The House still has to sign off on whatever changes the Senate makes though. And I'm not sure they'll accept those changes
This riles up the freedom caucus again though, and voters are going to lose their shit in Town Halls. So it's very clumsy at least.
The important thing is that the House only got their bill passed through blitzkrieg. With the CBO report coming next week, and the deadline for budget reconciliation fast approaching, and more reflecting on the actual impacts of the hill in the press, it's not clear whether the AHCA has a chance of becoming actual law.
Saw one of the Nates comment that the Republicans celebrating after the House vote is the equivalent to throwing a party for your team leading in the first quarter.

Anything that 'is under budget' in the new Senate Beill, in order to be able to pass through reconciliation is going to need to be even more miserly than the current house plan, or be something else entirely....neither of which will please the Freedom Caucus types.
That being said, this still isn't 100% sunshine and rainbows either, in that the GOP are gonna push some shit through then swing it via the 51 majority (or probably even 50 + Pence) to get it pushed under reconciliation.

I think they house knew damn well they couldn't get it through because they came up with the most extreme version so that they could eventually settle on what they really wanted from the beginning, which is something just heinous enough to pass both the house and senate. This is a pretty common strategy.

Not a chance. ACA has serious flaws but it at least helps some people. Anything the GOP passes won't do anything to help at all.

This is actually horrifying and the worst thing that can happen. They are designing an empty shell to not increase the budget and get an easy 51 votes in the Senate. Then they can just reconcile the contents of the final bill to send Trump via a tiny ass committee.

Doesnt work that way. Any bill sent to the president has to have a final version of it approved by the house and the senate.
The senate won't approve any bill the freedom caucus likes because it'll kill millions, and the freedom caucus will crush any bill from the senate that doesn't kill millions. Round and round we go.

Not exactly. If the Senate and House pass two different versions of the same bill, then they put together a joint committee to put together a compromise bill. They then have both the House and Senate vote on that. The process doesn't end until both chambers of Congress pass the same bill that uses the same wording.
The House went first this time, because only the House can initiate bills that involve budget/spending issues, but in other circumstances it is possible for the Senate to write a bill first.
This is all basic proceedural stuff for the US Government, I'm surprised that so many people are confused by it.

sure, but either way still means another house vote, and what the senate and the house republicans want is very different. And both of these assume they plan to nuke the democrat's filibuster, which is a huge assumption in and of itself
