I'd buy the remakes of all three PS2 games.

Aren't the current versions of GTAIII, Vice City and San Andreas based on the mobile ports? I remember Rockstar replacing older versions of the games on Steam with mobile versions that run using wrappers.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
A Remake would be required.
Graphically, gameplay, animations
Even Liberty City would need Remaking and expanded upon.

GTA 3 already had a remaster on PS4 alongside Vice City and San Andreas since many years.

Maybe it is for One / Switch. Or Australia where it is censored / unreleased.

Don't get high on hope. You may be disappointed.

the mobile ports had issues like crap frame rate and missing visual effects like heat haze. San Andreas on 360 also had digital input instead of analogue controls for driving. Plus Rockstar just lets songs go as licensing expires.

The ps4 versions are just the ps2 versions emulated in a higher resolution and trophies. They’ve removed songs too.

If they remaster it I wonder if we'll get actual planes/helicopters this time, or will we still get that dumb dodo plane.

I would take, and absolutely love, just a straight up graphical overhaul of 3. I'm sure things like newer car mechanics would make it's way in too. The small city has a ton of charm and is very smartly laid out. Has 2 of the best radio stations in any GTA game. Give me this now.

oh I would love a vice city remaster...I have some great memories of just riding around jamming out to that amazing soundtrack.

I still play Vice City once in a while, it’s still utterly brilliant. A remaster might be nice but the original is plenty good enough already, even after so long.

This would only work as a remake with GTA 5 gameplay. But they'd need to add a load of other stuff as well (namely rework the mission structure as well). It would be literally a GTA 5.1. I'm just not certain Rockstar would be interested in that.

It's like playing Crazy Taxi without the Offspring music. It's not the same.

Sega added it back in the mobile version. The ps3/360 version never got it but I just played the soundtrack from a usb drive while playing on console.

I had Vice City on mobile and it at least had a custom music station to add removed songs.

Is this really a real question?
Yes, it actually is. I frequently see EA deservedly mentioned as a company that is hard to trust, but I can't recall ever seeing Take 2 in that category.

So I'll ask again, what has Take 2 recently done that makes them hard to trust? Their last two big games are Borderlands 3 and Red Dead Redemption 2 and while not perfect I can't say that either game has created trust issues with the publisher.

A remaster in the Rage engine? If so, Sign me up! If it's a simple port with achievements support then I'll stick with the PS4 version.

For me it starts with GTA5 where expansion packs were promised for single player and then they cancelled all that and focused only on multiplayer. I guess I shouldn't be too annoyed about this as the single player was fully fleshed out and great but it still burns me.

Than you have the NBA 2K20 fiasco.

I'm just worried that they'll do something to try and make a quick buck somehow.

I don't recall expansion packs ever being promised. I certainly remember them being talked about and even I would have loved them. But being promised? I am not so sure.

As for NBA 2K20, I don't play sports games, but I can't in any way see how that is relevant to being concerned about GTA3 remaster. Pretty much every sports game these days has tons of microtransactions.

Like I said, if this were an EA thread, I get the apprehension. As EA is a company that seems to be run strictly by suits and pushes out games in which the focus seems to be on monetization and not on being a fun game. There are worrying signs that Bethesda is heading in this direction. But I haven't seen anything from Take 2 that has me worried as Borderlands 3, RDR2 and even their remasters have been pretty solid. In fact, I was very pleased that Take 2 allowed Gearbox to patch and offer free DLC for the Handsome Collection of Borderlands 2.

Back to EA, there is a reason I haven't bought an EA game in years as there games don't seem to offer a lot and just heavily push microtransactions. The new Star Wars game looks decent, but I'll wait for reviews.

If they were going to pump it up to GTAV level graphics then I'd be all for it but I can't see that happening so I'm not interested personally.

Only way I want a remake of any old gta game is if I can play it inside GTA 5 online where I’m sitting on my apt couch and hitting the bong.

That would be amazing.

ugh, too bad it's 3 and not San Andreas or Vice City.
3 is way too restrictive and limited.
This seems like a waste.... Unless they change that.

I'd certainly buy it, but I'm still waiting for a Vice City game really, remaster or otherwise.

How would they handle Claude? Faithful remaster and no voice actor or give him some lines and get someone to record them for the character?

Around the time the V came out, I recall them openly talking about future SP dlc/content. Later that got the silent treatment and I think denial at one point. Dataminers, and there's a very large community of people doing that for R* games, have said since that there was supposed to be a zombie dlc ala Undead Nightmare and a casino heist themed SP DLC for the game, which got canned an reused for Online over the years. Stuff leaked by dataminers for SP Casino dlc in 2015 showed up in Online dlc in 2017-18.

The dataminers put the blame solely on the success of GTAO, played a big part no doubt, though I think Leslie Benzies and the Houser's falling out and ensuing legal troubles played a big role in that too.
