Resident Evil 8 in early development and new RE game unnamed coming 2021

Captain Hero

The Spoiler Soldier
Twitter user (aka Dusk Golem ) on the (ResetEra forums) was one of the first people to leak accurate information about the RE3 remake, and now they’re saying Resident Evil 8 is “years away.” Apparently, there was a version of RE8 being developed by Capcom’s core RE team as early as 2016, but it was put on hold in order to focus on RE7 DLC and RE2, and has since been scrapped entirely. A new version of RE8 began development only six months ago. Unfortunately, there aren’t any other Resident Evil remakes in the works either.

Of course, as always, take these rumors with an appropriate amount of salt

Gay porn is where it's at.
There is a couple other Capcom games being rebooted in the same vein as RE2 & RE3 though in the RE Engine, which should be seen pretty soon

As far as leaks and rumors go this is something that sounds "disappointing" enough to believe it.
CAPCOM did really well on current gen with RE7, RE2 Remake, soon RE3 Remake, Devil May Cry V, Monster Hunter World.

I would be surprised if RE8 were to release next year or any other Resident Evil Remake. As far as the other Resident Evil game goes I could imagine some sort of Spin Off like Revelations or smaller game for Nintendo Switch maybe or even a mobile game no idea.

Other Remakes could be Dino Crisis (which seems somewhat likely).

Thanks for sharing. Extremely hyped for RE3 Remake it looks fantastic.

I just hope is as good as 7 was. And I also hope the end of it doesn't ruin the rest of the game by turning into fucking turd like 7 did. I loved 7, until the last 30 minutes of the game and it went from being an 8 to a 5.

And I'm hoping the unnamed game is a new version of resident evil code veronica.

Its only the start. They will eventually buy some big gaming companies such as EA, Ubi etc. This is a sound business decision as if their stadia fails gaming is a decent off shoot for Google.
And if you are pissed at Google, just wait till Amazon jump in.

I think they re going to remake Code Veronica first before heading to 8

Its much more difficult to make a brand new game then making a remake

Remake all the assets and concept are already there

8 they will have to start from zero

Will be ready in 2022/2023 ( i think)

Back in March of 2017, Yasuhiro Anpo (RE2Remake team director and RE Revelations 2 director) and Koushi Nakanishi (Resident Evil 7 and RE Revelations director), announced that Anpo-san had been working on a certain RE product, something that was "worthy of praise and mentioning". RE2Remake had already been announced back in August 2015, thus it couldn't have been that. You can/could easily exclude that from the equation. And in March 2016, Anpo and Hirabayashi were talking about RE2Remake's development proceeding smoothly on a youtube video.

Thus, what they meant was something else. People hypothesized that it might have been RE Revelations 3. Still no official word whatsoever about a potential Revelations 3 game.

So the "another RE game (neither Remake nor RE8) to be released next year" could fit the bill in this case?.....

Remember that back in December 2017 when Jawmuncher, a long-lasting champion/proponent of the Dino Crisis series, asked Capcom Development Division 1 about the possibility of seeing a new Dino Crisis anytime soon, they replied the following

Could these people be telling the truth when they came out and claimed the following?
Only time will tell....

I bet they realized nobody cares about mold, schoolgirl BOWs and just generally anything that doesn't involve zombies and are trying to steer RE8 back where it should be.
As for Dino Crisis, they should just reboot 1, 2 and especially 3, the original vision would be great.
Unnamed RE for next year, it could be some half-baked Outbreak 3 going through RE2 areas, RE3 areas and some new ones.
Revelations 3 makes no sense unless it's like RE2r and features popular returning characters.

RE8 scrapped after years of development and started over?

It's the Resident Evil curse! Thankfully, this has resulted in games like RE2 and RE4, so I just hope they make it the best it can be. I am hoping that it is more in line with RE7. With the REmakes of 2 and 3 giving me my fill of over-the-shoulder gameplay, and Revelations 3 most likely following that style as well, I'm hoping RE8 is first-person.

If the RE Engine is being used to reboot a franchise, it would seem that either Dino Crisis or Onimusha would benefit from it. I'm guessing the next RE game we get after R3make is Revelations 3, and I hope Sheva is playable.

Revelations 3.

Yeah, if they're taking a break from RE remakes to do other Capcom remakes, and since RE 8 is a separate title from this, that'd be my guess. I'm down for it, Revelations 1 was pretty good (Jill sections rocked, but wasn't a fan of the other characters' sections), and Revelations 2 was excellent (even better when I played with a friend, but switching the characters and the AI was good enough to have fun solo).

If i remember theyre still busy with another RE game besides RE3 Remake that look like a left4death clone

I wonder if Resident Evil 8 will be post Resident Evil 7. I want to see what happened to Jill, Chris, Leon, Claire, Sherry, and Jake after the events of RE6. What's the next biggest threat, or there isn't.

Never played Left4Dead, but if you're talking about RE Resistance (online game) that's a mode included with the RE 3 remake. It was initially looking to be a separate game, but when they announced RE3 they clarified that t's a package deal. My bad if you were talking about something else.

Even though DuskGolem is a trusted leaker among the RE community, take what he says with a grain of salt.

In December of 2018, the head of Capcom Development Division 1, Jun Takeuchi said that his division was working on another title that would surprise people.

Dusk Golem claimed that the surprise title was not RE related and that it would be unveiled the next year (namely the year 2019)

Well, the year 2019 came and went by and what did Capcom Development Division 1 announce as a surprise title?
They announced RE3 Remake, with its development being assisted by M-Two Inc. They announced a RE related game! Holy Toledo... What a twist/spin!....

Therefore, the Surprise Title that Jun Takeuchi meant, was in all likelihood RE3 Remake.

Now back to the present day, Dusk Golem continues the claims that Capcom is working on a couple of non-RE games that are being rebooted and empowered by RE Engine.
So take it with a grain of salt.

Resident Evil Revelations 3 is long overdue and it would make sense to see it before Resident Evil 8. I'm excited to see where they take the story next.

As great as Code: Veronica was, I really feel like they should take a break from Resident Evil remakes after Resident Evil 3. Definitely remake some other IPs like Dino Crisis, Onimusha, Mega Man Legends instead.

Hell yeah. Give me that Dino Crisis! Man, the first two games were awesome.

As for RE8, I really hope that they stick with the first person perspective. I've been playing the RE2 remake recently and yes, it's really good, but after a while I really was missing the first person view.

RE7 is easily one of my favorite games of this gen - hopefully 8 is as good

Please just soft reboot the franchise and ignore RE4 to RE7 and start a new timeline using the remakes to do this. Entire series lacks focus now Wesker is gone and RE4 was just another stepping stone leading to bigger things until Mikami bounced and RE5 ruined everything. Sure the story is dumb but at least it was leading to something.

classic RE development reboot cycle. generally this mean the new developing game will be a success, it happened with RE2 (re1.5), RE3 (re1.9) and RE4 (re3.5)

Rest

All these years later I still chuckle at what a fucking moron that guy is.
I'd love to see a Resident Evil 4 remake at some point down the line, but after 5 and 6 I don't now if they could pull it off. After 7 though, I'm interested in whatever they do in 8.

Now you know that is never going to happen.

That's disappointing. I thought we would be close to reveal, maybe even at E3. Judging be these rumors it sounds like the game is very far off, certainly a cross-gen title.

I'd be down with either choice for RE8, but if they go first person again I hope they continue with VR support. RE7 is still the best "real" game in VR, and I'd love to see that built on.
