Oh yeah fuck that movie. Nobody to get behind. No good guy no bad. It is a flawed concept for filmmaking. That movie is just one great explosion, actually the best explosion.

You don't like Apocalypse Now because there's no classic good or bad guy? It almost sounds like you missed the point of the movie

Band Of Brothers made SPR irrelevant.

after re-watching the film, I find that I can only stomach the D-Day battle, it gets horribly depressing after that.... and the last battle

while Band had highs and lows, and more highs, then lows, and ended on a very big high

In terms of my personal viewpoint of history on the US, World War II the most relevant event that has occurred. Saving Private Ryan is the most relevant film in regards to that event that has come out.

So...dear diary: SPR is important to me.

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. Grand-daddy of the EA MoH series. And yes, the game did a very good job of it.
