Sonic Adventure 1 was cool in the fact that it was the LAST close to classic Sonic style 3d game to be made. Somewhat classic sounding tracks, enjoyable gameplay with other characters yet not forced to play as them, no over reliance on grinding rails / on rails uncontrolled action, and ok platforming areas...not to mention a casino stage.

Don't forget the enemies were classic Sonic style to! Robotic animals with real animals inside of 'em! Hardly a generic mecha to be found! Bosses to. Eggmans constant craft upgrades and stuff were great none of that generic GUN bots and garbage SA2 and on have.

Speaking of Sonic Adventure Music, this was in the related bar for some Sonic 3 song I was looking for on Youtube.

The tragic thing is that according to the related links there's apparenly tons of people making lyrics for awesome level songs. I'm too scared to check them out. Let's go get someone else to do it.

Also Willy105 you are a highly terrifying individual and made HUELEN look almost sane for a while until that bit about texting a Sonic song line by line to every one of his contacts which was kinda weird a lil bit. Just thought you should know~

I have no idea why I liked Sonic Adventure. I honestly don't. The controls don't feel right, the adventure sections are stupid, most of the extra characters are useless. But somehow I played it all the way through and actually had positive feelings about it. It was just a year or two ago, too, so I can't blame nostalgia.

Music that sets a memorable atmosphere can do that... not to mention varied landscapes and areas to explore. I think the music alone makes it the best 3D sonic.

A few decent ska-rock tunes do not make up for a soundtrack largely composed of soulless and samey grunge and punk, plus Knuckles' hip-hop and whatever the hell Kumatani was doing with some of Shadow's tracks. Rouge's light jazz isn't bad, but it doesn't stick with me either.

Different musical tastes? Honestly though, SA's soundtrack as a whole was probably superior to SA2's IMO. Notable tracks from SA IMO include Tikal's theme, E-102 Gamma's theme, & Tornado Scramble.
I'm just going to copy my existing list here.

Azure Blue World ...for Emerald Coast
Windy and Ripply ...for Emerald Coast
Twinkle Cart ...for Twinkle Park
Run Through the Speed Highway ...for Speed Highway
At Dawn ...for Speed Highway
Theme of CHAO
Dilapidated Way ...for Casinopolis
Mystic Ruin
The Air ...for Windy Valley
Fight For My Own Way
Snowy Mountain ...for Icecap
Be Cool, Be Wild and Be Groovy ...for Icecap
Invincible ...No Fear!
Mt. Red: A Symbol of Thrill ...for Red Mountain
Theme of Tikal
Tricky Maze ...for Lost World
Leading Lights ...for Lost World
Skydeck A Go! Go! ...for Sky Deck
Theme of E-102γ
Crazy Robo
Bad Taste Aquarium ...for Hot Shelter
Mechanical Resonance ...for Final Egg
Crank the Heat Up!! ...for Final Egg
It Doesn't Matter (Theme of Sonic)
Believe In Myself (Theme of Tails)
Unknown From M.E. (Theme of Knuckles)
Lazy Days ~ Livin' in Paradise (Theme of Big)
Open Your Heart

And damn near everything not on there is still better than any arbitrary track from SA2. It boggles my mind how what was essentially the same sound team produced such an inferior soundtrack just two years later.

Hated that song in the game.

Loved that song, until they changed it into something else after the tornado hit.

Of all the things I liked about Sonic Adventure, the music wasn't it. Sonic Adventure 2's music beat it, especially in it's superior remixes of Sonic Adventure tracks. Like Sonic's theme. Compare that to the lame cheesy Sonic Adventure 1 version.

Oh my god, that link is epic. I'd put that on the front page of the SEGA blogs if it didn't have the cursing in there. The ending especially - win.

Just watched this one from the same guys - again, ending is hilarious.

93 pages of non-news, with a handful of posts reflecting the mere two teasers and minimal details released. Wow.
If it makes you feel any better, that's all going to change in the very near future.

I mean, er - what? Let's post more videos.

I didn't think SoA was going to build up a random week-long tease, then go "Okay, here's your crab, now nothing for five more months!" :D Good to hear we'll actually have a game to talk (
complain
) about soon.

Some actual news. Ok, its only news that news is coming, but it's the VERY NEAR part that I consider both "news" and "cock tease".

Was Sega going to completely bypass the Wii with this game from the get go?

Also didn't Sonic do best this generation on the Wii in both VC and retail games?

Little Timmy and his parents and family members don't exactly know quality.

What's a classic Sonic revival without a rivalry with Nintendo?

I've seen more rubbish posted about 15 year old Final Fantasy games in longer threads.

It doesn't qualify as a remix when you completely rewrite the music. How you consider the SA2 version less cheesy than the SA1 original is as beyond me as the rest of your preferences.

As long as it's something more than crabs this time.

Sweet. Hopefully they'll actually end up using that one, or the one from Sonic 2
, as Sonic's sprite in S3&K was fugly

What's wrong with it? It's my favorite of the Genesis Sonics.

For me it would be
S1=SCD=S2>Sonic 8-bit>that creepy Sonic figure.. thing>dog vomit>S3&K>the current monstrosity with rubber arms, rubber legs and green eyes with the glow of evil

It's hard to explain exactly why I hate the redesigned sprite, but it just looks.. not right, compared to the sprites used in S1, SCD and S2. I don't like the graphics of S3&K in general, for that matter.

You know, you guys are making it very easy to convert to the other kind of Sonic fans.

That's odd. I thought the graphics for S3K were much improved from the old ones. They were a lot more lively, colorful, animated, and had better balanced colors. In fact, this is the first time I ever heard of people acknowledging the difference, let alone saying it is worse.

I think I had this discussion with Huelen a few months ago, but anyway.. :lol To me, S3&K has a sort of 'grainy' look compared to the cleaner, sleeker look of Sonic 1 and 2, which has always made me balk at the graphics. The colours and all that jazz are overall perfectly fine, it's just the 'grain filter' I don't like.

Grainy look? I've actually never noticed that. I did notice that the animation was much better in S3K because of his more rounded and held back appearance. In previous games, it was all over the place, especially in Sonic CD.

The more rounded appearance is one of the things I disliked about the S3&K sprite. A poster up above ^ also mentioned Sonic looking plastic-y in Sonic 3&K, something that I'd also agree with. Kind of.

Sonic 1, 2, 3, and Spinball respectively (ignore Spinball for this discussion):

I see he has gotten shinier, but he is more detailed and better proportioned, which helps a lot in sprite based animation when you only have a low number of frames to work with.

But unless looking at it this way, there isn't much of a difference.

Sega changed the imagery on their forums just now to show the classic sonic sprites.
