I just spoke with a friend who works at GameStop. He said that two generic, placeholder SKUs have been added to the new hardware category this morning. He told me that corporate has informed stores to be open earlier than usual, Tuesday morning.

Again, this is just speculation. But it appears that GS is getting ready to start real pre-orders for the PS4 and/or Xbox One. No word on pricing. My guess, like past console reserves, the minimum down payment is $50.

I asked if he could send me pics. I'll see what I can do.

Lock if old or bullshit

Update 1:

He just texted now.

PS4 and Xbox One new title place holder SKUs have been added too. The respective category numbers are below

PS4 - 15

Xbox One - 21

Update 2:

New info

GamStop might be open late tonight, if not, they will open early tomorrow morning. No word yet on exact times.

So far, there are 15 Xbox One title, 16 PS4 titles and 2 generic accessories in their system.

Update 3:

Xbox One is available to pre order RIGHT NOW. $100 minimum deposit

Hoping amazon opens up preorders too. I'd rather get it delivered than going to GS (plus ill be at work tomorrow so I won't be able to go preorder early!)

For some reason I don't really trust GameStop for something like this. Seems like there'd be a greater risk to have your shit sold to someone else than at a big retailer like Target or something.

I'm sure some people have got some experience with this though. I did my preorders at Toys R Us last generation.

Wonder if they'll have any of the games available for pre-order as well? I'd imagine so, but sometimes it takes them a little bit longer to start a new section for games.

I can confirm that I just heard the same thing. Local Gamestop employee said they were asked to work extra hours this week and preorders will be available as early as tonight or tomorrow morning.

Recent console/handheld launches have seen pricing come later, closer to release. Maybe that trend will change again but I'm not expecting it to.

Good, gives me a chance to trade in all my Xbox 360 shit. Don't even care if I get crap all for it, I want all of this MS shit gone.

I can confirm that I just heard the same thing. Local Gamestop employee said they were asked to work extra hours this week and preorders will be available as early as tonight or tomorrow morning.

Their system doesn't update during the day though. Unless they're doing something extra special, we won't know for sure

No price at E3. If anyone does give a price though, I think it'll be Sony. And just Sony. Also heard that pre-orders are going up by tomorrow from a manager at Gamestop. But they really don't need a set price for the console to do that.

Why would you predict no price from Sony? They always announce at E3

Price today only if they are cheap (300-400).

If it's no price today... its time to worry/start saving.

Sony announced 599 at E3 along with the 250 for the PSP GO.

If one of the consoles is cheaper than the other, I think it would be a great idea for that company to announce the price at E3.

better chance of a date than price at this point. pricing is going to be a few months down the line and it'll be whoever blinks first.

Unless one has a megaton price point nothing will be said for pricing today. Like 349.99 for the PS4. Date I am certain we will see today.

Why not? Vita price was announced at E3 and it didn't come out until February.

Sony already knew the price of the competition at that time. I imagine both will still be gauging interest at this point for both products and announcing a price further down the line.

I do think that Sony is more likely to announce its price then Microsoft though.

I'm betting both Sony and MS will release pricing, when else can they do it?

Gamestop/EB always allowed you to preorder once a price was revealed, well it did for the Wii U.

He just texted now.

EDIT

PS4 - 15

Xbox One - 21

Again, these are GameStop's category numbers. This is legit

I asked the dude yesterday while I was picking up Animal Crossing and he said most likely preorders will be up tomorrow for the PS4, didn't ask for Xbox but assuming the same.

start making payments now and you'll be able to pick up more games come holidays i suppose

Yup, exactly what I am doing, just putting about $25 on the PS4 every other week until release. Granted most of my time will be on PS2 but some games wont hurt either lol

There's a new "Microsoft Live" category in the system.

System placeholder price $10k (actually not sure just for system, "all placeholder skus" are at $10k). $100 down to reserve a console, $5 for games. Generic SKU
