Rumor: Final Fantasy XV slated for June - by Amazon Japan.

Supposedly there is a prequel CG movie for XV focused on Regis (probably his time before he became king to his crowning imo) done by the co-director of FFVII Advent Children, Takeshi Nozue who is heavily involved with XV too.

The code named seems to be: "the Kings Glave"
http://www.vgtime.com/article/2055830.jhtml

It also says FFXV is planned for a summer/September 2016 release date.

This is still a rumor and even the poster who leaked this on twitter said take with a grain of salt so we will see in March

Wow, going the Persona 3 route I see; having movie(s) based on your game to push the brand.

Hopeful that the movie is a real thing and that it comes out before XV; could do a lot to help people get interested in the game and give us a taste on the core story elements of XV.

June 1? That's my birthday. It would be the perfect day for FFXV's release :)

That's great :D! My birthday is on June 1st as well buddy :).

It'd be really great if a game I wanted released on or around August 14th someday.

My birthday is a total dead zone for good entertainment. D:

Sales wise of course ffxv will beat persona 5, don't think anyone can dispute that
I'd be pleasantly surprised if June is real though

As has been said in this thread and I've guessed before, I'm guessing it's coming in September.

Then hopefully KH3 in the first half of 2017.

Will be surprised if it comes out in Summer, but will not complain at all if it does!

I live in Europe, so I don't have the XV-P5 dilemma because P5 will probably slide into 2017
2052
for these forsaken lands (I'll import the NA version, hopefully Winter next year)

But being totally honest, I'd still get XV over P5, we've been waiting.

PS4 is region-free so couldn't you just import Persona 5 from the United States of America: the land of the free?

True, but quite unfortunate, because P5 looks miles more interesting and deserving of sales than FFXV.

Not only is that a subjective statement, but unlike Persona 5, Final Fantasy XV has been played/seen in some shape or form of a significant manner. Saying Persona 5 deserves more sales at this point is nothing more than a fans hopes and dreams.

In fact, does it even matter? It's highly unlikely that Persona 5 will be out simultaneously worldwide, unlike Final Fantasy XV.

I hope XV is out by June.

Best wishes.

I could handle somewhere between June and September. Really though, I want the game to be great; if they need the extra time, I hope they delay it (still within 2016) to polish and fix bugs.

...but yeah, getting it next summer in a polished state would be AMAZING. The moment they announce the release date, I'm requesting time off work. :-)

Poor Ryohei, and IL

I still think it releases in early fall, but considering its 'playable' from start to finish now, I
could see a possible Summer release. But I think this is a placeholder... I've waited 10 years
I can wait another couple months.

Also obligatory first post, long time lurker first time posting. But I've been seeing some of
you guys in ffxv threads for years haha (m_night, falk, and the others) So I feel like we've
been riding this wave together haha! Please be kind.

The fact that Persona 5 is hitting in the summer after such a big delay was bad enough, but the possibility that it might be delayed further in Japan to make way for FF15?

Just wake me up when it launches...

One of the popular theories in this thread is that Persona 5 was aiming for a summer 2016 release in Japan and Fall for the west.

Let's pretend for a second FFXV indeed comes out in June smack dab in the middle of the summer season. Isn't there a very plausible scenario where Atlus can be more benefitted than damaged?

Think about it. The home console market isn't booming in Japan and historically FF opens up the path for other jrpgs to come. If I were Atlus in this hypothetical scenario I'd delay the Japanese launch, let Japan gobble FFXV while hopefully expanding that joke console market in the process and then release P5 simultaneously worldwide in the fall while riding the new found love for consoles FFXV hopefully would've sparked in Japan by then.

P5, in my opinion, has more to gain than loose in regards of FFXV launching in 2016.

Yes.

The PS3 version is probably fine whatever happens, but yeah the PS4 version would definitely benefit from FFXV expanding the user base. If they even released very close together it'd probably do them both some good, as buying a new system for two games is way more attractive than buying it for just one.

You had me until then. AC is one of the worst movies I ever watched and Regis looks like a fucking cool dude so I guess I'll pass.

Both FF and Persona (FF more so) need a massive PS4 install base jump in Japan.

From a sales standpoint it would be better for XV to release in September and at least 6 weeks post P5s release. I hope Atlus can confirm a June/July worldwide release relatively soon.

I speculate that XV will release alongside a PS4 pricecut, PS4 slim (that may be announced at E3 or Gamescom) and also have a LE PS4 bundle.

PS3 did all that with XIII and achieved hardware sales of around 250,000 just in the week of release. There were also massive bumps in the previous and following weeks as well.

With Dragon Quest XI PS4, I would expect will release in December, during the holiday season.

If I was Shu Yoshida (and its a blessing for you all that I'm not!), I would be asking for all heads of the major 3rd partys to come together around now, to strategize on how to best stimulate PS4 sales in Japan next year. Working together to not cannabalize each others labour of love and all committing to a release window now.

Feel free to tweet him this!

There still hope, Nojima isn't mentioned so there a chance the script isn't total trash

I agree with this.

1. The seller is a third party who's posted a listing on Amazon Japan, not Amazon themselves.
2. The edition being sold is European. Check the details section: PEGI: Unknown
3. As Kagari mentioned, June 1 is a Wednesday. Games are usually released in Japan on Thursdays, and mainline FFs have always been released on Thursdays.
Thanks for this perspective. This game will get me to buy a PlayStation but I want accurate news on when I should expect this.

Kagari hint - August/September/October

Square Enix hint - Possibly Summer, probably Fall.

You will find out for definite in March.
