Rockstar hopes to deliver GTA V PC requirements in the coming week

“Dear friends at Rockstar, I would like to know what’s going on Grand Theft Auto V for PC…” – Alli (via Mouthoff)

Hi Alli, we’re presently in the final stages of development on the PC version of Grand Theft Auto V and hope to have confirmed official system requirements to share soon here at the Newswire, please stay tuned for that to be announced in the coming week. Thank you and we’re very excited to bring GTAV to the PC gaming community!

Exciting stuff.

On a side note, if Rockstar bring the next Red Dead game to PC, aren't they admitting they lied to PC gamers by doing so? Rockstar made claims that "PC isn't a viable platform for a game like RDR" and "The game was a nightmare to code for PS3 and 360, and would been worse for PC"

I'm paraphrasing of course with that last part, but, that's basically what was said without actually saying the words. The first part is a complete lie and an excuse to say "we're lazy" or "sorry guys, wasn't in the budget." PC gamers love open world games and are usually some of the most popular on the platform.

Who says they're bringing RDR to PC?

If it doesn't work everything on ultra and 60fps on my 8800gt and core2quad , i call unoptimized mess, and lazy devs

Wonder what fairy tale bullshit these will be. I still remember the Min/Rec specifications for GTA 4 on the PC. The game BARELY ran at double digit framerates on the lowest settings you could go if you met the "minimum" specification that was assuming you could get the game to even start.

No doubt people will counter with "but Max Payne 3" and I could equally say "but every bloody GTA since GTA 3 has been a shitty sloppy port on the PC" I get the feeling GTA 5 will continue this proud tradition of Rockstars.

It will be interesting to see if they put in some drm virus spyware again. I'm think they will use both Denuvo and rockstar socialist club, maybe a little securom and GFWL to round it out.

Well, it could be argued that, at the time of RDR release, the PC wasn't (to them) a viable platform but the market has changed since 2010.

As for GTA:V, I'm confident I'll be fine with specs as I'm getting a 970 (hopefully) in January and I have an i7. That said, the only thing I'm hoping for, is some official modding tools like the Creation Kit from Skyrim. Mods have existed before in GTA I know, but this would make it a little bit easier to be more creative with what can ba modded, plus ENB mods and model replacement/texture packs will be immensely popular regardless so that's something to look forward to.

Ah, nice that they share an ETA for this, so I can get enough popcorn ready for yet another thread with ppl bitching about completly meaningless lists of hardware components :p

I believe Denuvo themselves confirmed a while ago that GTA V isn't using it.

I think Max Payne 3 and GTA V's performance on the new consoles are probably better predictors of PC performance than GTA IV.

Well, they already coded this for next gen consoels. givent he similarties in architeture, I doubt it's going to be as bad as all that.

BTW: the CONSOLE verison of GTA IV didn't run all that well either and the LOD was pitiful compared ot PC even onmedium settings.

Now how excited are they really? Seems to me like they don't really care about PC but I'd love to be proven wrong.

As someone mentioned in another thread, you might argue they care more about PC considering they pushed the PC release to January to make sure they're delivering a quality experience. Time will tell if that too was bullshit and Rockstar really just wanted dem PS4 and Xbox One sales, well in advance.

Yea, either way I'm waiting to see how it goes.

Earn our trust.

Of course they can bring RDR on PC. It's a question of them thinking if it's financially viable.

It may not be in 2014. Many PC gamers who may have had some hype have likely forgotten completely. PCGaf would probably eat a game like RDR up, but that's the minority.

My point was more about the fact that it can be done. The supposed bullshit argument that they presented on the OP is not true if there's enough stacks of cash.

Looking forward to seeing how this does on my 970. The PS4 version looks pretty good. If I can get that at 60 fps with drops in the 50's I'd be pretty happy.

The PS4 version is fine but there is still too much aliasing anyone know which solution they are using? Something tells me that even a 970 won't be able to run the PS4 version at 60 fps and non post process AA.

Oh god that thread will be hilariously awful. Drive by posts left and right and people completely freaking out that it won't work on their machine.

I look forward to see if rockstar will top ubisoft or kojipro with their game on PC.

I run other games (farcry 4, alien isolation) just fine on my updated machine so I'll be upset if this is flawed for some reason. And if it is, hopefully the mod scene comes in and fixes it again!

Just don't lag when driving fast...

Please Rockstar.

Tell me you can do this.
You have the power of PC to accomplish it.

2560x1440
60fps
pretty settings

780ti
4770K@4.4

Or it's trash! Trash that I'd have waited years for, so it would be less of a pile.

Seems a little low on the recommended side to me. Would expect a bigger boost over the console specs for "coding to the metal" reasons at least. Still, if true, downsampling at 60fps here i come!

Those are a little lower than I was expecting. Looking at the graphics in screenshots (granted, those are PS4 screenshots), the game doesn't look that hardware intensive for anything modern and mid-range.

Newly installed R9 280x and upgraded X6 @ 4ghz is hoping to be enough, I'll be happy with just slightly better than PS4 level graphics and a solid unwavering locked 30fps. I really hope to god they put more optimisation into V than they did in IV, IV had terrible performance issues.

These specs make it sound like a last-gen port.
