Republican Wins Special Election that Media Played Up as a Preview of 2020

I like this preview.

Media will probably change course and try and paint this as not a big deal now.
So... does the MSM still think this was a referendum on Trump? Surely, they won't move the goalposts...
It's already happening. This was apparently only a bellwether if it went blue, because it's a historically right leaning district which Trump won. This is all they're focusing on now. Nothing to see here. Move along.

All of the polls, going all the way back to last year has consistently showed the Democrat winning this race. Democrats also outspent R's 3-1. And the media and their echo chambers again are buying into all the polls showing Trump getting destroyed by every democrat. They still haven't learned lmao...but that always makes the seething & saltmines that much better.

So here's the roundup and pay special attention to the vernacular;

CNN-"Republican Dan Bishop narrowly wins special election"

Washingtonexaminer-"Republican narrowly wins North Carolina special election after eve-of-poll Trump intervention"

NYPOST-"Trump-backed GOPer wins special election for North Carolina House seat"

SLATE-"Republicans Narrowly Win “Re-do” Special Election"

NBCNEWS-"Republican narrowly wins special election for North Carolina House seat"

The Republicans won two seats in North Carolina tonight! They also won the 3rd Congressional district, as well as the 9th.

In the 9th, they actually increased their margin of victory from the 2018 election, from a little over 900 votes, to a little over 4100 votes.

The Republicans just popped out of an in-and-out spitting barrel on a little red wave nugget at the Outer Banks! 😉🤙🏼

This guy was down 17% in the polls before the trump bump he got yesterday. If this is a preview buckle up.
The fucking polls lol. Being a pollster these days has to be worse than an air traffic controller. They’re probably popping Xanax and downing them with whiskey and chewing on 5 Rolaids at once to try and coat their burning ulcers lol.

Seriously pollsters have just literally taken it up the ass these last few years.

People are saying that Republicans should be worried about the results of this election because they carried it by a smaller percentage than in 2016. What they are omitting is the fact that the map was redrawn in 2017.

This was the district Trump carried by 12 points.

This is the district in 2018 that republicans won by like ~900 votes.

The District was redrawn to be favorable to Dems and they still lost. Not only did they lose in 2018, they just lost again by an even larger margin.

And they outspent Republicans 3 to 1 for this privilege. They should be very scared right now.

If it was redrawn to be favorable to Dems and it increases the Republican vote isn't that partly the point? Put more R votes in a historically red district and lessen the number of R votes in other areas.

Only if they thought that was what they were doing. If they thought they were adding more dems to a contested district, and their spending on the race kinda points to that, witht his as the result it would definitely be a backfire.

You guys hear that high-pitched squeaky noise in the distance? It's the Reeeeeesetra folks collectively losing all sense of bodily control and queefing in unison.

What do you have against Dan McCready that you'd say this is NC staying sane?

McCready was a captain in the marines serving abroad in Iraq. He ran on cutting taxes for the middle class, ending gerrymandering, renegotiating trade deals, and reducing military interventions overseas. He does not support taking guns away. He is in support of having physical barriers at the border.

What is insane about that?

He voiced support for sanctuary cities and amnesty for illegals.

He supported the Dream Act which has bipartisan support and isn't just willy nilly free amnesty for illegals. He approved of Gov. Cooper's veto on a law requiring sheriffs to have to hold inmates for up to 48 hours beyond the terms of their jail sentence if requested to do so by ICE, even though ICE detainment requests aren't warrants.

During a debate he was asked how he’d handle migrant families at the border, McCready stated: "We absolutely need a secure border. If some Democrats are saying we don’t need a secure border, that’s crazy. Now, I don’t think we need 3,000 miles of wall to do it. I think we can use the type of surveillance technology I used over in Iraq,".

I will start by saying, nobody knows how these districts will fair in a presidential election as they have not been tried in one yet. The District changes came after the 2016 election. With that in mind. . .

It really depends on if the district was a dumping ground for Republicans or not. If it was stacked heavier than what it was in 2016 I don't think democrats would have spent so much money on it.

It should be noted, NC03 was also won by a Republican with a margin slightly better than what Trump got in 2016 and that district has changed a little as well. If district 3 was stacked with Republicans then they are not turning on Trump and thus Democrats would be wasting money on a stacked NC09, or NC03 was made to be bluer and Democrats are flipping to red.

Looking at NC09 from 2018 to 2019 Democrats lost votes in this election.

If the moderate guy couldn't win, there is not a snowball's chance in hell for an open border, healthcare for illegals, kill all fossil fuels, gun grabbing, reparations advocating, crashing this train with no survivors insanity candidate . . . aka every Dem nominee at this point.

At least, that seems to be the case.

Real good stuff.
Lol @ the gerrymandering backfire. Whatever shit Democrats are screeching that the other party is doing is actually what they are doing with stunning accuracy.
Yup. "Accuse the other side of that which you are guilty." It muddles everything and puts the opponent on the defensive. Can't confirm who said it in the official sense, but I've seen it attributed to Alinsky, Goebbels, Marx, but who knows.

In similar fashion, these days it's like one can assume that if the msm maintains any narrative, it's either entirely or partially a lie, or at the least meant to obfuscate.

Nothing is insane about that.
Unfortunately, the DNC and its members do not agree with him. He would be considered a nazi in the current DNC political spectrum.

Certainly he is a bigot for wanting borders. Not to mention he wants to kill all children by not "buying back" and outlawing guns. Is not that the narrative?

This is your co-chair of the DNC

The problem with viewing candidates/elected officials purely on their promises during the campaign is that most politicians don't live by those words. There were Democrats that had no problem with giving Trump the billions he requested for the physical border barrier in 2018 and they were all forced to get in line by Pelosi, bringing about the unnecessary government shutdown at the start of the year.

Due to a mountain of legislation passed by Democrats over the last 20+ years and their current national platform, McCready knows and we all know that he is trying to sell us a bill of goods that he can't deliver on. The Democrats were successful in 2018 with candidates like McCready in light red and purple congressional districts, but people are starting to wise up to the scam.

And he would be wrong. We have seen this "technology" approach before and it does not work as effectively as a physical barrier.

The guy does sound halfway sane. However, in the real world he would have simply voted as Nancy Pelosi told him to. Thus, ramping up the crazy.

And trust me, Donna Brazile knows aaaaaaall about stealing elections. Why Fox even has that crooked liar on their channel is beyond me
cos when the leaks came out and it was revealed CNN was collaborating with the DNC, they fired her, then proceed to throw her under the bus by openly badmouthing her for harming the chances of Mother Hillary. Dems were doing a whole lot of casting out people in 2016. when she released her memoir it was revealed to how big an extent the DNC had fucked themselves and their voters. as an insider, she has first hand knowledge on the inner workings of political parties. since the liberal establishment has excommunicated her, Fox is there to step up, as it has with many people "too toxic" for CNN.

CNN and Fox and all those places tend to fire and rehire the same people all the time. the access media has a revolving door.

When the talking heads say they won by losing, it reminds me of every 10 year old who says they won the game but the ref cheated and let someone else win.

This kind of news helps Trump big time. Hyped up way too much by media hoping he'd lose, and now the suburbs are hearing that lots of their neighbors don't think he's that bad. Good vibes for someone whose next election will boil down to "huge tax increases, open borders, and identity politics", or someone who talks like an angry Thanksgiving uncle but hasn't actually done anything to negatively affect me, and even got me some extra money in my tax return."
