Ryse: Son of Rome - Pax Prime 2013 Gladiator Mode Gameplay

Looks incredibly simplistic and rather boring.

The same block slash combo over and over... and so little reaction from the guys you are killing... literally standing there waiting for him to finish his combo and kick him to death at one point.

Even then,. ppl are saying this game looks crazy good but that video is missing simple things like the reflection on the shoulder pads that we see in PR shots.

Hate to be a dick... but the game is using pretty great tech for its indirect reflections (SSR, Cubemaps, and GI specular).

That is actually a rather accurate as to how it would look (that is in shadows)... not the overly cubemapped/specular driven surfaces people are used to.

BUt I agree, the gameplay looks like crap.
 
I have to say that Crytek never looked at how Chivalry or Mount & Blade since that is proper combat. It just looks so dull and boring. Sure looks nice but that is everything being said about it.
 
What's with the perma lag fest animations?

Someone explained it to me earlier...the characters go into slow motion for a zoomed in close up for a cinematic kill. But the fighting around the two characters continue at normal speed. So you'll see some bodies hovering above you in slow motion while you walk at a normal speed.
 
looks pretty buggy/unfinished to me:
-some enemies dont react
-the water looks awful
-he has to approch multiple time to destroy those cauldrons

given that it should be out in november i dont know what to expect from the release version
 
This game looks like utter crap.

The combat looks shallow, bland and generic.

To be fair, you can't expect Devil May Cry levels of deepness, but this looks like something for a kid,

OH and WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH THE A BUTTON FLASHING THROUGH THE ENTIRE VID?

Seriously, that is annoying as hell. The enemy A.I. and friendly AI looks poor too. Plus, they keep using the same moves over and over.

Apparently games everywhere look rough; Ryse (Xbone), Battlefield 4 (PC), and Killzone (PS4).
These builds are probably pretty old.
 
They should have kept this as an Kinect only title. You can clearly see the problems of trying to force this game into the launch titles when they had to make massive changes to the game.
 
Off-screen footage is doing this game no favors. The resolution, textures and small details are lost, leaving only the character animation to judge - and boy, is it stiff and clunky. This aspect looks like a middling current gen effort.
 

Why are you loling. It does look awful. You think because an enemy can repeatedly side step a guy slashing directly at him over and over the AI is good? Generic iPhone games have stuff like that. Why can't the guy parry a slash and counter it instead of side dashing over and over stupidly? I don't see any flanking, re grouping, retreating in low health, good use of shield, cover or defence mechanisms, consistent clever counters etc. It all just looks utterly basic.

Calling other person playing "poor AI" is not funny?

And watch more footage to see that AI is not poor. Also i havent remember any of more advanced AI behavior for example in God of War, so if that wasnt problem there why is it here?
 
Looks like they are using an engine designed for fps for third person action game. They should just delay the game a bit and make this into a first person action game.
