Abyss is a much higher priority but Xillia 1 is fairly good if not too remarkable so cool I guess.

I do love how it seems like they’re not including Xillia 2. Either they don’t want to bother with it, or my god, if they have the nerve to release it separately later, despite what a cheap cash grab it was in the first place (“yeah, we’ll just reuse 90% of the locations from the first game, I’m sure our players won’t notice!”

Abyss definitely needs a re-release. My PS2 copy works and the only other platform it was released on was 3DS, but I don't expect it would be a great experience. I have only played Symphonia, Abyss, and half of Vesperia but want to get back into the series. Is Xillia worth a shot? I have not really heard its praise when people speak of the series, at least nowhere near the same extent of the games I listed.

Abyss is my favorite Tales and also has my favorite cast. Love the story too. It's great all across the board for me. Would love a remaster someday

Nice, I'll buy this and actually play it this times on Xbox :)

I had both xilia titles for PS3 but never got round to unsealing them, I did play graces f though and really enjoyed that one, hopefully that comes in the future too :)

I wonder if this includes both xilia titles or just the first game...

Tales of Abyss one of the worst jrpgs i ever played, the cast is insufferable and the graphics hideous

If I had my wish, they' revisit Tales of Zestiria and remake it. With the new tech but the same world and art design. And obviously better pacing and without any of the story fuckups.

But that will never happen.

Although I like Xillia, I’m surprised they aren’t doing Graces F first. Either way, I preferred Eternal Sonata and would love to see that remastered as well!

If they make a double whammy with the sequel I'm in day one but if it's only Xillia I'll pass since I already own it for PS3.

I liked this one actually, I’ve only finished two Tales games (Symphonia and Xillia) so it must’ve done something right. Sequel was rubbish, but I’m surprised they aren’t bothering to include it.

Xillia 1 was great. First tales game I remember having two separate playable main characters with their own unique story beats.

Maxwell strikes me as proto-velvet, except she can taste more than blood and … appleboo.

Phantasy is still the best I’ll die on this hill.

Xillia 1 is fairly good but it is VERY safe in terms of characters and the story in terms of mixing things up from past Tales games.

The three you listed (Abyss, Vesperia, and Symphonia) I consider peak Tales, the only one I would add to their company is Berseria. It is a prequel to Zesteria, but by thousands and thousands of years and only a handful of moments and ideas in Berseria are enhanced by knowing Zesteria’s story. There are a few tried-and-true elements to the characters and story, but there are a lot of genuine surprises and interesting developments. Velvet‘s character arc is truly satisfying to go through, and the whole main cast all play off each other very well (the one “weak link“ was the character who is the youngest of the party, not bad or annoying but just kind of okay, but he does get a truly awesome moment in the third act of the story and ultimately justifies his place in the story).

Xillia was good and trimmed the fat. It wasn't bloated and too long, dungeons were over before they would get boring. You could fast travel almost immediately, i like it when RPG do this. Ok battle system too. Very safe but overall a fun romp.
