Comon guys, this is definitely a cringeworthy hentai theme: Japanese tantacle porn shit.
This is by design.

I bet no one is desperate to see carlos swallowing this thing :messenger_grinning_sweat:
It's the same concept used in Alien for the facehuggers.
The concept of alien/zombie rape works great to make people at least uncomfortable.

Not sure if you're trolling.
Let's keep the RIOT discussion in the Valarant thread.

Why would I not assume that RPS is a solid side for gaming news after having been there several times over the last years? They always seemed to have good recommendations for indie games, a staff that played niche games as well and an appreciation for the medium as a whole.

You crack me up little buddy. Me, trolling. You're using the classic troll thing of walking into a hot topic feigning ignorance while quite clerly having a view. If you have actually been at RPS for years you will have noticed the constant injection of "men bad women good" "straight bad gay good" etc in every single god damn sentence on the site. They cannot get an article out without complaining that x is 'problematic'. They used to be great, but that was up til about 2013 - then they turned to shit. You're describing what they were, not what they are. They're as bad as Kotaku, Eurogamer and Polygon - an infection that sadly cannot be cleansed.

In the end, we see what we want to see.

If I want to see Nemesis as a walking stalker rape allegory, I'll see it. And no one will convince me otherwise.

Some will laugh at me, some will agree. And that's fine.

Trouble starts when I'll start yelling for games to be censored/boycotted and the like.

I found Quiet in MSGV cringeworthy as fuck, and made me realize Kojima is a proud creepy pervert. My opinion.

Did I demand the content to be cut? No.
Did I urge others to not buy the game and have Kojima fired? No.

What did I do?

I didn't buy the game. That's all.

Fucking mindblown, am I right?
You didn't buy one of the best games at the time from arguably the most revered series in gaming just because it had a semi naked girl?

Fucking THANK YOU.

Pardon their mention, but this is the quintessential thing authoritarian puritans like Resetera and their affiliates need to learn. Don't like it? Don't buy it. But don't try to ruin it for others who like it!

But… yeah. There were moments while playing when I just felt uncomfortable. Jill isn’t too obviously a vessel for anyone’s fetishes, but realistic as she is, she’s clearly designed to be sexy.

Notice, first off, notice the high-school quality of the prose. Then notice the number of implicit unsupported assumptions:

1. One's discomfort is sure evidence of problems in the world, not in oneself.
2. Fetishism is bad. Being a vessel for fetishism is likewise bad.
3. Sexiness is bad.

This is puritanism making a comeback.

And she spends an awful lot of time being hurled into things, slapped about, grunting in pain, being asphyxiated, and either struggling to force assailants off her, or being graphically murdered by them. There was one particularly rough bit where one of the previously mentioned spider monsters strangled her with tentacles, then rammed a bigger tentacle down her neck to pump her full of parasites. Watching back through my capture footage for screenshots, I could hear myself mutter “not cool, man” into my headset. And it doesn’t happen to Carlos.

The nature of the genre dictates a degree of graphical violence. If the RPS journalist isn't comfortable or that keen, then he might consider moving along and playing something he can stomach. The journalist disliking something is not good enough a reason for anyone to make concessions.

Imagine the kind of bland, boring and highly predictable story every writer out there would end up writing if they were to follow these strict symmetrical guidelines, that whatever horrors they'd force their female protags through, the males characters would also have to endure, and vice-versa.

The absurdity, the inanity of this suggestion cannot be overstated.

For some reason these people make me think of the Flanders kids on the Simpsons.

a cave outside of Whoville.
If the main character is a guy, the violence against him is ok but it's a sexist game because why doesn't it star a woman?

If the main character is a woman, she can't have a single flaw or be hurt by anything, because that's just fueling the violence against women fetish that evil men have! She also better not be attractive, because that's fueling the male gaze!

So every game should have a female main character that is overweight, unattractive, amazing at everything, and never gets hurt. And then we'll find some other reason why it's sexist.

On a serious note, whenever I read a piece like this, it's blatantly obvious that the author is projecting his own darkest neurosis and fears onto the subject. He is the one that must protect fair lady. He is the one that would show her his collection of manga and Mr Tingle cosplay outfits. He is the one that locks his desires away, and is well aware they are ready to burst out at any time and commit an atrocity upon a maiden. He's writing about himself, and has mistakenly published it to the world.

No, I didn't buy it because I don't like Kojima's pretentious storytelling. At all.

But then I got the game for free because of PS Plus.

Karma my ass.

Fuck that. I wont accept this stupidity anymore. i have enough of this overcritizing / overthinking buttload of bullshit.

Those people need to carry their neurotic, bored, mentally disturbed butts to therapy. Seriously. Stop trying to overanalayze everything...

Its like writing a book and someone starts to write a 10 pages analysis of it and explains what i was thinking... and all i was thinking "Thats great. That sounds good. I will do it like this but first of all i have to poop before i start writing"

Is this one of those propaganda websites now that make sure nobody is allowed to work there that doesnt fit their opinion?

Make a game with a woman attacked by zombies.

Protagonist have barely no tits and no ass, and wear a large uniform. Zombies has not to be black because is racist and reminds us colonialism. At the same time, not clearly white because a white man attacking you represent white oppression. More diversity needed regarding type of zombies, but not trans viewed as cannon fodder, so blu haired, pansexual, non exclusionary, not binary people will help you through the adventure. Not following their order or refusing to buy items from them will always result in some sort of malus or even a game over.
A zombie monster can attack the protagonist, but only before ask to her: if she don't want, he can't touch her, that is her no-no square. At some point you'll find a police station: you can save wounded police officers, but also kill them, and do that will give you a bonus.
You have to face the usual mega corporation, made by undefined bad nazi people. In the final stage, game require you to choose to nuke the city killing the few survivors to avoid the pandemic virus spread into the world or save the survivors, face to ultimate monster and try to kill it with all the risks if you fail. Both options are wrong, the right choice is not to choose, some other will probably save the world for you.

RPS and Kotaku will not praise (and buy) the game in any case.

Woman who fights beings that rely on physical force to kill their target has to exert herself and gets thrown around a lot when grabbed?

SHOCKING!

And that line about Nemesis having a hard-on for her? Totally misquoted, Brad says this line, word-for-word:

"But right now, it's got a hard-on for the only two S.T.A.R.S left in town - you AND me."

Implying it wants them BOTH dead! Jesus, and these people call themselves journalists!

This is so stupid.

So for ages people ask for more female representation that does not conform with the old tropes of weak women that need to be rescued by a man. You then get it in the form of games like Tomb Raider (reboot) and Resident Evil 3. Still, people complain because apparently the representation they are asking for does not include those characters to be able to do exactly the same as the male counterparts. I mean, how in the world do you escape from a city infested with zombies without getting thrown around and generally mistreated? I've never seen anyone saying that the way enemies treat Kratos, Nathan Drake or Hayabusa in an extremely violent matter...

Some of the stuff they tried to push at the beginning made some sense but time passes, things change and still people with that ideology complains. Makes me believe that the complaints that they had never had anything to do with media productions and their portrayal of the sexes and races. Instead, it was all about people thinking than an ideology equals a personality. Without complaining, they don't have anything to add to the medium and maybe even to society.

They had their chance. Many publishers were bent to their wishes and produced game respecting the rules that they provided. Those games weren't as successful as it was expected. Women didn't go out and purchased thousands of copies. Publishers are coming back to what we all know it's successful now, luckily.

So I'm sorry if the world didn't become a better place because publishers got afraid of showing tits on 3D models or if the next Uncharted's game is not led by a trans person. Develop your own games or just look for another hobby.

BTW I didn't read the article. Won't give them an ad impression that makes them think their article is good or interesting from any perspective.

I love the way there's always a "but" with these SJW things. Like, "It's really okay, but it's not really okay."

The Guardian newspaper did it when they published an article about the Fortnite world championship. They wrote a whole paragraph about the fairness of the competition and finished with a "but" that no woman still won.

The vast majority of gaming journalism is a bonafide joke these days always looking for any and everything to be offended about. It’s ok that enemies are chewing up and hurting Carlos, but Jill should be going through easy mode where the enemies are respecting and not touching Jill? Seems like they want equality only when it’s convenient.

It's comical that they managed to cherry pick this as a "problem". Imagine if the remake had you play as Carlos more than Jill, and thus have her get attacked less... Know what the "problem" would be? Minimizing the role of the female protagonist!!!111

"You guys are as bad as the woke people for bringing this up"

What? Edit: Or maybe you're being tongue and cheek.

The woke people complain about things that are not even a problem. They make things up to get angry about.

Us refusing to give into to their lunacy is based on the fact that these people have a much louder voice and have shown numerous time s that they can actually force changes on games - Re: Crash Team Racing - Resetera

Other

These people are insane.

The other flaws are some straight-up racist depictions. We’re in 2019, and we shouldn’t be accepting some incredibly vague appropriation of Polynesian culture with Aku Aku and Uka Uka, two mentor-figures that exclaim ‘Ooga booga’ (or words to that effect) when they’re summoned to protect you. Additionally, Papu Papu – a bumbling, overweight vaguely Aztec tribal leader who refers to himself in the third person and in broken English – can’t be a character that anybody was crossing their fingers and hoping to see. The depiction of both is vague enough to almost get a pass, but being vague in what you’re appropriating is not quite the same as just not doing it.

Personally i think Jill is a total badass for the amount of shit she goes through and still keeps going, she is surviving a zombie outbreak not popping to the shops. Maybe the RPS snowflake better stick to games like tetris where there isn't anything to get triggered by. In fact scratch that, if a long piece happens to slot in to make a tetris they would probably scream male oppression at how the long pieces are the only ones capable of making one lol.

Hasn't the past 10 years taught you this stupid mentality doesn't work?

I just dont understand how this crazy minority have so much influence.

I thought the mainstream audiences is where they money is at and these people are anything but. Why are they so eager to please them?

Oh sweet summer child. Take a seat and listen.

Everyone loves the tall skinny pieces in Tetris due to unrealistic body standards set forth by societies oppression of the patriarchy. The short fat blocky ones are just to be used as foundations, foundations that build the great society up on their backs.

Then the tall skinny ones come in and take all the credit for getting a Tetris. And don’t get me started on the marginalized Zir/Zhe shaped pieces that everyone discriminates against because they just don’t easily “fit in” to societies standards.

How these retards sound, actually.

Virtue signaling. Haven't the correct ideas, spouting the correct opinions, being offended at the right time by the right thing is what matters more than anything else, because the industry is a just a giant pile of cliques. Money is a secondary concern

If you want to anticipate what these people think, just look at their zip code.

So violence in games should only be against men, while women can only be violent towards male characters, joke of an article.
