Shadow of the Eternals is back! Dyack launches new transmedia company!

Anyone else think that him saying it can make money on any platform guarantees this is going to be a mobile only release as it requires a smaller budget?

The Miskatonic thing is obviously a joke and a reference to Eternal Darkness' Lovecraftian influences. Not that it makes the whole thing any less sketchy.
Why on earth would anyone want to be associated with someone like that. A joke, but one done is profanely poor taste.

If I was a business partner with him, I'd serious reconsider any future business with the guy.

Fabricating a degree and one from a fake is just desperate and ridiculous. Why on earth do people even give this guy the time of day?

Found his diploma online.

Del Toro believes this is the future too. Transmedia hasn't worked amazingly well in the past, but with platforms becoming able to run multiple types of media the time is now for a revival. That being said nothing will come of this.

The 'graduated from Miskatonic' thing is a long standing joke within the Lovecraft and Cthulhu community. I'm all for giving Denis Dyack a hard time but treating this like you're actually uncovering some evil plot by him is silly. Make fun of him for his actual failures like his caustic personality, complete mismanagement of resources and terrible PR.

I don't think I want a future where Del Toro and Dyack, two well-known hacks and project abandoners, are providing the transmedia content.

It's actually about ethics in Miskatonic University

I don't find it funny and professionally I find it disgraceful. I can't imagine someone wanting to continue to business with someone. I work with tons of people that work hard for their degrees from accredited schools. Having someone get attention and make some 'joke' about receiving a degree with honors from a fake school is poor taste.

If I were the other two founders, I would ask him to change it as misrepresenting yourself on your professional bio reflects poorly on them.

Well clearly you and I have a different sense of humor. It's clearly not meant to be taken seriously by anyone. I'm done this line of conversation though as I don't take any particular joy in defending Denis Dyack even if I think getting so bent out of shape at a simple joke is silly. Again, this is a man with a far more damning track record.

I seriously doubt the other two founders care about some dumb joke. They're probably more worried about getting all the pieces in place for their upcoming pyramid scheme.

Interesting that Dyack is taking centre stage here since they did their best to not mention his involvement at all during the Kickstarter.

Well since his bio is a joke, I guess the other two are a joke as well. I guess one is a coffee boy for Toronto TV shows and the other is a former bank clerk.

Del Toro a hack? I can't name a film he wrote and directed terrible. Even The Strain which is kind of shit had an amazing looking and directed pilot.

A guy who says this

Del Toro has expressed interest in video games, and hopes to create a "Citizen Kane of games."

unironically is basically a hack. I don't even have to go down the list of unfinished, underdeveloped or cancelled projects he's "taken on".

That doesn't make him a "hack" at all, just because some videogame projects didn't get off the ground. Now if he continued to make barely interactive media and called them video games and talked about them as if they're high art, when they have stories that would amount to a straight to cable B movie.( not saying any names) then i could think of him as a hack.

man, i feel so sorry for Denis Dyack... wtf. its like the guy is cursed.
like who the fuck knew there was a pedophile on your team.

Is Dyack still banned around these parts?

It'd be interesting for him to drop by and give us the lowdown himself.

Personally, I hope the game comes out on Wii U or PC. As much as you people baying for blood would hate to admit, Dyack was heavily involved in Eternal Darkness and that game was great. Since this game is spiritually related to it, I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.

The final product will tell the story.

I just... I just want more pargon guys. Please. I dont care about the child porn accusations and the suing. I just want some goddamn "lovecraft" "Eternal Darkness" games. Backed the two attempts, so please, just do it.

It looks like http://www.precursorgames.com/ redirects to the QEE site. So I'm unclear on the extent to which QEE is a new company, rather than a rebranding of Precursor. (After the conviction of the child pornographer, I can imagine wanting to get away from the Precursor label.)

I wonder if Paul Caporicci is involved.

It lives!

Eternal Darkness is one of my favorite games ever. I'm really pulling for Shadow of the Eternals to be good.

Did they somehow find a financial backer or publisher? That seems unlikely considering the amount of bridges burned.

No no no, you see, Precursor Games both is and is not Quantum Entanglement Entertainment. The two become superimposed. When observed, the entity will "decide" which to switch to, usually to avoid legal fees and lawsuits.

If you put something up on Kickstarter and it fails to fund TWICE, that means there is no audience for your project.

Any publisher that backs these clowns deserves what they get.

He is CEO at Creative Bytes Studios. They are making tablet and mobile games.

Pretty sure it is just business shell game.

I don't think a publisher would touch them, however if they can con the right group of venture capital/angel investors with plans of a TV series, movie, books and mobile app, they can probably get money to self publish.

All of this sounds... expensive. Who is fronting the capital for this? We already know it is not going to come from crowd sourcing...

They already had a publisher/funding even before they tried kickstarter, but I think it was only part of what they needed.

I'd buy Shadow Of The Eternals on Wii U (not in episode form though). However, this attempted revival will last, oooh, three months, maybe?

While I'm among the people skeptical of whether anything will come of this, I do believe that TV and movies would be a better media for Dyack and company than games were, because gameplay wasn't their strong suit. Eternal Darkness was a very interesting concept and had an engaging narrative, but I don't feel it was a particularly fun game. I don't have any desire to play it again and if I do decide to revisit it, I'd probably just rewatch the cutscenes only. A serialized TV show in the vein of Eternal Darkness could be real cool, but I don't know that I'd be particularly excited for another game.

just make a game.

so we go from being unable to finance a single game to financing that plus a feature film and television series? sounds really pie in the sky.

all i want is the game and i feel like i won't ever really see it released.
