Thanks for this, watching now.

I wish I could try the first game on a great Pc, all maxed out, I know I would love it.

Try it on 360 and there were many problems for me to fully enjoy the game. Maybe Risen 2 will be different but I'm not very positive.

My need for a great gaming Pc is increasing day after day...

I wish. I would need all Pc components, a case, a monitor and a keyboard at least. Impossible right now... =/

Never played the previous Gothics, only 4 and that's another one that should look great on Pc. And don't get me started on The Witcher 2 and Skyrim (and maybe even Venetica?). When I had my old Pc I played Oblivion and that was the the way to be played...! I miss so much my PC gaming days...

On topic:

I like how they put the islands in the game to make it feel easier to navigate and go through the game. Plus, you can always go back and new stuff like quests will appear so that's always good.

The King of Open World RPG's returns, Welcome.

Maybe this game will actually be optimized for PC's unlike another recent game.

Risen (PC) is one of the best WRPGs of the last 5 years and trumps games like Mass Effect, Oblivion, Two Worlds, Fallout 3 with ease IMO. Can't wait for the release.

Loved Risen so much, I can tell I really liked a game if the ending didn't make me hate the rest of it, cause Risen's ending was terrible, but it made me go, eh, at least the game was still good. When Fable 2 and 3 had god-awful endings, it ruined my entire experience with each game.

The original was €50 at release and I expect this one to fetch the same price... here's hoping for a loyalty offer from Steam fro those who own the original (very unlikely, I know).

For someone who does not have a powerful rig to display Risen 1, is the console vesrion good enough? I loved Gothic 1 and 2 and would love to play this one.

I dunno what rig you have but I've played Risen on an original Phenom quadcore 2.3 with a 9800GT and 2MB RAM(basically 5 year old tech) and it ran all high settings no problem. Just turn off Depth of Field because its just a piss filter really.

I played PC Risen with my E6600 2.4GHz/GeForce 8800 GTX/4GB and it run really smoothly at 1600x1200 on max settings with the higher quality .ini tweaks.

January episode of this series should be coming soon, I think.

In the meantime, here's a German video preview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNygAGZYdXI&hd=1

The jungle parts look really good.

3 months till launch!
That's a lot of pop-in. I hope that gets fixed before launch.
I wish they would show a bit more of the combat, it looked worse than the first game in this video. They player just kept mashing but he was clearly using godmode so maybe mashing isn't not possible in the full game.

So, Piranha Bytes are using motion capture for the first time. I see that they chose to use the same studio as Crytek for it: Metricminds. Should make for better animations.

They've also improved facial animations. Doesn't look that impressive, when compared to some other games, but I'm glad they made it more sophisticated.

Next up is an episode about music. FYI: Kai Rosenkranz, the Gothic 1-3 and Risen composer, is not working at PB anymore. He went on to set up his own company. I've read that the music of Risen 2 has been done by Bastian Seelbach and Tilman Sillescu. I'm having doubts but hopefully the score will at least reach some level of greatness that Kai's always did.

One of my most anticipated games this year.
They may have their flaws, but when it comes to open world design in a RPG environment Pirahna Bytes usually aren't second to none (well, except for Origin, but they are long gone).

There's something wrong with the shadow on the ground when it's near the end of the day cycle. There's a shadow of a palm tree there but the tree is nowhere to be found or the shadow is casted completely wrong.

That's at least 4 months old code, so... no point in mentioning, in my opinion.
