Earlier today we reported on a new achievement being added to REmake 2, which has been revealed to be a special tie-in with REmake 3 after it was updated into the Steam version of the game. Out of curiosity, I went and looked through the Xbox One achievements to see if it had been added there as well. Not only had it been — but it carries a massive clue as to what this achievement could actually relate to. You see, unlike Steam or PS4 (where the achievement is represented as a small square icon), Xbox One Achievements actually use full-sized, 1920×1080 wallpaper images, which you can actually set as your dashboard background. It’s pretty cool and makes earning achievements on Xbox One a little extra special. Thanks to this, we might actually have a HUGE revelation about what this achievement could be relating to.

That’s REmake 3‘s Jill Valentine talking to REmake 2‘s Robert Kendo. This isn’t something they just threw together either, this is a unique image that doesn’t match up with any cutscene in REmake 2. They are clearly standing out back of Kendo’s Gunshop, near his little man cave shed or whatever it is, but this specific angle on him doesn’t exist in REmake 2. It’s also noticeably not raining, something that never lets up in REmake 2. On top of that, the wounds on Kendo’s face appear much more recent and fresher than the scratches on his face in REmake 2 do. Unless this is a still from REmake 3 (which would be pretty cool if Jill ran into Kendo), this seems to suggest that the update will be way more than just dropping a document on her desk.

The Capgods continue delivering the goods.

This could lead to a really good moment if it's actually a cannon scene (unlike Ghost Survivors which is a 'what if?'). According to files in the original RE2 and RE3, Kendo is good friends with Barry and he supplies the guns for STARS, so Jill probably knows him.

I can only imagine they had quite a bit of consideration for RE3 When developing RE2. I would not be surprised if there are Easter Eggs littered through RE2 that nobody paid any attention to that will be paid off in this game.

Wonder if Geoff could drop this bomb on us tonight at the VGA?

“Yes it’s true I said there would be no RE3 trailer at the VGA but I didn’t say there wouldn’t be a surprise DLC that tied into it”

Considering that there were some criticisms of the Remake apparently not doing justice to the original's two-part system (?), and offering less content than expected, this could be a cool way to make up for it, a bit.

For me, this Remake was my first time playing through RE2, and amazing. More would be a dream come true.

I was actually thinking this too. The fact that he was so candid about RE3 not being announced probably means something is being announced at TGA. I expect a "out now"! Announcement from Capcom.

Apparently it’s just a letter left by Jill in the gun shop. You read the letter, you get the achievement. I guess we set ourselves up for disappointment 😂

You sure? Not up on mine.
My Xbox did a long update late last night so I fired up RE2 and the chasing Jill achievement is in the list now it's 44 achievements . I did you get the brad zombie to show in the og re2 maybe he has the Jill file.

Werid. I don't even have an update pending. Maybe it hasn't rolled out to my region yet.

Thanks for the info. I'll come back to the game in a bit.

Eh, I don't think it suggests major DLC. Its just a way to tease fans about RE3.

Jill will meet Kendo in REmake 3.

I had the same impression. There's no DLC coming. The RE2 dev team joined the RE3 dev team to work on 3 after launch. Nothing new was being worked on (well, other than RE3 lol).

It's just a note from Jill written to Kendo. :/
Yeah, all the hype was pretty unwarranted.
