Rumour: 3D Resident Evil: Degeneration-Damnation-Downfall (3DS?)

I can't read Polish of course and this is probably a massive stretch, especially since it's from /vg/ and /v/. Anyway, it's spread all over the internets so I figured you can discuss it.

I quote.

On Digital Spy, there were reports about the alleged existence of "Resident Evil: Degeneration-Damnation-Downfall 3D". The title would appear at the end of this year and accordingly, it would contain Degeneration and Damnation in CG technology, and with the possibility of the Nintendo consoles you could see these two movies in 3D. Initial reports indicate that Downfall would be a new game that takes place between the events of Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6. The player would control Claire Redfield who would witness the "downfall" of humanity. The information was quickly removed from the website and Capcom has not confirmed anything yet. E3 takes place during June 5-7. If Downfall is real, it would probably be officially announced then.

I took a look around on Digital Spy and the website seems to be a very reliable source for new info pertaining to movies, games, etc. I've asked Alyson twice, Digital Spy once, and Capcom once (all over Twitter), and none of them have responded to me.

No clue whether this is true or not, but we need another Claire Redfield game.

EDIT: And if Jill isn't in RE6, then we need a Claire+Jill girl power RE to offset the brosplosion. :)

It could work. Tekken 3D Prime did the movie and game thing to some success.

I really doubt we'd see it this year though.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
After Revelations im all for a new 3DS Resident Evil.

Would be a really quick turn around on Resident Evil for 3DS but I think it'd be better positioned as a 2013 title seeing as Resident Evil 6 would take away it's thunder I'm sure.

5 RE games released in the same year?

RE:R
RE:ORC
RE6
RE Wii railshooter Collection HD for PS3

And now another 3DS game?

Seems a bit overkill

I could see something like this happening, but this year still? Considering that RE:R has just come out and RE 6 has a huge development team, who would be making this?

Not unprecedented. 2013 seems far more likely than 2012, and we're probably talking spring 2013 at the earliest.

Digital Spy knows nothing. It's notorious for taking reports from anywhere else and passing them off as their own.

If it was, in fact, a broken NDA, then I'd be happy. Ignore the crappy movies and enjoy a new slice of Revelaitons-style goodness.

Interesting, hope it's true just because Revelations was so awesome.

Kinda fits with the "3-D" too. and we haven't heard much about Damnation, so would be interesting if it pops by on 3DS too.

There's also the 'Retribution' movie this year, on September and RE6 was bumped from November to October.

Could be interesting. Certainly would be a middle finger of sorts to some companies. 3 Resident evil games on the 3DS within first 2 years while the PSP one never went beyond an E3 slide.

I feel it bad... I hope it won't be a rushed title, with less contents because of the movie. Tekken 3D got the same thing and had average scores, because it lacks modes like Arcade mode, or characters customisation.
So with 2 movies, I hope it won't be a short game with really low content (if this game exists of course)

If this is true I wonder what changes and improvements they will make from Revelations. RE:R is a good game but too much character swapping and the story is all over the place. I'd love a more focused story like RE4 with one main character the whole way through.

I say fake. Seeing how RE:R needed a 2GB cart (or was it 4GB?), I doubt they're going to squeeze 2 movies + a game there this time unless it's highly crippled (on rails shooter?) or just doesn't have the high budget Revelations had.

They could potentially use an 8GB card though with 2 movies they could potentially get away with a shorter game. Its all in the marketing

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

If it's just Claire as character, with just one story to follow, and not the several plots of Revelations, it could be even possible...maybe.

You know there are SD-Cards with up to 64GB, right? Size isn't the problem.

4GB. Even if you're wrong about the possibility to squeeze 2 movies + a game (worst case would be the movies take 1gb for both, letting 3gb for the game) you"re totally right about the budget. Those sorts of game (bundled with movies) I think are low budget.

If this is real I'd love for it to be a sequel to the wii light gun games. I imagine that style would work really well with the top screen for 3d and the touch screen for aiming and shooting with the stylus. It would probably be a smaller game file size wise and could fit with 2 movies on a 4 GB cart, and it could be a budget title!! Alright that's enough dreaming for me, this is probably fake.

So, $50/60€ MSRP? They're still expensive.

Therefore crippled compared to Revelations

As I already said, price is.

It would obviously not have the same budget as Revelations. Considering how long this game could have been in development that's pretty much impossible.

However, in Japan there's a history of Anime BR releases bundled together with a small new game of the franchise, so I don't think it's completely unlikely. If it happens though I'm sure that the game won't be longer than 2-3 hours.

Could it not be possible for them to include two cartridges? I know it sounds ridiculous but it's not too out of the question, right?

I mean, that if this is even real. What kind of name is that?

And how much do we want to overexpose the franchise before people get tired of it?

Not sure if this will be all that real to be honest. Still keen to see where Damnation is at development wise.

Well, development could have had started as soon as Mercenaries 3D shipped, as the engine is pretty much finished and working. At best it would have a year and a half of dev time, and at worst just a year (which is really not bad for a portable game) if it ships fall/winter and was made by the RE:R team. I'm more concerned about the amount of content than the overall quality though.

I though the Mercenaries 3D team has joined RE:R team
But as you said, the overall quality shouldn't be a problem (if we speak about technics).
But the content would be pretty short I think, especially shipped with 2 movies, it should be a "fan-service" game.

I would think being capcom, would make mercenaries 2
6 new stages, a few new suits, 1million+ sales for 6months of work

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
Revelations was excellent, but a large project, and only came out this year. I don't recall it setting the charts on fire either. Not sure if Capcom would invest so quickly in another Resident Evil 3DS project, and if they did, I wouldn't be surprised if the two movies indicated a small game.

Seems logical. A smaller budget game, likely reusing assets from RE:R and RE:M3D, makes a lot of sense after lukewarm sales to RE:R.

Worst name ever. But Revelations was pretty cool, so I'd welcome this. That is a lot of RE in a 12 month period though. Capcom clearly isn't worried about brand fatigue.

They did say that after the success of Revelations and Mercenaries they were open to more Resident Evil on 3DS. And after how good Revelations was, so am I.

I like the whole "pack in a 3D movie" thing too.

a game that covers degeneration and damnation as well as a section that leads to re6 sou ds more likely than including both films and a full game.
