Go Go Neo Rangers!
So let me put it this way; FFVII has a massive overworld when you think in terms of the variety of locations, enemies, encounters, and the various activities to do in each location. My assumption is that the reason they are doing this in 2 parts is so that they can actually bring all of that forward into this game.
That is insane. Witcher 3 and Spider-Man are both fantastic games and while I haven't played the new God of War, I have only heard praise. I don't think they would boast the amount of content an open world action RPG of FFVII would have though. At least not if it is all being brought forward. Even FFXV which was truly massive, did not sport all of the things you could do in terms of travel and activities that FFVII potentially will.
I think a better question to ask though is if there is anything that could justify this being a 2 parter to you. What would this remake have to be for you to find 2 parts being justifiable? IS there anything?
It's been awhile since I've played ff7 so it's hard to picture parts of it but I have played 8 and 9 more recently so I understand that the locations and variety in terms of pure numbers Trump's a lot of modern games. And bringing all of those forward takes a load of time a resources
But games like Witcher and Mass Effect did it all for the price of a traditional AAA game.
What I struggle with is that they already have the wiriting and locations etc blueprint done. Obviously it's not a 1:1 recreation due to the fact it's just a full 3d environment vs 2d nature but the fact they don't have to actually start from the ground should take a lot of the "guess work" out of it.
But to answer your question I don't think there is. This whole project just seems crazy mismanaged and the only way to get this out alive and not cancelled is to break it up into two parts so they can charge twice and recoup their money. Their mismanagement shouldn't hurt my wallet.
If it was something that was easier to swallow like 2 $40 parts I'd be more willing to jump on board. Or even if I bought part 1 I got part 2 for $20 for being an early adopter of part 1.
Again this is all rumor at this point so might be bitching about nothing but I'll just say if it is true it feels like mismanagement of giving this to s group of devs who clearly werent capable of providing the vision they wanted, annoucning the game when it was meerly and an idea and not even I'm production, to breaking into episodes all seem like things that could of been avoided.
