They did slow him down. They didn't report this replacement exploded Note 7 until several days later. Their behavior is absolutely ridiculous.
Samsung said:
Just now got this. I can try and slow him down if we think it will matter, or we just let him do what he keeps threatening to do and see if he does it.

Replacement exploded Note 7 Owner said:
“I was vomiting black so it was very scary,” Klerig said. “It was a lot of black stuff, and it didn’t look right.” Hospital records provided to WKYT showed that Klering was diagnosed with acute bronchitis.

What will it take for Samsung to do a complete global recall of this clearly troubled device? This is the 20th reported replacement phone that has exploded now.

For anyone confused, this is what I got:

The phone blew up while victim was sleeping, victim in hospital from smoke inhalation, Samsung employee sent text demonstrating their adversarial attitude towards their customers, and Samsung is now hiding behind needing federal approvals before they can do anything.

Same reason you don't see too many car recalls.

It's cheaper to pump the product out and eat lawsuits than it is to recall the line.

So that's another billion down the drain. Just give the Note 7 users an S7 and call it a day.

You can't fix bad engineering by fiddling with it. You need to go back to drawing board and not repeat the same mistake with Note 8. Until then, give everyone S7.

How could an employee at Samsung accidently text a customer? Why would an employee have a customers phone number in their contacts? Sounds fishy.

They seriously need to kill this phone and offer anyone that got one a serious bonus in addition to a free s7 replacement or something. They're going to kill all the goodwill theyve built up over the years to put themselves in the same league as apple

Because he contacted them? When you have an escalated support case, you get and give individual phone numbers. I'm sure the support he called had him call a specialist, who then mistexted this information.

They waited like a month to recall the Note 7 originally and have shipped 20 replacements that have exploded without issuing a second recall. This incident was then reported a week after it happened to try and save face. This is exactly the type of gross behavior I would expect from them at this point.

They're handling this entire situation horribly and people are getting hurt.

I'm confused. What does the bronchitis have anything to with a malfunctioning, replacement phone?

Disregard, clicked another article within this article and understand now.

Horrible situation but i couldn't help but laugh at this linked at the bottom of the page:

This is a weird story that seems to be missing key information.
Yeah, this doesn't make any sense. Did anyone actually read the first post?

Okay, that makes things simpler.

Thanks. Added to OP.

This is so unreal. How the fuck can the replacements have the same issue? This is bullshit that they possibly sent out another bad batch.

The N7 is the best phone I've ever had, hell I'd stick with it through another recall. Get your shit together Samsung. Fuck.

Samsung USA customer service is so bad... That they should feel all they pain that they are right now.

They took over 4 weeks to ship me my 2 things that I ordered. They promised a gift card for their terrible delay, which I never received. When I called, they would be rude and said they could nothing to resolve it. How is that fine?!

That is terrifying. Can't the government issue a federal ban at this point?

They certainly could force a recall and ban of that particular model, threaten to block all samsung phones even but it would take time.

Make no mistake EVERY company on earth is like this with ALL of their products. It's a much more noticable thing with cars though because they can have a lot going on and problems can and do lead to the deaths of their owners. I mean, if you run a huge business and make I don't know , 10 million of a thing and they all sell. But you've done some testing before it launches and know that 100,000 of those things WILL have a problem (1%) that could cause injury , you're companies legal department will have a sheet full of statistics that perhaps 1000/10,000 will cause enough of a problem that you might get sued. The average settlement in those lawsuits is going to be X and if X multiplied by 1000 is higher than the price of doing a recall notice ? well, then you get your recall, if it's much lower though ? well, then you get to suffer with a faulty product as a consumer until X rises above the cost of a recall.

This even happened with MS and the RROD issue , they spend 3 billion dollars essentially guaranteeing the xbox 360 with it's overheating motherboard for an extra 24 months against all types of failure because the bad publicity over doing nothing would have cost them far more than 3 billion.

With car companies , it's sadly almost a good thing that actual user death can occur because wrongful death lawsuits pay out a ton of money so these days most big name car companies pull the recall switch perhaps almost too often to avoid as much liability in the event of vehicle failure.

Cellphones though, usually don't have major issues like this. The real problem for samsung is that they've already had a recall on this model and the replacements are showing the same problem. That tells me there is something fundamentally wrong with the way the phone is engineered , the first recall probably attempted a cheap repair option (a different brand of battery, slower charge rate , who knows for sure) but here we are - they still blow up probably because this cheap repair option wasn't given the full testing it needed OR , it did get some testing and the issue came up but it wasn't as prevalent and they (samsung) decided to send 'em out anyway in order to try and recover their stock price.

Basically, they gambled with the faulty replacement and lost.

The point where I knew this whole fiasco was serious was when I was flying back from Florida last week and the airline folks said that all G7's must be checked and that you couldn't have them in the cabin. I was like, holy shit.

Yeah, I wish the phone was dead already but I'm afraid then even with the most public statement possible from Samsung Note owners would still just keep their phone. People are super weird with their stupid smartphones.

This is the funniest post in this thread. Let me tell you about the company behind the One Plus..

Haha, I know. It was a joke. My experience with the OPO and OP3 have been nothing but great though. 😄

This employee is fired right? I can't imagine anyone's career survive that type of mistake (other than maybe trump)

They need to do a global recall and just take the loss until next year.

They need to figure out what is wrong with their batteries.

I am currently working on a case involving a Samsung battery in a ecig catching fire while in a pocket.

From his personal cell phone? I doubt they don't use their own messaging client like Jabber for internal conversations.

I really wish I had bought that Blackberry like I wanted instead of settling for a Samsung edge. I really hate supporting a company that could let a mess like this happen.

Samsung fucked up trying to beat iPhone to market and got the product they deserved. Shoddy rushed product that should be pulled from the market by the governments around the world, let alone Samsung.
