As you may have heard, Ryu is coming to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS today. For the first time ever, Ryu will try his luck against iconic gaming icons like Mario, Link, and Pikachu. Sonic is also in the game. Now that Ryu can scratch almost 50 new foes off his bucket list, I thought it would be interesting to list every character Ryu has gone one on one with (or two on two, or three on three depending on the game) in a video game. This is not necessarily limited to fighting games, but I'm not counting random monsters from Project X Zone or Namco X Capcom. I'm also not counting Card Fighters Clash since you're not actually Ryu. Puzzle Fighter counts because reasons. I am counting Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game too. Most of this is sourced (and ctrl C ctrl V'd) from Fighter's Generation and the Street Fighter wiki..

332 was the original number before I started adding ones I missed. Take off some of the dupes like the koopalings if you want, but I'm sure it still totals to over 300. I'm not going to count the individual game series these characters come from, but it's probably a few dozen. I'm sure I forgot some or dupes slipped in, feel free to correct me.

Let me run the numbers and get back with you but I think you forgot to carry the two. Ryu has fought a lot of dudes.

Kind of amazing. Ryu is like the most basic and maybe mostly known fighter. He totally deserves such an achievement. Ryu vs The World.

This is why his inclusion in Smash makes so much sense. The dude is on an endless journey to become the best fighter in the world. Actually, not just in his world, but also in everyone else's.

You forgot Onslaught for Marvel.

Your list is missing Chris Redfield. :p
Added. I'll add anyone I forgot. The list must be comprehensive so our grandchildren can look at Ryu's fight record and marvel.

Yeah I know, but I thought only Lucas was today.
Yeah whoops, it's unconfirmed but let's pretend it's today. It would be ridiculous if it wasn't today or tomorrow since all the data is in the game.

World warrior.
Dimensional warrior.

Speaking of the paddle from pong, you can attack some of the assist trophies in smash so wouldn't that inflate the number even more?

E: Also the stage bosses.

I just booted up Smash on Wii U , and it said installing DLC. I don't see any changes, it's still 1.0.7. Hmm...

I still await the day on which he faces the likes of Scorpion and Sub-Zero.

Until then, it'll only be in my dreams...

So Ryu is just a massive dick then? I'm surprised he wasn't just constantly smacking people around in the background of every scene in Wreck-It-Ralph.

Even Ken draws the line at kicking the shit out of Mario. That's like beating up you WWII vet granddad.

Impressive.
And I also think Stage Bosses and beatable Assist Trophies should be included. Even if they were not his challengers, he fought them, so this should count

That's like saying every athlete or martial artist is a massive dick for participating in organized tournaments with other consenting opponents.
