Samsung confirms 43" QN90B NEO QLED has 144hz panel (US version)

Ah my mistake, that said 144hz has been the standard on monitors since the ps3 era I wonder if there's something to help with rendering 30 and 60 on games. Usually the issue is more due to video watching.
That is a issue with videogame too.
That is why the 40fps mode for R&C only exists if you set output to 120Hz… it is divisible by 40fps while 60Hz not. If you choose 60Hz output the game doesn't give you the 40fps option.

144Hz is so uneven that I believe it only for PC.

And before people say the monitor can adapt to 120Hz just remember the monitor will still do it best at native 144Hz… that is true even for PC.

144Hz seems aimed at PCs then, I can't see the reasoning behind a 144Hz TV. It would make no sense.
144hz actually makes sense for 24fps movies because it's an even multiple of 24 vs. an odd multiple ; 120 divided by 5 is 24.

For best frame duplication results you want an even multiple. Although an odd multiple is still better than not being a multiple at all, like a 24fps film on a 60hz sample and hold set.

But then, for 30, 60 or 120fps games you wouldn't want 144hz refresh, you'd want 120. A HZ mode toggle would give you the best of both, make it input dependent.

Up on Amazon. Release date is April 6th.

Received it a couple of days ago. Picture quality is amazing. Probably the best I've ever seen from an LCD. It's that good. Black levels are great. Everything is so sharp on this 43" size. Colors pop off the screen. Definitely overall seems to be better than my 50" X90J. The game motion plus setting for 30fps (like Breath of the Wild) content is a god send. Last Samsung I owned didn't have this. The 43" doesn't have the ultra viewing angle screen so the screen is basically pure glossy and because of that you get a higher native contrast/sharper image than the larger sizes. I've not tested it with PC (don't have anything that can push 144hz), but have with several different consoles (PS5, Series X, PS3, Gamecube, SNES, etc) and all of it looks great. The 120hz works great.

I picked up one of these recently too and I'll echo your sentiments. I believe this is the only 43" LCD television that has 120hz and it's greatly appreciated. I'll now be able to take full advantage of my XSX and PS5 and I'll never have to worry about burn in either. I hope it continues to hold up well because I'm pretty satisfied right now.

if you want to see what sky high demand looks like then take a look at the Graphics card demand over the past couple of years or the Steam Deck.
"Console demand isn't there."

Consumers looking for consoles: "Then why aren't they on any shelves?"

Then we determine that consoles do in fact have "sky high demand."

Fantastic. I may have to buy this instead of the LG C2 to avoid burn in risk.

Thoughts on Samsung's Quality Control for Mini-LED units...or lack thereof.

I went to Best Buy yesterday and purchased a 50" QN90B to replace my Alienware Ultrawide. What should have been an enjoyable Saturday afternoon turned into a frustrating panel lottery experience that saw me go through 4(!) units before saying "fuck it" and opting to get an S95B instead.

What I encountered:
  • Dirty screen effect out the wazoo on ALL of the 4 units I had.
  • Horrible yellow-tint with whites on 3 out of 4 of the units I had.
    • This would be on either the left or right, so if there was a shot with someone in a white shirt or dress in the center of the frame, they'd be yellow-tinged on one side.
  • Clumps of dead pixels and dust on the screen on ALL 4 units I had.
I've never experienced a situation where exhausting 4 units of the same model--with different production dates on each--yielded the same or worse results. Over on AVSForum, Samsung's lack of QC on these units is something of a known thing/ running joke, and now I know why.

You'd be hard-pressed to convince me to try another Samsung Mini-LED unit for the next few years (or Micro-LED, when that becomes available).

One example (dead center of screen):

I returned my 43" QN90B because of dead pixels. Samsung really does have questionable quality control for such expensive devices. My next purchase will be with Costco. They are offering an extended 5 year warranty for no extra charge and is really smart when these displays could have so many issues.
