Resident Evil 6 Pre-Release Spoiler Thread | Unmarked Cacpcom Leak Spoilers

Dusk Golem

Hey everyone, this is Dusk Golem aka AestheticGamer. I have posted on NeoGAF since 2011, and have decided to resign. I have enjoyed posting about horror games here for years, but I no longer wish to support the site and will be leaving for good. I will still be around the internet, I go by AestheticGamer on YouTube, I make games on Steam as Yai Gameworks, and I plan to go by Dusk Golem on other forums. I'll be joining an off-set of the GAF community leaving to try other ventures like ResetEra (Official Twitter for that here: https://twitter.com/reseteraforum ). I hope some of you who read this may consider it, and I plan to try to expose more people to horror games in the years to come. Just not here.

I hope you all are having a good day, and know I always loved the community, and in the end it's the community I'm going to stick with, not the site itself. If you want to follow me, my official Twitter is here: https://twitter.com/AestheticGamer1

Does anyone want to know how to get the demo with DD? I know I couldn't find any good tutorials when I first tried. Wouldn't mind sharing.

Not gonna lie, full-length Ada campaign is a pretty cool feature. Hopefully the PC version won't have the technical issues playing up on the 360.

This thread is amazing. My hype has shot back up ever since I was reminded of the camera in the Microsoft Press Conference. Now all this stuff.

Them saying that each campaign is roughly 70-80% the length of RE5's campaign is even more awesome now that we know there's a fourth campaign. The initial playthrough of RE5 was a decent length. I'd say this game will be at least 20 hours first playthrough on normal. At least, that's what I'm hope'n for. 30 would be amazing, but only if things don't get stale during the game. RE4 the first time took me 20 hours and felt like it took forever but I loved it the entire way.

Really can't wait for the RE6 demo on PS3...dammit, Capcom...

Really awesome thread, it's sorta refreshing getting info and no bullshit in between.

I'm wondering if the game will jump between characters for each chapter or if you complete a character's arc and then it'll continue to the next character arc.

Vaguely remember hearing something about how you could play campaigns all the way through or you could jump around to the different ones at key points...can't remember where exactly.

Anyway, nice info. It's kinda funny how much data is left in demo files.

This is clearly RE's most ambitious title, yet. I'll likely buy it still even with the screen tearing if the content is good and meaty. Heh, meaty...

Thank you Dusk Golem for such an awesome thread. I like how you kept the not-so-spoilerific stuff at the top. You really thought this thread through.

I have to give them credit, they have a lot of variety. This game was developed somewhat similarly to Resident Evil Outbreak (coincidental since the game's director is the director of Outbreak as well). Outbreak had different teams make different scenarios for the characters, which is why a lot of the game's scenarios felt very different from each other. This is somewhat similar where the team was split up to tackle different campaigns (and likely areas of the game). I'm expecting the three campaigns to feel very different, and maybe even levels feel very different. This helps add a lot of variety to the game, from enemies to locations to all the change of pace in the gameplay. Hopefully it comes together for a fantastic product rather than all the sum of it's parts feeling incoherent.

Sounds cool to me. I played the demo at my friend's house (I prefer PS3 so I didn't have a choice really) and I liked that if you chose to play a support character you saw things from different angles. I liked Sherry's the most as when she grabs the rope you see Jake running towards you and jumping at you. Of course, I heard that there may be times where partners might get swapped and stuff. Maybe even temporarily split up. I think this'll increase the replayability even more so if there are quite a few instances like this.

Also, I gotta add that it's cool that you can change which side you aim from because they kinda forced it on you in RE5 with Sheva always being on the right side of the screen and Chris on the left. It did take a little getting used to coming off of RE4.

I hated the demo, but damn it if seeing those chapter and scenario outlines doesn't get me excited. It's so close to being the RE I really want.

Mmmm...I gotta admit, I think I agree with ya Rez. Seeing some of the stuff in this thread has given me a little glimmer of hope for the full game.

A lot of cool info came out fo the demo file.
Especially the option to change camera angles when aiming.
Great news since that was my biggest gripe with the demo especially on chris' sgement.

Though IMO I don't feel like anything here really spoils the expierence the game is going to offer.

Seems like a good bit of content, but it's the gameplay that has me worried. Forced walking, "cinematic gaming," the camera, pacing, and the gunplay specifically. I'm also wondering just how cohesive and polished the package will feel with 4 different campaign styles thrown in here.

Going to have to update the OP.

WORST CASE SCENARIO TIME

I really hate to be the bearer of bad news, but let's do this.

The person who leaked the texture images of all the stages in the first place (Mr. Nightmare) found a list for all planned upcoming DLC for the game. What does it include?

-No Hope (there is no clue in the demo files what this is, but it might be a campaign. The bright side is if it is, it doesn't have any data on the disk it seems and seems to be a future plan)
-Ada's Campaign (ohhhh boy)
-Slayers Mode (ohhh boy x2)
-Siege Mode (ohhhhh boy x3)
-Ustanak Mode (ohhhh boy x4)
-Last Stand Mode (ooohhh boy x5)
-Stages Pack A (this seems to be future additional stages for the Mercenaries and other modes not included on the disk)
-Stages Pack B (this seems to be future additional stages for the Mercenaries and other modes not included on the disk)
-Shop Pack A (no clue)
-Shop Pack B (no clue)
-Shop Pack C (no clue)
-Vs Pack 1 (this seems to be future additional stages for the Mercenaries and other modes not included on the disk, and they may plan more for the future)

I'm going to ask him if possible where the DLC info was stored as I haven't spotted it, though the fact Xbox Live Marketplace is an option on the main menu did worry me.

Now time for the rage.

ada's campaign especially being on the disc will be a big issue.
Especially after they were blasted by fans for SFxT.

Hopefully they aren't there in their entirety.

Blinded by the luminous glory that is David Bowie's physical manifestation.
Sherry coming back is surprising news. Too bad they'll hamfist her return and possibly kill her off just to have fans stop asking about her all in one game.

Ugh, terrible news about the Ada campaign, although I was kind of expecting the multiplayer stuff to be DLC. Maybe the SFxTekken backlash will make Capcom take note?

That stuff about RE5's scrapped content was really interesting by the way, I love stuff like that. Got a link to any more cut stuff?

At least that would be some sort of closure.
Capcom loves adding new characters for RE, yet they seem to forget about them as the games go on story wise.

Exactly what are
Barry
Rebecca
Carlos
Billy
Sheva
Jill
Claire
Josh
(Numerous Others)

They really need to just up and tell us what everyone is doing.

I think for the first time ever I'm not satisfied with a game release actually moving up, as opposed to getting delayed.

I wouldn't mind RE6 being bumped to the first quarter of 2013 if it meant they would fix the framerate and screen tearing issues and other technical stuff.

I doubt the game will be much different from the demo with only 2 months to go...

In the same boat about multiplayer stuff, especially since Slayers was DLC for RE5 and was returning. Kind of surprised to see all the modes outside of Mercenaries are, but it's not completely unexpected. Ada's campaign I seriously hope doesn't end up being DLC, no one likes story being taken out of the final product, especially since scenes that obviously come from her campaign play in the trailers. I'm also somewhat hoping he mistook a listing of modes to buy DLC for as opposed to that all being DLC (though some of it obviously is).

For Resident Evil 4.5 (Resident Evil 5's beta), I recommend you read these two articles:
http://www.relyonhorror.com/in-depth/resident-evil-5-beta-4-5-information-lost-scrapped-concepts/

http://www.relyonhorror.com/in-depth/resident-evil-5-beta-4-5-pt-2/

Thanks for that, was a really interesting read.

There even came an idea where they planned Chris to journey to Africa with Barry Burton instead and the two of them would save Jill!

The earlier mentioned barricaded areas could also house the merchant, in fact the very merchant from Resident Evil 4!

CAPCOM YOU BASTARDS.

Yeah, I find it funny how a lot of good sounding ideas get scrapped in the long-run for the series. Barry Burton was replaced as the story changed, and also Sheva was introduced due to all the racist controversy the game had before it released.

Again though, they seem to be pulling from some of their previous ideas as each title comes by.

Sheva was never introduced due to the racism "controversy". She was in the game from the beginning of its actual development. Barry was only in concept and was scrapped pretty quickly. None of the storyboards seen in the artbook were developed any further. They were drawn before the story was actually completed, and before the game began development.

It's true that they take scrapped ideas though, quite a lot. Grenades and armor were originally in 1.5 but were scrapped to maintain the "survival" aspect, but they were worked into BH4. The Ndipaya in BH5 were actually in the first version of BH4 which became Devil May Cry. Spencer was in every version of BH4 except the last one we got (but his original face became Saddler's) before being put into BH5. The "Hallucination BH4" version featured the Progenitor Virus and Spencer's castle, both were eventually put into BH5. There's a pretty long list.

At least that would be some sort of closure.

They really need to just up and tell us what everyone is doing.

Carlos will never appear in a main game again because he was initially written as a "gaiden" character, likewise with Nicholai. Jill already has been explained (she was chosen as a test subject for P30 specifically to see if it could cause damage to a subject's body over a long period of time, and she was left physically and mentally exhausted by the event's of BH5). Claire isn't much of a main character anymore. Billy, Barry and Rebecca aren't really that interesting, Barry should be in his 60s by now, Billy already received a send-off and is better not seen again and Rebecca is... Rebecca.

Rebecca wasn't given an epilogue in BH3 because the scenario for BH0 was not yet complete, at the time it was expected that that game would have explained what happened to her after the mansion incident. However, for some reason or other, they didn't do this, they kept it as a strict prequel. Claire was able to receive an epilogue because the scenario for CODE:Veronica was already finalized. It was a matter of Mr. Kawamura not being allowed to tread on the toes of FLAGSHIP, who were in charge of the series storyline at the time. It's assumed that Rebecca just bailed out. She never joined the other S.T.A.R.S. members and isn't mentioned anywhere after BH2 except for one file that states she survived.

Oh dear, Ada's campaign is going to be DLC?

I'll wait for a GoTY edition or buy RE6 when the DLC goes on sale, had just about enough of Capcom and their shitty DLC tactics.

This game will already be miles better than Resident Evil 5 on environments alone. Resident Evil 5 had the worst mid-game I've seen and played through in many years. Terrible terrible environments. Whoever though spending the majority of the game in tribal areas, marshlands and ruins was a good idea needs a might slap in the throat. Once you first get on that marshland boat, I fucking die inside. You don't get to experience anything remotely interesting or enjoyable until you reach the Progenitor flowers and beyond. Irrelevant if all these ancient areas were relevant to the story, they were extremely bad. Though Resident Evil 5's pacing was shit as it is.

Resident Evil 6 at least shakes it up with many dark and creepy night-time environments, city areas, and more interesting military-themed places to shootbang in. Though that's par for course in Resident Evil games and their final areas. The diversity in the places you visit really excites me. Shit, the fact that you get to play during the night-time for many environments is another one-up on Resident Evil 5. You only experience the darkness fully...well...never, aside from the tanker. Even then that never worked because the environment was a fricking tanker. Cutting out the village at night section seen in early RE5 trailers was criminal.

Seriously, proper excited for Resident Evil 6.
