Awesome! First one was a picture perfect example of "this is a great foundation, the sequel to this could be flat out amazing"

Damn the worst thing about Shadows of Mordor for me was that it was a LotR game.
Thinking about it that's probably never going to change....

There doesn't seem to be high chances of the studio being allowed to integrate the system in an original IP where they can go wild.

The only reason Mordor 1 did so well was because 2014 was pretty shit. Here's hoping that the story in this one is actually good.

Great stuff, loved the first one.

Wouldn't mind if this became a mini-series: Shadow of Moria, Shadow of Isengard, etc.

Perhaps it would be able to maintain how the first one did by releasing it out of the holiday, early/middle of the year
It's now how it used to be, amazing games, some of the biggest of the year, are releasing during those months as well.

Publishers saw some amazing sales during those months and they are not hesitate on releasing major games anymore, it will have a good competition in almost any time of the year.

Hell yeah! One of 2014's best games.

The only reason Mordor 1 did so well was because 2014 was pretty shit. Here's hoping that the story in this one is actually good.
The story's execution was the games largest problem. It wasn't even the story itself, but the lack of buildup for the bosses, hamfisted inclusion of Golem and poor pacing. That being said, a good revenge story is always great and the idea of a wraith holding on to Talion was really cool!

Gameplay was a blast! Nemesis system was one of the most enjoyable systems I've experienced in a game in quite some time.

Shadow of mordor gave me a really good first impression, but the game got stale real fast.
I just kept playing for the easy plat, but in the end...I just didn't like it. The story was kinda bland (had to google who THAT character was) and the ending was just plain bad, even thou they should take queues from the last couple of mission, that really showed a more complex and cool nemesis system.

First one was super repetitive and the ending and final boss sucked ass. Plus it was ugly as sin apart from the lighting. But it had it's merits. Id be up for a improved sequel.

If they went back into the lore and, as an example, based a game around the tale of Beren and Luthien, we would be in for a treat. Yeah, Sauron was a bad dude, but his former master was even more powerful and depraved.

Hopefully they can develop a good game time.

I'm still shocked at how the Nemesis system tricked so many into thinking that first one was GoTY material.

E3 announcement?

This makes me super happy! I had an absolute blast with the first game and got the platinum trophy.

Had my fun with the first one, probably gonna pick this up used (or new, if it comes out in a boring month)

Off-topic, but she has an impressive resume. RE6, Tomb Raider...wonder what the Sony Project is?

First one bored me to tears but it had a nice set up and base to work with for a sequel. It was a lot like the original Assassin's Creed in that regard. I'm cautiously optimistic right now.

Good, the first one felt like it ended with a lot of untapped potential never realized. I hope they expand upon the nemesis system nicely, it created a good few tense battles and gave me a REALLY rough start to the game having managed to anger 5 main guys in 5 minutes.

As for everything else though I hope they mix it up a bit. The game was ok, but there was plenty of room for improvement, particularly I hope they find more reason to actually make use of a mount and just give us a more interesting location to explore. Maybe even a safe, civilized area too so we can have somewhere for more of a story to take place. I always wanted to see more of the story from the other side the game started at rather than the bleak and barren world of Mordor. I'm not expecting it though with the clue being in the title.

I would really like it if it had more RPG elements.I got bored of the first one pretty fast and never came back to finish it.

I didn't like the first one at all and don't care about the sequel.

Come on Monolith, you can do better that this. Give us next-gen NOLF type of game or something.

I loved the original and I'd be a shame if Monolith didn't get the chance to explore the Nemesis concept a little bit more in a sequel. Personally I'm hoping they make it really hard to kill named NPCs if you don't know and exploit their weaknesses. The first Mordor was a bit too lenient in that regard for my liking.

The first game was a fun time waster. I didn't care much for the writing or story. Combat was decent but you're godlike after you get some powers. The nemesis system and branding were cool ideas.

I did 100% the first game.

You know what will be great? This game being built solely for next-gen consoles! Can't wait to see what that opens up for the team.

Currently playing the first one. The game is fun but way too easy and the Nemesis system has been far underused.

I can definitely see the improvements that 2 could make to make it a fantastic game.

nice.

I ended up branding every orc captain/warlord I came across.... wiped out all wars and feuds lol.

And thus the white hand of isengard returns

I thought the game was okay. The nemesis was a cool idea, but it had some issues and the rest of the game I thought was average. Hopefully they can improve for the sequel.

That year was pretty dry. I wonder if this game would have gotten this much attention if it had released in a stronger year.

Loved the first one, this is awesome news to me. As long as they fix the difficulty, it will be an awesome game.

Biggest issue in the game in my opinion was the fact that the easy difficulty basically stopped the Nemesis system from working, so while the early game was phenomenal the mid-late game was ehhhh. It was especially bad because you could keep playing after you finished the game, but by then you were so overpowered that you had to basically die on purpose to get a nemesis generated enemy.

That said, still had tons of fun with the game. It was pretty light on the story, just a shameless Orc Murder Simulator 2k14 and it was pretty great.

I think the first game was basically hot garbage, but I think there's definite potential in its systems to make a better game from.

The first one did well during the biggest drought in consoles gaming I think (seriously 2014 was one of the worst years ever in gaming), I'm not sure the sequel will do as good now that people have great alternatives but we'll see.
It was only one of the worst years in gaming if you didn't play on Wii U.

Conversely 2015 was probably one of the worst years in gaming if you only played on Wii U, lol.

Day 1 purchase for me. I had some issues with it like Variety in both missions and setting but really liked the 1st game overall.

Isn't Shadow of Mordor the subtitle? The game's name is "Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor". So this should actually be Middle-earth 2.

Very impressed with the graphical fidelity and ambition of the first one, Mordor 2 will be insane graphically and in scope.

Unfortunately, the Tolkien Estate will never let go of the rights to The Silmarillion.
