely won't know, not even after the PS5 launches, especially if it's a feature to be included in AMD's new shit... no matter how small that feature is.

He did though, we know about Geometry Engine and its capabilities. Cerny also outlined the expectation that certain PS5 features worked on with AMD will likely make their way to future AMD cards

i think this *rumor* just shows evidence of the heavy duty customization and integration of the PS5 console, and how TFLOPS-while important to a certain degree, is getting less relevant as 'bits' and '# of polygons/sec' within the nuances and specificity of PS5. One component of its specificity is incorporating customization and integration of its geometry engine.

My impression is that you are just not comparing apples to apples between PS5 and XsX anymore. Its more like comparing an apple with a pear (no not oranges, because that emphasizes 2 completely different and separate things)

Same but different at same time.

Or maybe fuji apple vs granny smith apple?!

I'm in the maybe camp. I mean there's definitely a precedent for it. It's always hard to tell with these things.

I have heard pears make the best apple pies. LOL Buddy of mine swears a pear pie is on a whole different level vs apple pie.

I don't mind watching RGT but getting bored of all the I broke this and I was correct when I leaked this. I actually broke this as well.

I don't need to hear it every video. Sort your f@cking hair out and have a bath instead.

Ps5 will be 13tflops-FALSE.
Ps5 is RDNA2, Xbox RDNA 1.5-FALSE.
Ps5 will be £100 cheaper-FALSE.
XB has heating problems-FALSE.
XB only 500 backcompat-FALSE.
Looks like a new thing has emerged to be added to this list. The news from Ubisoft about some games not working on PS5 is most likely the first of more to come. So might as well throw this into my undisputed things that nobody has said sorry about spinning/fake news/lying about.

PS5 will be 99.9% BC-FALSE.

I agree.
I call people out on their lies or news spinning. I don't think people like that. They would prefer to live in a fantasy world and fake everything until people give in an believe them.

I'd rather honesty and integrity, and don't mind pointing out falsehoods in the process. So, yes. I'd most likely not be around for too long.

I don't know, seems really thin. If that's all of the evidence, I will continue to doubt. Sounds like twisted words which got a lot of Xbox fans embarrassed back before launch in 2013. I don't mean this in an accusatory way, but it just feels like cling hype for die hard Sony fans after a conference that disappointed a lot of people (blame fake Insiders).

That's the thing, it's all thin. It just comes down to who you believe. If you believe the tweet that was from Xbox that had the AMD logo. Then cool. If you believed the tweet from Lisa Su a few months ago saying the PS5 was RNDA2, then cool. It just depends who you believe. If you believe Mark Cerney is a liar, then that's fine. But you have to figure out where you're coming from. Why do you believe one person, one source over another. Honestly, people just need to be honest with themselves. Do I believe one over the other cause of "loyalty" because of "track record" that on you. People just need to be honest with where they're coming from. "Hey, I'm an Xbox/PS guy so I'll believe their word first" damn easy to say, just don't ask impartial, cause not a lot of people are, plain and simple.

Edit: I'm a Playstation guy, always have been. I believe people till they prove me wrong. Mark Cerney, believe him. Velocity Architecture, 100GB of virtual memory, I believe it... I haven't seen anything to disprove it! BC packs, sounds legit to me. SSD through put, sounds like a thing.

Maybe is custom upscaling tech...
Both will need it next gen, XSX WD is not 4k, its 1440p30.

Anyone who believs Ubi PR deserves to be let down

AMD leaked INFINITY CACHE since 2020-09-29
We knew the shared L1 patent, we also knew the trademark, nobody was saying this at an early stage except RGT said it would be 128 MB on die, its 120 mm2 and was outrageous.

The 128 MB was the leak, not the infinty cache (which we all knew about).

So I saw this rumor on a website that is totally not RedGamingTech, claiming the following:

- Big Navi's higher efficiency is related mostly to improved power-clock curves (i.e. clocks are much higher at ISO power), referring to the PS5 as base for GPU clocks.
- Power efficiency isn't +50% over NAVI10, it's +60%
- There's no HBM in any of the upcoming cards
- There's GDDR6 with a bus below 512bit
- There's 128MB of Infinity Cache to compensate for not having GDDR6X or HBM.
- They're considering not undercutting nvidia at similar performance levels (undecided)

Maybe, everyone copies everyone else, question is who is the source and how close are some tech tubers to each other ? And who coughed first ? I am not into twitter gossip so I dont know.

Yeah, that's the reason I question it. I've watched the guy (redtechgaming), who is making the claims, off and on for the past few months. He throws a lot at the wall for sure. I unsubscribed when I noticed he covers a lot of 4chan gossip and other sources of that nature. Also, generally speaking, the things he seems to get right are topics that other people are discussing as well. I question if he really has a "source" as I am not aware of any significant leaks he has produced in a vacuum, so to speak.

I could be wrong, and part of me hopes I am. I buy PlayStation consoles every gen. I also absolutely think it's possible that Sony may have picked up a new gpu feature or hardware that AMD are still developing, I just won't believe it until I hear from other sources. It's all good though, if I came in a little hot earlier it's because I had extremely spotty internet all day (I live in south MS, we got hit by a hurricane two days ago) and was just excited to get a glimpse at the convo before it cut off again. I kinda just threw my initial reaction out there without much thought.

This thread really is something.

After the tick tock 10 to go day of reckoning ended up being a full presentation of AMD fawning over Microsoft with just one passing mention of sony, the spec thread crazies have taken their damage control, spinning and shilling to a whole new level.
I suppose you and others scoffed at the thought of ps4 pro having rapid packed math from a future architecture at the time and laughed at the possibility?

There is precedent for taking a feature or its likely as cerny said, collaboration working on technologies.

Pro was polaris based but took rapid packed math from vega.

I'm staggered you can't comprehend the thought of them having worked on something. Then again not that staggered as you seemingly don't want to hear anything that doesn't fit your agenda. Were all crazies and shills for discussing it. RGT is a very fair guy, calls things on both sides and trys to get to the truth, with as much proof etc, doesn't surprise me you are against him, people with obvious agendas probably are.

The question is would you be more receptive if this was about Microsoft having worked on something, I think we know the answer...

Have you figured out how to work out a consoles volume yet? Remember, you cant calculate all shapes like they are a box 😆 Doh!

Phew, what a crazy thread. In two weeks, we are going to start playing nextgen. I’m going to miss this.

I just want to say a lot of ppl here have agendas. The amount of word twisting, spinning and diversion is stunning in this thread. But I suggest at least be straight and stand by one’s words. If it’s wrong, admit it. Be a brave human. Not a coward warrior. Win/lose here means nothing.

end of my rant.

All this talk of the super duper geometry engine.........that the Xbox series S/X also have lol. Incredible. The secret sauce of the PS5 that pushes it ahead is also in the Xbox lol.

The fanboy wars are getting ridiculous now. Just accept that the Xbox might be more powerful and move on. You’ll still get your precious Sony first party games and they’ll still look great.
