Ueda still has his reunion with SCE guys recently. He hasn't left on bad terms or something. This E3, if TLG is revealed, I expect Ueda to come on stage and announce it. It will be either Ueda or Allan Becker, who will announce it. Ueda will have the maximum impact though just like Nomura was there for FFXV/KH3.

Your post implied his vision would no longer be behind it. That would mean them stripping out all prior work/writing/storyboards etc.

If you mean, he is no longer actively working on it (which I think your current replies have cleared up), then I can't argue with that. No one knows. But at this point even if he's not come back and his work has been done for a long time, that doesn't mean it's not his vision.
I'm not implying all of his previous creative input was removed, obviously some of it would remain, but rather that the current iteration of the project is no longer being guided by him personally And I'm sorry, but I believe that's a valid concern.

I'm also not saying he's not currently doing any work on it either. Last we heard he still was, though he's also working on some of his own projects, none of which have yet been announced.

Well as long as it's the obvious work force itself and not Cerny directing that work force. Knack was a piece of shit and made me question how much influence he really had on the quality of the previous games that people like to point out that he worked on.

His evidence is an unsourced Ueda quote in a corrected gamespot article on the supposed cancellation of The Last Guardian. A quite that I can find no mention of anywhere else except for in reference to that specific gamespot article on other sites.
The original source was Edge Online, but the link is now dead and it redirects to Games Radar.

Here's another link that outlines the quotes Ueda gave to Edge

The quote came straight out of Ueda's mouth.

In the case of The Last Guardian, my creative work was mostly finished a long time ago, but the details of when, where and how it will be completed are beyond my control."

Yeah, I doubt this game is releasing without Ueda's public stamp of approval. People should remember that his involvement in the styling and direction of the game began a very, very long time ago and it is more than likely the shift into full development on PS4 that has taken time and attention rather than any need to redo his visions and designs.

The way the podcast persented all this was odd. They just said the team that worked with the guy that is not Mark Cerny, but is totally Mark Cerny, is helping to finish up TLG.

Odd thing, the team that made Knack are the TLG team. So it makes sense they would leave Knack and shift back to TLG. The podcast people were weird how they went about talking about it. They even refused to say Cerny by name. I just wonder why even use Cerny as a point of reference, if they WERE the TLG team.

So it's just weird the way they even approached the subject. They never mentioned Cerny leading, so bringing him up made no sense. They were trying to find a clever round about way to say which team was working on TLG.

I wonder if Cerny is even working on any game at this point. Doubt many care, given people think Knack was the worst thing ever.

posting my post from the other thread:

2013:

2014:

on the cancellation rumor:

and then soon after:

Layden: "The Last Guardian is still in production, it’s still in development, the teams are still working at it, and I look forward to, on an occasion in the future, Geoff, when I can talk more about what that progress looks like, and what that route to market is going to look like, but the game is still being worked on, so the rumours you heard are completely false."

2015:

On March 12, 2015, Sony files third trademark application for "The Last Guardian"

Gaf verified insiders and mods talk about rumblings of it showing up. The Mark Cerny "team" rumor appears, which is just TEAM ICO in the first place anyways.

This might help:

To be clear, Cerny team = Studio Japan Devs and the same team that was already working on TLG, but left to help on Knack. They are all from the same studio. Instead of saying Cernys team, it's really: TLG devs moved back to finishing TLG after finishing Knack (since there is so much confusion on this)

Ok, thanks for clearing that up. I feel better about it now.

Read this thread so you understand why this is perfectly fine and would have happened regardless. READ

Naw, don't need to now that you guys cleared it up. Thanks.

^^^

Posted that in another thread. Unless you are saying that, you don't know how to feel about it being finished up. If so, my bad.

I just assumed people knew it was being worked on, as Sony said last year they weren't letting it go.

No, you were right in your assumption. I want it to be finished up, I just want the right team on the job.

As I said in the E3 thread, happy to see Knack team continuing making great game.

Still don't get the complaints wkth the game and I'm confident that most people did not evwn played the game to form an actual opinion on it.

Obviously super trustworthy.

Yeah I'd noticed that source. Thing is, it could be true. Saying his creative contributions are complete is actually a good thing. It means he has done whatever his role was in the project and the rest is up to the tech/engineering teams. I'm confused that someone would interpret that as "his vision is no longer behind the making of the game". It's still his game.

But the rumor isn't Mark Cerny. It's that the team that worked with Cerny on Knack is finishing it up. But that makes sense, because members of the TLG team stopped working on TLG, worked on Knack, then when it ended...would shift back to TLG.

So TLG team works finishing up TLG.

I guess your prediction would have always been kind of right lol

Knack team? lol. That's hardly a vote of confidence.

I've been waiting for this game since the day I finished ICO, don't let me down Sony.

See above.

Really? After all of the sources I've given I've been upgraded to "Oh well, it could be true I guess, but HEY THAT DOESN'T MEAN..."

You folks keep moving them goalposts. I'm sure you're right - all of the creative vision has already been realized. TLG has simply been in development hell because the game takes a long time to code. Alrighty then. I'm done arguing with you people, your heads are in the clouds.

If TLG is the same level of quality as Knack I'm going to cry hard... :'(

I don't really believe this but it's not good news for me.

What's next? Naughty Dog joins in too? And Insomniac and Guerrilla get called to action to finish the game?

Where's that Sony Avengers gif when you need it...

edit: found!

There was that funny rumour about Santa Monica Studio helping with TLG actually.

There aren't really teams in Japan Studio. Of course people from Knack will work on other stuff there, including TLG (if it's in development). SotC artists worked on Knack too.
